The French food was decent. After dinner, Simon Parker drove me home.
His assistant had already delivered my car to my doorstep. My poor white Volkswagen was parked next to Simon Parker’s sleek black Bentley, making it look small and pitiful in comparison.
Just then, Alice Mitchell stormed over with Alan Simpson’s parents in tow.
Mrs. Simpson shot a furious look at Simon Parker.

“Stay out of it, you harpy, Simon Parker snapped, his voice cold.
Alice Mitchell shivered and silently stepped back.
I let out a breath of relief, but just as I thought things had calmed down, Mrs. Simpson collapsed onto the ground, throwing a tantrum.
“Look at this! This shameless couple is having an affair while her own husband is about to be locked up, and she’s refusing to let go of the family fortune–how despicable!”
