Chapter 4
“Fariza, are you okay? Are you hurt? I’m coming right now!”
Derick’s face changed drastically as he answered a call and left the room.
I hesitated for a moment before following him at a distance. He turned corners quickly, walking into another hospital room.
Through the glass window, I saw him tightly embracing Fariza.
Fariza, don’t lie to me. Are you really pregnant?”
“Honey~ How could I lie to you? The test results say our baby is already three months old.”

Derick glanced at the test results, then laughed loudly and kissed Fariza.
I stood frozen at the door, feeling as though I had fallen into an ice cave.
She was pregnant with Derick’s child!
Why did my child have such a miserable fate? It had to leave this world before even getting a chance to be born!
“Honey~ The baby can’t be born without a household registration, right?”
“Don’t worry, Fariza. As soon as I go back, I’ll divorce her. She’s fine now, I’ve taken care of her for so long, and I don’t owe her anything. In fact, I owe you and our baby a proper title.”
Derick smiled lazily, full of contempt.

“She rushed into a burning building to save me in front of everyone. If I didn’t marry her, the Presley family’s business might be ruined. Now, everything can finally end!”
My pupils constricted, and my breath became rapid as I staggered back two steps.
The noise startled the people in the room.
When Derick saw me, his brows furrowed.
“What are you doing here? Were you spying on me?”
I shook my head, turned, and walked away.
I no longer had any attachment to this
person.
It turns out, our marriage was just a

business deal.
It turns out, he never loved me.
My phone buzzed, and a message popped up.
It was from Fariza.
“Estelle, I’ll tell you the truth. I’ve known you were pregnant all along. A little fake act was enough to make you miscarry. It was totally worth it! Now that I’m carrying Derick’s baby, I’ll be Mrs. Presley for sure!”
Since this was all a scam, why should I keep struggling?
I quickly packed my bags and dialed my aunt’s number.
She was both furious and anxious, and

within five minutes, she was here to pick me
- up.
Before leaving, I placed the divorce agreement on the coffee table.
From today on, I had nothing to do with
Derick anymore.
“Estelle, what are your plans now?”
“I want to go abroad and do what I’ve always wanted to do.”
I gazed out of the car window at the street scene, feeling unexpectedly light–hearted.
Leaving Derick wasn’t as hard as I had imagined.
“I want to become a doctor without borders,
to save lives and heal the wounded.”

My aunt glanced at me through the rearview mirror, a glimmer of relief in her eyes.
“This is the real Estelle! Aunt will support you unconditionally! I know a colleague over there, I’ll ask him to help
Out.”
With my aunt’s help, just a few days later, I boarded a plane heading abroad.
As I was about to turn off my phone, I saw Fariza’s post on social media.
In the photo, she and Derick were holding hands, smiling happily.
I liked the post and wrote a comment.
“As you wish, I’ve disappeared from your world.”

I posted it, blocked her, and turned off my phone all in one swift motion.
The plane soared into the sky, leaving all my worries behind as I peacefully drifted into sleep.
After more than ten hours of flying, I met the colleague my aunt had mentioned.
“Hello, I’m Tavius. Welcome.”
The man extended his hand, which was covered in calluses. I gently shook it.
“I’m Estelle, nice to meet you.”
On the way to the camp, I opened my phone, and a flood of messages from Derick poured in.
I didn’t open any of them but just sent a

message to my aunt to let her know I was safe.
Then a video call came through. I coldly hung up.
But he kept calling, persistent.
“Don’t you want to listen? Maybe it’s urgent.”
Tavius asked gently, and I smiled faintly before hanging up again.
“Scam call, no need to answer”
