Chapter 9
In a flash, I yanked the bedsheet from her, kicked her out of the way while she was disoriented, and slapped Summer across the face.
“Hello, 911? I’d like to report a case of prostitution.”
The police arrived quickly, and we were all taken to the station.
While Summer and Margot were both still half–dressed.
After I called the police, I stood in front of the door to prevent them from leaving. Summer’s clothes were in the guest room, and Margot couldn’t find any clothes, so they were taken out just like that.

“Margot’s bracelet was a gift from Summer’s parents. I have the invoice here.”
I opened my phone’s album and showed the officer. “As far as I know, if there’s a sexual encounter involving money or valuable items exchanged, it constitutes prostitution. And while Margot tried to grab my phone, she scratched my hand and scalp. I’d like to request an injury assessment.”
With the evidence I provided, Summer and Margot were detained.
“We’re not prostitutes. Nothing happened between Summer and me,” Margot, probably realizing the situation was dire, confessed to the police. “And Summer gave the bracelet to me as a gift. You can ask him yourself.”
“Officer, I have a video on my phone. Please

let Summer see it.” I handed over my phone as evidence and asked the police to show Summer another video.
Yesterday when I left Summer’s house, I saw a young man in the community playing with a drone. He told me he was preparing for a drone operator’s exam, so he practiced every day in the area.
I asked him to help retrieve the morning surveillance footage, and we ended up finding the full video of Margot inciting Zoe to smash the flowerpot.
Summer told the police he had been drunk the night before and had no idea how Margot ended up in his bed.
As for the bracelet, he confirmed that it had been a gift from his parents to me.

The charge of prostitution didn’t hold, but Margot was arrested for theft.
As for the injuries I sustained, the police told me they didn’t meet the threshold for prosecution.
I didn’t care. My goal had already been achieved.
It would take over two hours to get from the county to the airport, so I decided to take the train.
To my surprise, Summer was waiting at the entrance.
“Nicole, don’t go.” Summer, with a scruffy beard, grabbed my suitcase and said
anxiously, ignoring the curious glances from the crowd.

I remained silent. Summer continued, “I didn’t know Margot had been lying to me. I never imagined she would try to frame you. I was the fool. Please, don’t leave. Forgive me.”
I smiled bitterly. “So you think it’s all Margot’s fault?”
Summer nodded. “She’s the one who misled me.”
I shook my head. “No, Summer. Margot is just the trigger. If you hadn’t changed, nothing she did would have mattered.”
“I could have accepted that you cared about Margot, but you lost all sense of boundaries. How many times did you put her before me?”
“You said Margot was afraid of the dark, so you went to her place at night. But I’m afraid

of the dark too.”
“You accused me of being too dependent on you and refused to take me to work. I accepted it. But then you immediately turned and drove Margot around. How am I supposed to feel, Summer? You’ve changed.”
I tugged my suitcase away from his grasp.
But Summer wouldn’t let go. He shook his head frantically. “No, that’s not it. The person I love is you. I’ve been kind to Margot because I didn’t want to let Peter down.”
“Is that so?” I sneered. “Is that your idea of love? Throwing me in a car to wait for death? If I hadn’t been lucky, you’d be standing at my grave right now.”
Summer’s face went pale, and he couldn’t speak.

“Summer, you’re still going after this woman? Haven’t you suffered enough because of her?”
At that moment, Margot emerged,
disheveled, grabbing Summer and shouting, “She reported you to the police! Are you really this shameless?”
