Chapter 8
Trix’s POV
The next day, wouldn’t you know it, I got hit with a lawsuit from the Hurst family. They were accusing Big Dream Entertainment of unfair competition, claiming we’d swooped in to outbid them and steal all their partnerships. I couldn’t help but laugh and immediately told our finance team to counter–sue.
See, the Hursts had been quietly pirating and selling copyrights for all kinds of movies and music projects, making quick cash on the side. And here’s the kicker- about eighty percent of those works belonged to Big Dream Entertainment subsidiaries. I doubt they even realized whose stuff they were stealing. Not only that, but we‘ d legally won those partnerships, and we paid double for them fair and square.
Before long, I heard the Hurst family

wanted to withdraw their suit and
negotiate over our counter–suit. I told Iris to turn them down flat. They went looking for trouble themselves, so why should I hold back?
Later that evening, as I rolled up to my home in Washington D.C., who should be waiting outside but Leroy and Velma. My place was a luxury villa, right in the heart of the city. I parked my sports car, pushed my sunglasses down, and gave them a cold smile.
“What are you two doing hanging around. outside my house?”
Leroy glared at me, looking downright stunned. “You mean to tell me you live in a place like this? I thought you were just a street food vendor!”
“Let me correct you, Mr. Hurst, I’m not just a food vendor in your eyes,” I trailed away coolly. “But walking organ donor–a
‘lifesaver‘ with a heart meant for
Lauren. Am I right?”

His face darkened, and he ground out,
“I’m here for two reasons. First, drop the counter–suit against Hurst Corp. Second, go to the hospital and give Lauren your heart.”
“You’ve got some gall, Mr. Hurst. But why would I listen to you?”
Velma‘ s face turned pleading, and she spoke up, sounding desperate. “Alexia, we’re still your biological parents, and Lauren’s your sister. How could you be so heartless as to refuse to save her?”
I looked at her in the eye, calm as a still lake. “The ones who raised me, who loved me, were Victor and Esme Kennedy. Not a pair of cold–hearted wolves like you. Get off my property, or I’ll have security toss you out.”
Leroy glanced over at the guards by the villa gate–big men, watching us closely- and looked tense. He shouted, “Alexia! Don’t push me to desperation, or I’ll make sure you regret it!”

“Go ahead, then,” I replied calmly. “Let’s see what you‘ ve got. And stop calling me your daughter–you don’t deserve that. Don’t call me Alexia, either; I never accepted that name.”
With that, I hit the remote for the villa gate, and it swung open. The engine growled as I pulled my car in. The Hursts tried to force their way in after me, but the guards threw them right back out.
Afterward, Iris edited together a video of the whole thing. She included everything- my days selling food on the streets, how the Hursts took me in, only to lock me up and try to take my heart. She posted it online.
It didn’t take long before my millions of fans and countless folks across the internet were up in arms. They couldn’t believe. that a top idol like me got tricked by her
own parents, all for the sake of stealing her heart.
This was enough to charge them with

Soon, the Hurst family‘ s accounts were overrun with furious comments, and crowds even gathered outside their mansion, demanding an apology and that they turn themselves in.
