Chapter 4
Although it was a compliment, I could still sense the sarcasm in it.
I chuckled at myself and gestured for them to all down.

After proving his innocence, Darnell felt much more at ease. He sat by the edge of the bed and held my hand, sincerely saying, “Kyra, you know, I have only loved you in my entire life. I won’t be attracted to any other woman except you.”
I gave a faint “hmm” and ignored the disappointment in Darnell’s eyes as I withdrew my hand.
Then Darnell seemed to think of something and added, “Kyra, I will be on a business trip tomorrow
and won’t be able to accompany you. However, my phone will be on 24/7 for you. If you miss me,
just give me a call.”
He expressed his deep affection sincerely, without a trace of insincerity.
I suppressed the discomfort in my heart and nodded in response, “Then be safe on your way.”
I caught a flash of guilt in his eyes and then heard his slightly aggrieved voice.
“But I really can’t bear to be without you, even though it’s only for one day, I don’t want to be separated from you for a single minute.”
“Once we adopted the child, we might as well hand over the company to him, so that I wouldn’t have to run around and be in a long–distance relationship with you.”
If I didn’t know that he got married to Nadia in these seven days, I would probably be moved by his
words.
Finally, Darnell reluctantly kissed my forehead and left the ward.
As soon as he left, I left the hospital. After packing up things from home, I placed a divorce agreement on the living room table and then boarded the plane to Linport.
Before boarding the plane, I deleted and blocked all of Darnell’s contact information, completely saying goodbye to him.
Sitting on the plane, I saw the city where I had lived for over thirty years getting smaller and smaller through the window. The heavy stone that had been weighing on my heart finally dissipated.
- Darnell, I never saw him again. The next morning, I successfully arrived in Linport and chose a homestay after doing some research online.
And at this moment, Darnell was getting married to Nadia.
Just before he stepped into the church, he didn’t forget to ask the doctor about my condition.
The doctor told him that since he left, I had been sleeping all the time and asked everyone not to disturb me, and that I would call them when she woke up.
After listening to the doctor’s report, he finally felt relieved and entered the church. However, for some reason, his mind was still filled with thoughts of me. Last night, he even had a dream where I asked him for a divorce, which startled him awake. He immediately called the doctor to confirm that I was still sleeping, and only then did he let go of the worry that had been hanging over him.
But this uneasiness remained in Darnell’s heart, and as time went by, it grew stronger. His heart began to drift away, and he didn’t even hear the emcee asking him if he would marry the bride.
In the end, it was Nadia who shook his hand to wake him up. He looked into Nadia’s eyes full of love, but in his mind flashed the image of me looking disappointed at him.
He was startled and immediately let go of Nadia’s hand, turning around and running out towards
the church.
“Mr. Guzman, the wedding hasn’t ended yet, where are you going?”
He only realized now that I was so important to him, how could he marry another woman behind my back?
Kyra, you must wait for me.
Darnell rushed back to the hospital, got out of the car, and headed straight to the ward. It wasn’t until he saw me lying in bed, covered with a blanket, sleeping through the door that his heart finally
eased a little.
He pushed open the door of the ward and walked in, with a gentle smile on his face.
“Honey, I’m back!”
The person on the bed did not react, so Darnell carefully lifted the blanket. The smile on his face froze instantly when he saw that instead of me, there was a pillow underneath the blanket.
What about his Kyra?!
