Chapter 10
In the blink of an eye, Darnell stood in front of me and raised his hand to stop Lexie’s charge.
The sharp blade pierced into the arm, and blood gushed out instantly.
The security personnel quickly pinned Lexic to the ground.
Lexie’s face was being stepped on the ground, but suddenly she burst into laughter and said, “Frida, you promiscuous woman, hahaha. You will get your comeuppance sooner or later!”
Inervously supported Darnell, “Darnell! Darnell! Are you okay?”
Behind me, Alberto stared blankly at my receding figure, wanting to speak but unable to utter a single word.
In the hospital, I watched as the doctor treated Darnell’s wound.
Fiona was anxiously pacing beside: “Uncle, I was just busy in the venue, how did you get injured?
You’re so useless…”
Darnell glanced at Fiona, and suddenly she realized. Her eyes shifted, and she said, “Um, I’ll go pay the fees first…” After saying that, Fiona quickly left.
I apologetically said to Darnell, “I’m sorry, Darnell, I hurt you.”
Darnell smiled calmly and said, “Actually, I am glad that it was me who got hurt.”
I looked at her with mixed emotions and said, “Darnell, you must have heard what Lexie and the
others just said.”
“My past, in fact, had many unpleasant experiences.” “I moved here because I had a failed
marriage with Alberto.”
Darnell held my hand and said, “Frida, every relationship had its
own purpose.”
“Unrequited love only signifies incompatibility, not your unworthiness.”
“I could wait, wait until you were willing to let me into your world.”
I sighed lightly and reached out to touch his cheek that had been hit by Lexie. “Does it hurt? I’m sorry, it’s all my fault.”
Darnell stopped me from continuing to berate myself, saying, “It’s not your fault, blame that crazy
woman instead.”
I couldn’t help but laugh, but then my expression turned somewhat melancholic. “I’m sorry, Darnell, my heart has been broken a few times before, and maybe it will take a long time for you to wait…”

Darnell chuckled lightly, his magnetic voice bringing an extra sense of comfort.
“It’s okay, then I’ll wait for you, plece by piece.”
“Don’t worry, I never forced you to do anything you didn’t want to do.”
“Let me stand by your side, even if only as a friend. Do you know that when you are working seriously, your whole being is radiating light.”
The next morning, I actually saw Alberto again downstairs at the company.
