Chapter 7
I raised an eyebrow, unsure of what he was up to.
“Dante, what are you doing at my doorstep?”
He jogged over and grabbed my hand, his cold palm gently patting my back.
“Are you hungry? It’s so cold out, and it’s so late–you should eat something. You know it hurts me to see you starving, right?”
My stomach churned.
I yanked my hand away. “What are you doing?”
“I’m just really worried about you.”

“You’ve been working so long, forgot to eat, and I’m afraid you’re going to starve.”
“Selina, what are you going to do without me? If I’m here, I can cook for you, take care of you. But without me, how will you take care of yourself?
“Let’s remarry, okay? I really love you.”
I looked into his eyes, where genuine emotions showed.
It used to be like this. Dante took care of me in every way.
There was a time when I thought our love was irreplaceable, that we were the perfect couple.
But he had disappeared, and even cheated to avoid facing the consequences of my

disappearance.
“Why should I?” I stared at Dante’s eyes coldly and said, “Dante, why is it that just because you say you’re good to me, you really are? Why is it that when you disappear, it’s okay, but now that you want to come back, I’m supposed to accept you?”
“Once, I thought I loved you because you were thoughtful and made me feel like I could rely on you. But now I see, you’re nothing but a hypocrite, full of empty words, and willing to do anything for your own gain.”
Dante looked at me, but his body trembled uncontrollably.
He wanted to say it wasn’t true, but he found no way to defend himself.
“Is there anything else? If not, please move.

I’m going home.”
He stood in the doorway, motionless, silent.
I was truly annoyed and reached to pull him
away.
But he suddenly yanked me into his arms.
“Selina, I truly know I was wrong! I swear, there’s nothing between me and Ariya!”
“I’ll stay away from her, please, give me another chance!”
He held me tightly, not letting go no matter how much I struggled.
Then, I was suddenly yanked from his embrace, and when I looked up, I met Nill’s sharp jawline.

His voice rang out above my head.
“Dante, I told you, if you keep pestering Selina, the family won’t back you up anymore!”
Dante immediately released my hand.
“Cousin, this is a matter between my wife and me.”
Hearing his words, I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly.
“A matter between us?” I scoffed.
ante, who gave you the idea to fake your disappearance?”
“Don’t tell me you came up with it on your own–do you even have that kind of mind?”

“You’ve only been manipulated by Ariya!”
“She goes out with you, and you say she’s your best buddy. You drink together, and you call her your best buddy. You deceive me
together, and you say she’s your best buddy.
You even spend the night with her and call it your best buddy thing! Tell me, is this what all best buddies do?”
Disgust flashed across Dante’s face.
He was wrong, and instead of apologizing, he tried to twist everything to defend himself.
This only made me despise him even more.
Nill forcefully shoved Dante aside and pushed me toward the door. “Go rest at home, I’ll handle him.”

I nodded, slammed the door behind me once I was inside, and stormed straight to my
