Chapter 8
Our tour guide was a very young man named Mateo Fitzpatrick, who was of mixed race and looked very handsome.
Most of the girls in the group came for his looks.
However, he was a bit aloof, and he didn’t respond to anything other than work–related questions.
Before preparing to climb the snow mountain, he checked everyone’s safety measures one by one to see if there were any issues. When it was my turn, he looked at me deeply.
His gaze was somewhat strange as if we had known each other before.
But he didn’t say anything and just took us on the road after confirming that I had taken safety
measures.
When I was with Darnell before, he didn’t allow me to play thrilling activities because he was
worried about my physical condition.
But he didn’t know that I had always been an adventurous person, the more thrilling outdoor
activities, the more I liked them.
I just didn’t want him to worry, so after we got married, I no longer engaged in these outdoor
activities.
Before this, my favorite activity was skiing. These years I haven’t been able to go skiing, so
whenever I see videos of others skiing on TV, I always feel an itch in my heart.
I never thought I would have the chance to ski again. When I stepped back onto the skis and glided on the snow, at that moment, my soul felt liberated and instantly felt incredibly relaxed.
I just didn’t expect that, as I was about to reach the finish line, an out–of–control skier suddenly rushed out and crashed into me, unable to stop his skis.
I was knocked down to the ground, and the tremendous force caused my body to roll uncontrollably
downwards. Eventually, I fell heavily at the finish line, crying out in pain. My mouth was also filled
with snow.
Upon seeing the situation, the others quickly approached to investigate. Mateo rushed to the front
and carried me sideways, taking me to the nearby small house.
“Are you okay?” There was a hint of concern in his clear eyes.
I rubbed my sore back and shook my head, “It’s okay, just a little bit painful. It should be fine in a
while.”

ittle did he know, he frowned and said, “No, I will take you to the hospital for a check–up. Some
internal injuries cannot be detected.”

Regardless of my reaction, he immediately took me to the hospital and had an X–ray taken to confirm that I was not seriously injured. Only then did he finally breathe a sigh of relief.
I looked at his tense expression and sincerely thanked him, “Thank you today, Mateo.” “Taking care of you all is my job.” Mateo remained unfazed and nodded, “It’s almost six o’clock, let me take you to rest,”
Afterward, under Mateo’s guidance, I returned to the residence and, after a simple meal, lay down on the bed and fell asleep.
