“What do you mean?” Adeline asked, confused.
“Don’t think that having Mr. Jack backing you means you can walk all over me. The Liu family’s position in the capital is no joke!”
To my surprise, Jack Zhou burst out laughing.
Tired of her nonsense, I pushed my phone toward her.
“You have about fifteen minutes to call anyone for help.”
Looking increasingly worried, Adeline threatened, “Think about the consequences. Even with Mr. Jack here, it might not be enough to save
you!”
I smirked and signaled her to go ahead. She quickly made calls:
– She explained her predicament to Mr. Declan.
– She contacted a second person, offering benefits in return.
The last call made her excited, her tone full of challenge and pride.

After completing all three calls, Adeline resumed her smug posture, anticipating her backup to arrive.
I checked my watch and calmly stated, “Perfect, that took exactly fifteen minutes. Now it’s my turn to make a call…”
With that, I dialed a familiar number.
The call was answered after a few rings, and the Senior Advisor’s voice was tense.
“Declan, how are things? Are you okay?”
I glanced at Adeline, who was acting particularly arrogant, and smirked coldly.
“Don’t worry, Senior Advisor, I’m your reliable assistant. Everything’s fine.”
There was a noticeable sigh of relief from the other end.
But before he could fully relax, I continued.
“However, it seems they aren’t too keen on letting me go without a fight.”
The Senior Advisor paused, his voice turning more serious.
“Tell me where you are right now!”
I stood up with a serious demeanor and replied, “Understood!”
Adeline noticed this and mocked, “Oh, Fiona, what role are you playing here?”
“Others might not know you, but your husband certainly does, right?”
“Logan just told me everything. Your parents are just ordinary workers, and most of your relatives are farmers or laborers. Do you think you can compete with me?”
Hearing her words, I couldn’t help but smile.
“Who said I need to rely on others to solve my problems?”
