Chapter 5
“Claire King, when did you become so full of lies?”
“Lily told me everything–how you went to the office, called her a mistress, and even pushed her down the stairs, yet she still thinks it’s her fault and wants to apologize to you.”
“Do you think you can just make up a child to avoid your responsibilities, pretending to be weak and pitiful?”
“I’m telling you, wrong is wrong. You’d better apologize to Lily soon, or I won’t want to spend the rest of my life with someone like you.”
At this point, I finally lifted my head.

“Fine.”
“That’s better…”
“Let’s divorce.”
Dylan Watson stood frozen, his brows furrowed in confusion.
“What did you say?”
“You’re right. We aren’t meant to spend our lives together, Dylan Watson. Let’s divorce.”
“I went to give you the divorce agreement today. Since this happened, I’ll have my lawyer send another copy once I’m discharged.”
I spoke calmly, but Dylan Watson exploded
with rage.

“You think threatening me with a divorce will make me overlook your mistakes?”
“Claire King, you are impossible!”
With that, he slammed the door and left.
I stared at the empty room, blinking. I thought I’d be devastated, but strangely, I felt an unusual calmness inside.
Maybe it was because disappointment had come too many times, and now, I was numb to it.
The next day, I handled my discharge and returned to the house I shared with Dylan Watson.
The living room was filled with the luggage I had already packed. I sat on the couch,

placing the signed divorce agreement and a small glass jar on the table.
My fingers gently brushed over the jar, and the tears I had been holding back fell.
Inside the jar was the embryo of the baby I had lost before being discharged, which I had begged the doctor for.
Although it was tiny, I could faintly make out the shape of little hands and feet.
“Baby, I’m so sorry. Mommy couldn’t protect you.”
“Maybe you shouldn’t have been in this world to be hurt by that so–called father, but Mommy loves you. When you’re ready, come back to Mommy’s side.”
I sat with it for a long time, until nightfall,

before finally standing up and leaving.
Suddenly, my phone vibrated, and I looked down to see a message.
“Claire, I’ve sent you what you asked for.”
I turned back and gazed deeply at the small glass jar.
Don’t worry, baby. Mommy won’t let your death be in vain.
Dylan and Lily will all pay the price they deserve.
I checked into a hotel in the university district.
Early that morning, the campus was filled with the sound of music.

I pulled back the curtains and looked out at the young boys and girls dressed in graduation robes, full of youthful energy.
I opened my phone and saw a message: “Everything is set.” A smile tugged at the corners of my lips.
Looks like there’s going to be a show today.
I put on a plain outfit and headed downstairs. I crossed a few streets and arrived at the gate of A University.
A University was Dylan Watson’s alma mater, and it was also where Lily Hall currently
studied.
From a distance, I spotted a familiar figure.
“Claire, over here!”

I lifted my arm and waved. The girl was Evelyn Wilson, the receptionist at Dylan. Watson’s psychology clinic.
“Today, Dr. Watson is representing the top graduates to give a speech on stage, and Lily Hall has been selected as an outstanding graduate through the back door.”
“Everything is ready. Today, I’ll make sure that adulterous couple steal the spotlight on stage!”
Evelyn Wilson, who was a staff member for the graduation ceremony, led me through. without any obstacles to the backstage.
Even from afar, I caught sight of Dylan
Watson.
He was wearing a deep blue suit, and Lily Hall was affectionately tying his tie.

“Hey, hey, that’s Lily Hall from our class! Look at the size of the diamond ring on her hand! The person next to her must be the boyfriend she’s been talking about in her post, the one she’s about to marry.”
“Boyfriend? That’s Dylan Watson, the proud student that Professor Smith talks about all the time. He’s now a successful businessman, running his own psychology clinic. Lily Hall is really lucky.”
“Lily Hall is our department’s beauty, and Dylan is also quite the looker. They make such a perfect pair, don’t they? I’m so envious!”
I couldn’t help but smile inwardly, hoping that in half an hour, they wouldn’t regret what they had just said.

Evelyn Wilson and I exchanged a look and smiled at each other. She headed into the computer control room with her staff badge, while I found a secluded spot to sit.
The graduation ceremony soon began, with student representatives taking the stage one by one to give speeches. Their school experiences were displayed on the big
screen.
When Lily Hall took the stage, she began her speech with confidence and flair.
Suddenly, a heavy silence fell over the audience. Every face in the crowd wore a different expression.
On the big screen, black background with red letters flashed:
Lily Hall, Mistress, Murderer.
