Chapter 11
Looking at the confusion that flashed across his face, Ruby became even more amazed.
She had thought that Joyce just hadn’t mentioned that she was going abroad, but she didn’t expect
that she hadn’t even mentioned the divorce.
Where did they get their divorce agreement from?
Zander stared at the divorce agreement in his hand, and the anger in his heart seemed to have spread to his eyes.
He had thought that Joyce had only reached a divorce agreement with him, but he never expected that she had already completed the divorce procedures and even obtained the divorce certificate!
He remembered that there was a cooling–off period before receiving the divorce certificate.
In other words, just over a month ago, Joyce had already prepared herself for a divorce!
Facing Ruby’s puzzled gaze, he casually said a few words.
Later, he asked Ruby again why she had arranged for him to be with Elianna.
Ruby smiled slightly.
“In the past, you were completely enchanted by Elianna, and now that Elianna is back, you have broken up with Joyce again. It’s only now that I realize…”
In the past, everyone thought they were not compatible, but now that they are both single again, everyone thinks they are quite suitable.
He felt a little uneasy in his heart.
“However, I did not agree to the divorce.”
For some reason, when he heard that he was going to divorce Joyce, he suddenly became fearfuld
anxious.
Three years of marriage had made him accustomed to Joyce’s care. Losing her, he couldn’t imagine
how terrible life would become.
Moreover, Joyce had deep feelings for him, and her divorce was undoubtedly an impulsive act
driven by emotions.
As for Elianna, he did indeed have strong feelings for her, after all, she was his beloved from his youth that he couldn’t forget. He had pursued her for so many years, but he found it difficult to let go of Joyce.
Looking at the conflicting struggle in Zander’s eyes, Ruby took out another document.

When Zander caught sight of the words “return contract” on the document, along with Joyce’s signature at the bottom, his eyes widened in an instant.
“Mom, what exactly happened?”
After all, he was her own flesh and blood, and Ruby didn’t want to hide anything from him.
“When Elianna got married and went abroad years ago, you became so depressed, so I thought of finding someone to help you get back on your feet.”
Joyce, wanting to repay her, happened to think of a plan, so the two of them discussed it and reached an agreement.
As long as Joyce accompanied Zander for three years and helped him overcome this emotional
loom, her task would be considered successfully completed.
I have to say, Joyce has done impeccably in the past three years.
But she also always made sure to keep her distance, so she always referred to Ruby as her aunt.
Ruby initially thought that if Elianna never appeared again, she would consider Joyce as her own daughter–in–law.
Little did they know that after three years, Elianna would set off for her homeland, only for her son
to be involved in a car accident in his attempt to reunite with her.
Ruby was still hesitating about how to broach the subject when Joyce proposed ending the contract
first.
After Ruby finished speaking, Zander couldn’t take in anything she said.
He held onto the contract tightly, his hands trembling, unable to think about anything.
What was his mother saying?
Has Joyce only been nice to him for the past three years in order to repay a debt?
Did Joyce never truly love herself?
After Elianna returned to her country, she was eager to get a divorce, but her deep affection and
care were not false.
If she didn’t love him anymore, how could she have jumped into the sea to save him, and how could she have taken care of him for three years?
He stared at the agreement in front of him with an unpleasant expression on his face. It detailed the tasks that Joyce had to accomplish over the next three years.
The more I looked at his expression, the more it became dimmer and dimmer.

From ensuring his personal safety to handling all the household chores, she had to personally take care of everything.
Everything good she did for him was solely because of that contract.
There were no personal feelings involved.
