Seeing him not move, I stared directly at him.
“Do you believe that a wealthy wife, a former heiress, would be threatened by me? I am not that capable.”
After saying this, Bryan stood up straight and prepared to walk to the door.
I called out to him from behind.
“And I suggest you check your son’s DNA. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
In my past life, Zoey and Derron hollowed out his company and then left with his son.
Even when they went out with Derron a few times, they took that kid.
At first, I thought the child was just unattended.
But now that I think about it, it would be a problem.
Hearing this, Bryan’s hand under his suit suddenly clenched, veins bulging.
Returning to the room, Zoey looked panicked.
Seeing her expression, I knew I had bet correctly.
They, indeed, hadn’t had time to deal with the evidence.
Seeing Bryan expressionlessly take her away, she finally breathed a sigh of
relief.
But the news about me online quickly went viral. For a while, I became the target of widespread online criticism.
The phrase “guard against fire, theft, and best friends” trended on social media.
Everyone was filled with righteous indignation.

I even promised that after this matter was resolved, I would return to the village and stay with them.
But they were still not satisfied.
They insisted on waiting for me to surrender.
“How can we leave you at ease if you’re like this?”
I looked at my mother’s red eyes, filled with weary blood vessels.
The guilt in my heart grew heavier.
“Just wait. Things will be resolved soon.”
Zoey wouldn’t be happy for long.
My parents reluctantly left.
I didn’t wait long.
Three days later, Bryan stepped into the room.
In just three days, I could hardly recognize the man in front of me.
His chin was covered with dark stubble. He looked much more haggard.
His eyes were a mix of anger and disappointment. Eventually, it turned into a look of defeated desolation.
His leather shoes finally stopped in front of me.
He spoke weakly, “Did you know all along?
“I found out. Back in the village, she and Derron have been together since middle school. They fooled around every day and almost got expelled several times.”
Hearing this, I showed no surprise.
What he found out was just a few things.
After a moment, he spoke again, “They were about to get married. Zoey proposed the idea of going to a city. She wasn’t willing to stay in the village for the rest of her life. Derron came here with her to keep her company.”
Seeing no surprise on my face, he let out a bitter laugh.
“You knew all this?”
I nodded slightly.
How could I not know?
From the beginning, I was the one covering for th
