Chapter 66: Do You Still Love Him?

‘Retiring?” I asked Gianna, who was interrupted when our substitute professor came in. He just wrote the questions we would be answering on the board and went on his way, saying he would be back to collect them by the end of the period.
The others also turned toward Gianna’s way, curious about her revelation.
“That’s what I heard,” she said. “I had to pass a late assignment to my photography teacher, and it was the talk of the entire faculty room.”
“Why is that, though?” Harper asked with a frown. “It seems like Mrs. White does not have any plans on retiring. this year… or for the many years to come.
“That’s what I thought, too,” Gianna said.
I glanced at Heather and saw that her face had gone pale. So, it seemed that she was also unaware of what was happening.
“Who could it be?” 1 muttered.
“There’s another thing I saw that I could only tell the two of you,” she whispered, gesturing us to come closer.
Harper and I leaned closer to her.
“I saw your boyfriend there,” she whispered, staring at me
1 frowned in confusion. “I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“Ah, sorry,” she chuckled. “Andy’s father.”
My frown deepened even more, and before I knew it, I had stood up.
The two of them looked at me with wide eyes.
“Where did you last see him?” I asked.
Gianna smirked. “In the faculty room. You better hurry, though. He was on his way out when I saw him.”
I nodded and went out of the room, thankful that the substitute decided to leave after giving us our assignment.
I walked to the faculty room, looking around for any signs of Evan. I frowned when I saw that the faculty–room didn’t have any visitors. I sighed and shook my head.
Was he gone already?
“Umm, how are you?”
I turned around and was faced with Evan. He had a suit on, so I assumed he was on his way to work.
I narrowed my eyes at him. “What are you doing here?” I asked.
He cleared his throat and looked to the side, not answering my question. However, from the look on his face, I already knew.
“It was Sarah, wasn’t it?” I asked. “She put you up to this?
Evan pursed his lips before nodding. “I was surprised when received a call from her. She called me all sorts of

curses,” he muttered, “then told me that I should watch my girlfriend better.
“You should,” I deadpanned.
He nodded before sighing. “And then, she told me the whole story.”
“And you came here because?”
“Because I know the truth,” he said. “Sarah has a CCTV set up in her art room, and I showed it to Mrs. White. I also told her that she shouldn’t deliberately give students a hard time just so she could be called a terror teacher. I had talked with the headmaster as well, and he agreed.”
“It seems like she took it to heart, though, as she announced that she’ll be retiring this semester,” he concluded.
1 bit my lip as I listened to his story. “Umm, do you think she’ll reverse the grade?”
He nodded. “Well, her pride cannot take that, too,” he chuckled. “I’m assuming she’s not going to consider that project in the grading system anymore.”
I tried my best not to show my happiness, but it peeked through with a smile.
Here I was, already thinking of ways on how I could suck up to Mrs. White, but Evan had actually helped me.
“Don’t be so happy,” he suddenly said, making me tilt my head in confusion.
“I’m just doing the bare minimum,” he muttered, which softened my expression.
He then glanced at his watch. “I should get going now. I still have work to do in my office.”
I nodded, taking a step back. Even if I had convinced myself that I didn’t like him anymore, my heart was still racing inside my chest.
As he walked away, I couldn’t help but call out his name one more.
“Evan,” I said.
He stopped for a while before glancing back.
“Hmm?” he hummed.
“Thank you,” I softly said. “I really appreciate it.”
He turned around fully and smiled at me, causing my breath to hitch. This kind of smile–it had been a while since I had seen it.
“You’re welcome,” he responded. “But like I said, this is just the minimum, Julia.”
“Don’t settle for it.”
We stayed there for a while, just staring at each other with small smiles.
“Go back to your classroom now,” he said.
“No, you should go,” 1 muttered.
“Just go, Julia,” he insisted with a chuckle. “I’ll leave when you walk away.”
I pursed my lips and realized I wasn’t going to win our conversation. So, with that, I turned around and walked to
our classroom.
I glanced back for a second and saw him still standing there

I shook my head in amusement. Again, I knew that we still had a lot of unsettled baggage. However, for some reason, I felt that something changed for the better this time.
I entered the classroom once again and found that Heather wasn’t in her seat. I brushed it off and went to sit with my friends.
“How did it go?” Gianna asked, wiggling her brows.
Harper also had a teasing grin on her face. “Is your issue with Mrs. White resolved?”
“I guess so,” I muttered, avoiding their gazes.
Gianna nudged my shoulder. “You know, I hated that guy to begin with. However, it seems like he’s actually pretty decent.”
Meanwhile, Harper shook her head. “Don’t let one good action redeem himself to you. I’ve seen way too many movies where the man needs to regret more, but the woman easily gives him a second chance! Don’t be that girl,” she said.
Gianna clicked her tongue. “Are you hearing yourself? You’re talking about movies, Harper. It does not happen in real life.”
“Movies take inspiration from real life,” Harper deadpanned.
“Don’t fight now,” I chuckled, shaking my head.
Then, the two of them turned to me. “You know what’s an important question to ask here?” Harper asked, placing her hand on my shoulder.
“Do you still love him?”
They looked at me expectantly–Gianna with wide eyes and Harper with narrowed ones.
