Chapter 75: Chased
JULIA
“Come with me. I’ll take you home,” Evan said, still holding onto my wrist. It was tight enough to keep me rooted but still gentle enough so it wouldn’t hurt.
“I think it’s much better if I take her home,” the other guy, whose name I still didn’t know, said.
Evan raised both eyebrows. “Does she even know your name?” he asked.
The blonde guy turned to me and smiled. “How’s it going? My name’s Heath, by the way.”
“There,” he said, turning to Evan with a small smirk. “Now she knows my name.”
“You don’t know where she lives,” Evan deadpanned.
“Oh, I know,” Heath said, referencing the time I mistook him for a taxi cab. “Why don’t you go back in there and see how you could salvage the party? It seems like your objective of collaborating with Mr. Miyagi is now out of the window.”
Evan was about to retort something, but just then, Sarah honked her car.
I pursed my lips and forcefully removed my wrists from both of their holds.
“Thanks,” I muttered, though it didn’t sound sincere.
“I have my own ride,” I said before running away from the two of them. It seemed like it was perfect timing because the security guards burst out of the doors then and there.
I hastily slammed the car door, causing Sarah to complain.
“Hey, easy on her!” she exclaimed.
“She’s had worse,” I frantically said. “Now, drive if you don’t want to be detained by those security men.”
Her eyes widened, sensing the urgency in my voice. And with that, she stepped on the gas and drove us away from Astoria Grande.
For the first few minutes, I kept my gaze behind us, trying to see if someone was trailing behind. When I didn’t see any unusual activity, I sighed in relief. So, I focused my gaze on the front and settled in my seat.
I also turned on the radio to calm my nerves.
“Is it alright to talk now?” Sarah said.
I nodded.
She let out a deep breath before asking loudly, “What the fuck was that?”
I puffed my cheeks before covering my face with both hands. “I don’t know,” I said after a while.
“You know, when I saw you at the door with those two hunky men, I honked to let you know that I had your back!” she said. “So, if you went home with one of them or even two, I could drive you to a respectable motel.”
“Sarah,” I exclaimed. “Why would I go to a motel with two guys?”
What?” Sarah asked. “They looked decent enough from afar. I couldn’t really tell who they were, but I received good vibes.”

“One of them was Evan,” I deadpanned.
“Oh, you would like that, wouldn’t you? You have mentioned that he has a really big dic-
“Sarah,” I said in a warning tone. “Let’s stop talking about this, please.”
Sarah pursed her lips before nodding in resignation. “Fine,” she muttered. “But can we please talk about why you were being chased by security?”
I leaned against the headrest and looked outside of the window. “Garyn Astor happened.”
“What?” she exclaimed, “He followed you there to pester you on the issue with Andy?”
I shook my head. “He was just there. Apparently, this was a party organized by the Astor empire. I should have known because it was being held in Astoria Grande.”
“Not
at every party held in the Astoria Grande is affiliated with the Astors,” she pointed out.
“Yeah, but this one is,” I sighed. “Apparently, they threw this party so they could initiate a collaboration with Mr. Miyagi for their apparel line.”
“Oh dang, they really are business–minded people. They know what’s up. A lot of people would eat up that collaboration, and it would bring them tons of money!”
I nodded in agreement.
“Well, that’s honestly the least of our problems. I’m low–key wishing it doesn’t go well because I want to see Garyn Astor disappointed. Anyway, let me ask the important question–were you able to pass the project to Mr. Matthews?”
I pursed my lips, not bothering to respond.
“Julla,” she said. “You went there for two things! One was to pass your project to Mr. Matthews. What if he fails you?”
“I know,” I exasperatedly said. “But I was out of time. I’d much rather have to pass the project late than deal with big, burly security.”
She sighed and shook her head. “Then, please tell me you got a photo with Mr. Miyagi, at least.”
I stayed silent once more, making her chuckle in disbelief.
“It’s worse,” I muttered, causing her to halt.
She glanced at me for a second before focusing on the road once again.
“Worse? What do you mean by that? Did you get a insulted by him or something?
“No,” I said, shaking my head. “I left my artwork in one of the rooms.”
“I told you not to leave it behind,” Sarah said, clicking her tongue.
“Well, Mr. Miyagi saw it and was interested. Then, he told me that it was an artwork that encapsulated his feelings during his hiatus very well–and that it inspired him to create something again.”
“Shut up,” Sarah said with wide eyes. I could tell she was going to do something reckless, so I quickly shook my head
“Don’t step on the brakes! Or the gas,” I said. “Just keep this pace now.”

I sighed in relief when she did what I had told her.
“Mr. Miyagi liked your artwork?” she exclaimed loudly.
“Yes,” I said. “And he offered me an opportunity to work with him.”
Sarah’s mouth continued to gape open. “For the collaboration, right?” she excitedly asked. “He wants you to work with him for Astor Apparel?”
“Maybe?” I asked, still unsure because our conversation was cut short.
“You bitch!” she said.
“What?” I asked. “Why are we cursing now?”
“Don’t you realize? You can hit two birds with one stone!”
