Chapter 2
I wasn’t lying.
After her call went unanswered, Beatrice Meyer sent a photo to Sebastian Clem over WhatsApp.
In the photo, Beatrice Meyer sat alone on the bed, illuminated by a small lamp, revealing her blurred features and her skimpy outfit.
To be honest, I too admire a figure like hers.
Unfortunately, I only had time for a quick glance before she swiftly retracted the message, claiming it was sent to the wrong
person.
I get it, because I used to play these tricks. myself.

But the outcome is quite different when it’s sent to Sebastian Clem.
I would be scolded by Sebastian Clem for being vulgar and unladylike, but Beatrice Meyer would receive Sebastian Clem’s concern and praise.
So after that, I stopped sending photos to Sebastian Clem and even blocked him on social media.
Seeing that Sebastian Clem hadn’t made a move, I couldn’t help but urge him, “Aren’t you leaving?”
He has to go so I can head back to my room and get my beauty sleep.
Being alone with a man at night could put me at a disadvantage!

Sebastian Clem, for some reason, wore a dark expression and restrained his anger, asking, “Zelene Reyes, do you know what time it is?”
I answered truthfully, “It’s almost one.”
“You know it’s already so late, and you still want me to find Beatrice Meyer? Aren’t you afraid…”
I raised my voice, interrupting Sebastian Clem, “But before… you never cared about that. Anytime, anywhere, as soon as Beatrice Meyer called, you’d go.”
Back then, when I was home alone with a high fever of 104 degrees, my temperature wouldn’t drop.
With the last of my strength, I called

Sebastian Clem to come home.
But a girl answered his phone, her voice clear and sweet like a lark:
“What do you want with Seb?”
“He’s busy celebrating my birthday now. He’ll call you when he has time.”
The call was quickly and unceremoniously ended, and I didn’t call back.
On my way to the hospital alone, cold wind blew in through the window, keeping me awake.
Speaking of which, half a month ago was my birthday, too.
I was eagerly looking forward to sitting down with Sebastian Clem for a nice meal and a

chat when his phone rang.
And then he left..
Things like that happened countless times. I’m sure Sebastian Clem knows better than I do.
But to my surprise, after I said it, Sebastian. Clem’s expression softened, and there was a small smile at the corner of his lips:
“Are you jealous? There’s nothing between Beatrice Meyer and me.”
“The company is on break, and I have a month to spend with you. Where do you want to go?”
“By the way, I still owe you a honeymoon trip. I remember you once said you wanted to go to the Maldives?”

I pressed my lips together and didn’t dare to speak.
Next month’s itinerary was already set with my girlfriends.
And I had already been to the Maldives not long ago.
Oh, and I forgot I got married.
And there was that honeymoon trip.
In the end, Sebastian Clem didn’t leave.
He slept in the same bed as me.
I was somewhat frustrated, thinking about how I might hint to Beatrice Meyer to make an extra effort to win over Sebastian Clem sooner rather than later.

Just as I was deep in thought, Sebastian Clem, lying beside me, suddenly spoke:
“Zelene Reyes, you’re married now.”
“Don’t get too close to those unsavory people.”
“Especially men you meet at clubs.”
It felt like being caught by the principal for dating in high school.
My heart nearly stopped. I just closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep.
However, Sebastian Clem
uncharacteristically began to ramble, his voice consistently cold:
“Zelene Reyes, you should learn to behave.”

“Don’t make me worry about you all the time.”
“After all, you’re an adult now, aren’t you?”
I opened my eyes in the darkness and noticed the moon outside was shrouded in dark clouds.
Sebastian Clem comes from a top–tier family, always strict and self–disciplined, with everything in perfect order.
In contrast, I’m carefree and unruly, the epitome of a nouveau riche.
Despite our differences, we ended up together and became spouses.
It’s just that this marriage is now only in name.
