Chapter 2
I asked, “Sophia, do you want to marry Michael?”
“But Michael doesn’t want a divorce,” she replied smugly. “I just gave him the divorce papers, and he wouldn’t sign them.”
“Even if you’re pregnant, he still loves me the most, you know?”
“He said he’ll keep the baby and get rid of the mother. He’s planning to let me raise your son as my own!”
“All that scheming, and what did you get? Absolutely nothing.”
After that little tirade, I hung up.

In my dream, I wanted the company shares. The business wasn’t huge, but it brought in a few million a year–steady profits from the company Michael and I built together. I was emotionally attached to it and reluctant to let go of that golden goose.
But Michael stubbornly refused to part with the shares. He dragged out the divorce proceedings until it cost him everything.
Now, I just wanted to trap those two scumbags together. Let him be the “cheap dad” raising someone else’s kid.
That night, I overheard Sophia and Michael arguing.
“Why won’t you divorce Anna? Were you lying to me all along?” Sophia demanded, her voice full of frustration.

“If you don’t divorce her, I’ll terminate this pregnancy. There’s no way I’m letting her raise my child, so don’t even think about it!”
Sure enough, early the next morning, Michael called me while Sophia stood right there, listening.
“Anna, let’s meet at the civil affairs office at 10 a.m.”
My fingers tightened around my glass of water as I calmly asked, “Did you have any issues with the property division in the divorce agreement?”
“The house is yours, we’ll split the money, the car is mine–you don’t drive anyway -and the company shares go to me,” Michael replied after a long pause, glancing nervously at Sophia.

“Michael, your calculations are impressive,” I said, my face burning with anger. “Keep dreaming.”
I hung up and headed straight to a law firm, hiring a lawyer to file for divorce and freeze
our assets.
In my dream, that scumbag had started transferring assets before I could act. But with everything frozen, let’s see how far he gets this time.
I didn’t need the man, but I wasn’t about to give up the money.
With 2 million in savings, I was now a single, wealthy woman with no strings attached.
I heard that Sophia had introduced Michael to a high–return investment project. If the assets were frozen, the deal would fall

through. That’s why Michael was in such a rush to finalize the divorce.
In my dream, Michael’s rival, Carlos, snatched that project, but it ultimately led to disaster. The “Prime Terra Bankruptcy” caused Vista Builders, their partner, to default on a 36–billion–dollars debt, dragging everyone down.
Michael’s company narrowly escaped because of the frozen assets. This time, I was just here to enjoy the show.
Let’s see if Sophia still loves him after he goes bankrupt.
On the day I received my divorce certificate, I went to the lottery shop.
In my dream, I’d spent 50 dollars on a ticket and won 200,000. This time, I upped the

ante: I bought 50,000 tickets with the same seven numbers–10, 11, 20, 21, 27, 40, 41.
It cost me 100,000 dollars, but if I hit the jackpot, I’d win 220 million–tax–free.
I carried the tickets in my oversized LV tote bag, filled with numbers that held sentimental value from my seven–year itch of a marriage.
They say when you lose in love, you win in gambling.
A week later, the lottery shop hung up a massive banner.
“Congratulations to our winner of the 220–million–dollars jackpot!”
I went to claim my prize, fully covered except for my eyes. Better safe than sorry.

After donating 3.75 million, I deposited the remaining 220 million into my bank account: 100 million in a fixed deposit, 100 million in a checking account.
I treated myself to seafood at the mall and was browsing for bags when I heard a familiar voice.
“Anna, is that you? Shopping for bags too?”
It was Sophia, dressed in a fitted dress and heels, her pregnant belly prominently on display. Beside her stood my former mother–in–law.
What are the odds?
I rolled my eyes, sipped my coffee, and ignored them, handing my card to the salesperson.

“Anna, you’re divorced now. You should save your money–once it’s gone, it’s gone,” Sophia said, flashing her ring with a smug smile.
“By the way, Michael proposed! When we get married, you have to come, okay? I hope you’ll give us your blessing.”
She kept chattering, oblivious to the growing audience around us.
If she wanted to flaunt her victory, who was I to disappoint her?
“Sophia, does stealing your best friend’s husband make you happy?” I asked, my voice cold.
“Pregnant before marriage, climbing the ladder as a mistress–proud of yourself?”

“Should I call some reporters and write an exposé? ‘How to Seduce Your Best Friend’s Husband and Successfully Steal Her Life’- catchy, don’t you think?”
The onlookers, including the sales staff, perked up, their eyes gleaming with interest.
A few well–dressed women nearby began muttering, loud enough for Sophia to hear.
“Who knew? It’s not enough to guard against outside women; you have to watch your own friends too.”
“Some people are just rotten to the core. No upbringing at all.”
“Exactly! She looks decent, but who knew she had no shame?”

Sophia’s face turned red, then pale. She looked furious but helpless.
Michael’s mother, ever the sharp–tongued woman, stepped in.
“Anna, you couldn’t have children! It’s not my son’s fault he divorced you!”
“You’re nothing but a barren hen. How dare you curse us? At least Sophia can give us a grandson to inherit the family business!”
