“Anyone is better than being with you!”
Sophia Williams sneered:
“Jack, Ms. Coleman is so rich, she never runs out of men. It’s not like her reputation for being a man–eater is just for show!‘
Hearing someone slander me, Ethan looked coldly at Sophia:
“Miss, please watch your words. Ms. Coleman is the woman I like. It’s not your place as an outsider to criticize her decisions.”
Jack Sullivan sighed softly, ignoring me and grabbing Ethan’s collar.
Ethan didn’t back down, grabbing Jack Sullivan in return. The two stood in a deadlock.
“Ethan, I’m warning you, stay away from Mia Coleman, or I won’t let you off easy!”

I was bewildered by these words.
I looked at Jack Sullivan, confused.
“What do you mean? Do you two know each other?”
Ethan chuckled softly:
“Big sis, I’ll explain later.”
“Mia Coleman, he’s not a good person!”
I rolled my eyes at him and got into the car with Ethan.
As we left, I heard Sophia Williams grabbing Jack Sullivan.
“Jack, you’re divorced now. Stop stirring up trouble.”
Ethan didn’t say a word the whole way, making the atmosphere awkward.
“Ethan, are you hiding something from me?”
Ethan stared out the window, and after a long pause, he slowly spoke.

“Big sis, actually, that first time we met, I approached you intentionally. But I really do like you.”
“Tell me, what’s your goal?”
Ethan might be young, but he’s full of schemes. I could see right through him.
I might be a sucker for good looks, but I’m not blinded by love.
“The downfall of the Sullivan family years ago was the result of their conflict with the Guthrie family. Although the Sullivans‘ fate was tragic, my mother died in a car accident engineered by them. They erased all evidence, and the police closed the case, calling it just an accident.”
I frowned.
“So you…”
“The Sullivan family killed my mother. I must have my revenge.”
I laughed: “So I became a pawn in your revenge plot?”
Ethan anxiously explained:
“No, you were just an accident. At first, I approached you only because I heard you had divorced Jack Sullivan. I just wanted to gather some information.”
I felt a bit angry inside.
But what came out of my mouth was:
“Oh, it’s fine. You were just an accident for me too.”
My tone was flat because I was trying hard to hide my emotions.
Ethan, probably afraid I would stop talking to him, pulled the car over to the side of the road.
He said solemnly:
“Big sis, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hide this from you.”

I pushed him away, my tone cold.
“Your business with Jack Sullivan has nothing to do with me. Let’s not see each other anymore.”
I opened the car door and left.
The night wind was strong, and I shivered all over despite wrapping my coat tightly around me.
Thinking about how in all these years, there hadn’t been a single person who truly cared for me, I felt a chill in my heart.
My father was busy with work, my mother busy traveling.
Jack Sullivan was just for show.
The next day at a company meeting, I was dog–tired.
My assistant kept elbowing me.
It wasn’t until the design director mentioned a name during his presentation that I perked up.
“Wait, wait, wait. Who did you just say?”
