Chapter 101: Nothing Happened
EVANDER
The moment Rui showed me the file, my blood turned to lo
The evidence against Dean was damning–harassment and malpractice, but he never got caught because of his affiliation with the medical director.
It seemed he hadn’t changed one bit.
When I heard that Andy was in the hospital, I felt my heart break into a million pieces.
However, the moment Julia mentioned the name of the hospital, I felt a chill run down my spine.
It was the same hospital Dean was working in, playing the hero while hiding his true nature.
“Call the police,” I said to Rui, feeling anger surge througheny veins. “I’m going to the hospital.”
Rui nodded with furrowed eyebrows. “Be careful, Sir.”
I didn’t respond. My mind was already racing, and Julia and Andy consumed my thoughts.
1 grabbed my car keys and stormed out of the office, my jaw clenched so tightly it ached.
The drive to the hospital was a blur. I pushed the speed limit as much as I could without breaking the law,
knowing Julia would scold me if I did anything reckless. But every second felt like an eternity.
When I finally arrived, the hospital staff recognized me immediately. Heads turned, and a few people even bowed slightly as I strode through the entrance. I didn’t have time for pleasantries.
“Where is Andy Johnson?” I demanded, my voice cutting through the noise of the busy lobby.
The receptionist blinked, startled. “Andy Johnson? 1-1 don’t think we’ve checked in anyone by that name.”
I cursed under my breath, feeling frustrated. Just then, a nurse approached, appearing pale. “Mr. Astor? I helped Andy earlier. He was brought in by Dr. Dean. He’s on Bed C
I didn’t wait for her to finish. I was already moving, my long strides carrying me down the hallway.
When I reached the bed, Sarah was there, sitting beside Ancy’s bed. He looked a little better, but the sight of him hooked to an IV made my chest tighten.
“Evan?” Sarah said, her eyes widening in surprise. “What are you-
“Where’s Julia?” I interrupted, looking around.
Sarah frowned. “She went to the restroom, but it’s been a while now. I was just about to go check on her.”
A cold knot of dread settled in my stomach.
Without another word, I turned and left the room, my heart pounding. I followed the signs to the nearest restroom, my instincts screaming that something was wrong. The hallway was eerily empty; the only sound was the hum of the machines inside the hospital.
When I reached the restroom, the door was locked. I knocked, my patience wearing thin.
Julia? Are you in there?”
No response. But then I heard it–a muffled sound, like someone struggling. My blood ran cold.

I placed my hand on the handle and began opening it with more force. However, it didn’t budge, and the sound of someone struggling became even louder.
“Ah, shit,” I muttered.
Without thinking, I kicked the door, the force of it sending flying open.
The scene inside made my vision turn red. Dean was on the ground, clutching his groin with his face twisted in pain.
Julia stood a few feet away, her clothes disheveled, her lips swollen, and her eyes wide with fear.
“Evan,” she whispered as soon as she saw me.
I didn’t say a word. The rage inside me was too overwhelming. I stormed toward Dean, grabbing him by the collar and slamming him against the wall.
His head hit the tile with a sickening thud, but I didn’t care All I could see was the fear in Julia’s eyes and the knowledge that this man had dared to lay a hand on her.

“You piece of trash,” I snarled. “You think you can touch her? You think with this?”
Dean smirked, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth “Nice seeing you again,” he said.
“I already got a taste, Evander. And you? You’re just as stupid as I thought. Believing those rumors years ago, letting her go. Now Andy and Julia will be mine. You’re too late.”
His words were like gasoline on a fire. I punched him again, my fist connecting with his jaw with a satisfying crunch. He slumped to the ground, but I wasn’t done. I grabbed him again, ready to hit him until he couldn’t speak, couldn’t breathe, and couldn’t even think about coming near Julia or Andy again.
But then Julia’s hand was on my arm. “Evan, enough,” she said, sounding firm despite the tears in her eyes. He’s not worth it.”
I hesitated, my chest heaving with anger.
Dean was still smirking, even as blood dripped from his nose. “She’s right, Anders,” he taunted. “You’re just wasting your time.”
Before I could respond, the sound of footsteps echoed down the hallway. Rui appeared, followed by two police
officers.
“Dean Jones, you’re under arrest for assault, harassment, and medical malpractice,” one of the officers said.
he exclaimed. “That man over
Dran’s smirk faltered, his eyes narrowing, “Why are you the one arresting t there was the one who nearly beat me to death!”
“He assaulted me,” Julia quickly said.
The police officer nodded.
“There’s no evidence!” Dean exclaimed.
The police officer sighed and showed a warrant. “We have testifiers against you, Dr. Dean. Please come with us, or
we have to use some force.”
“What? You can’t do this! I’m a doctor! I
“Save it for the judge,” the officer interrupted, pulling him to his feet.

As they led him away, Dean shot me one last glare, his eyes filled with hatred.
“You will regret this,” he said. However, I knew it was an empty threat. I was sure Rui had talked to the medical director, too.
No matter how well acquainted they were, I was still more important than him.
As soon as he was gone, Julia sank into my arms, her body trembling as she burled her face in my chest.
I held her tightly, my anger slowly giving way to protectiveness. “It’s over,” I whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
However, I was surprised when she began crying and repealing two words over and over again.
“Nothing happened.”
“Nothing happened, Evan. Believe me.
