Chapter 99: Emergency

I didn’t answer him.
Instead, I held onto his shoulders and leaned in. The space was already cramped, but it felt like it closed in even more when my lips touched Evan’s
I could tell he was surprised, probably not expecting me to agree.
Then, he began moving his lips against mine.
I couldn’t help but gasp.
It was a very soft kiss–reminiscent of our first one.
And in a sense, this felt like a new beginning.
It was the complete opposite of the kiss we shared when we talked about everything that had happened years ago. That was heated, urgent, and filled with angst.
This one was a soft, light kiss that spoke of happier feelings. The Ferris Wheel didn’t feel like it was moving. Instead, even as we descended, it felt like we were on top of the world.
He led the kiss, and I let him.
This kiss wasn’t mixed with tears this time, so I could taste him better.
We wanted to take this slowly… whatever this was.
After what felt like forever, we finally broke away. I stared at his handsome face and let out a shaky breath.
He opened his eyes, and I could see myself in them. There was a small smile on my lips and a slight flush to my cheeks.
“I love you,” he said, making me look away.
“Don’t feel bad about not saying it back,” he quickly added. ‘I understand.”
I nodded to myself in assurance. There was still a lot going on inside my mind, but one thing was sure, Evan’s kiss managed to make me forget everything… even for a moment.
“We’re here,” he suddenly said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
The attendant opened the pod and inspected the interior. She narrowed her eyes at our faces, shrugging.
“Well, I did say that kissing was allowed,” she muttered, causing my eyes to widen.
We went out of the pod, and I immediately looked at my reflection on my phone camera. The kiss was so soft that I didn’t think it would do any damage!
However, my lips were really red and a little bit swollen. I turned to Evan, glaring at his normal–looking lips.
“What did you do?” I deadpanned. “Why are my lips so red??
“Couldn’t help myself,” he teasingly smiled. “You were just too sweet.
I glared even harder at him. “How am I going to explain this to Andy?”
“Explain what?” Rui asked from behind us. I froze and slowly turned around.

Chapter 99- Emergency.
They were all there, having just come out of their pods.
I saw Heath coming from a distance, too.
“Are you guys finished?” he asked.
I nodded. He observed my face, tilting his head to the side. Why are your lips so red, though?”
I cleared my throat and turned to the side. “I just ate something spicy,” I explained.
Sarah frowned. “We didn’t have anything spicy, though.”
“I did,” I said, chuckling. “I bought something when you guys were still inside.”
“We were only one pod away,” Rui said in a matter–of–factone.
“Anyway,” I said, clapping. “I think it’s time we go. I have school tomorrow, and I feel pretty tired after painting with Mr. Miyagi yesterday.”
“Yeah, I have to go, too,” Heath said. “The supplier sounded weird. I need to check it myself.”
“I still have some papers to check,” Ellie chimed.
I then turned to Andy, who also appeared tired. “You alright, bub?” I softly asked, holding onto his hand.
His skin felt a bit warm, and his eyes appeared red.
Still, he smiled and nodded, making me sigh in relief. “Do you want to go home now?”
He nodded once more with a yawn. I brought him closer to my body.
“Andy is tired, too,” I said.
“Do you want me to take you home?” Evan and Heath said at the same time. It was almost eerie how they had done this plenty of times–speaking in unison.
I politely shook my head. “I came with Sarah. I’ll be seeing you guys in our next meetings.”
Evan appeared like he wanted to argue, but with one look from me, he shut his mouth.
With that, we parted ways, with Evan’s gaze lingering on me a little bit too long. I shook my head in amusement. He got one kiss, and he already got clingier.
“What really happened?” Sarah asked once we were inside the car.
“What do you mean?”
Sarah sighed. “You know what I mean, Julia. The two of you had sex inside the pod, didn’t you?”
I turned to her with wide eyes. “Sarah!” I exclaimed, covering Andy’s ears. Fortunately, it seemed he was already sleeping.
Sarah chuckled. “I’m joking, but you did kiss, huh? I know that look on your face. You’re falling for him again.”
I pursed my lips and didn’t know how to respond. Instead, covered my face with both hands.
“I get it,” she said after a while. “He was your first and greatest love, also the father of your child. He’s hot as fuck, too. That light hair is doing something good to him.”
“Sarah,” I said in a warning tone.

“Don’t worry,” she chuckled. “I have my eyes on his clumsy assistant, although it seems Ellie likes him, too.”
“Anyway,” she continued. “I just don’t want you to get hur again.”
As she uttered those words, I let out a deep breath.
“Me too,” I muttered.
“If you truly don’t want to get hurt, though, maybe you should give Heath a chance.”
My eyebrows raised in surprise. “I see. You’re in favor of your boss, aren’t you?”
Sarah shrugged. “What can I say? He’s a great boss. He’s a good person, too, I believe. It wouldn’t hurt giving him
a chance.”
Just then, I felt a vibration inside my pocket. I brought out my phone and saw a text from Ellie.
Ellie: My brother really wanted to take you to the amusement park. Sorry for joining in! Still, I hope you enjoyed it. Tell Andy I’ll see him tomorrow <3.
I let out a deep breath, my mind in shambles.
“We’re near, bub,” I said after a while, gently shaking Andy awake.
However, he didn’t respond, and his body felt weak against mine.
1 frowned and made him face me, only to be met with a concerning sight.
“Andy?” I exclaimed.
Sarah glanced at us. “What’s happening?”
I turned to her, filled with worry. “Sarah, let’s go to the hospital.”
