Kristina bit her lip, thinking twice about bringing a guy to a girls‘ meeting. “Trenton, I might not be able to give you my full attention with my friend around. How about I take you home for a nap? I’ll come back once you’re up.”
“No way!” Trenton hugged her, his arms wrapping around her waist. He was all muscle and strength, but right now, he looked like a big, adorable puppy clinging to his favorite person. His handsome face softened with a hint of vulnerability.
Kristina’s heart melted. She couldn’t resist his charm, especially with that look. She ran her fingers through his hair, then agreed to let him come along, thinking an adorable kid might make things more fun.
The group was supposed to meet in the square right off Goldsun Street.
Yasmine arrived in an orange Hermès dress and a cream beret, looking bright and cute. She hadn’t expected Trenton to come along, and for a second, her smile froze. She felt a sudden wave of nerves.
She knew Kristina had married Trenton and had heard how intimidating the business giant could be. Even from a distance, he gave off this cool, standoffish vibe that made people uneasy.
Yasmine had only seen Trenton in photos and magazines before. Now, standing in front of him, she felt a little off–balance. “Hello, Mr. McClain… I’m Yasmine,” she said, her voice trembling just a bit.
Kristina cleared her throat awkwardly and gave Trenton a gentle nudge with her elbow. “Say hi. She’s my best friend,” she whispered.
Trenton smiled a little, still looking cool and collected. “Hello, I’m Trenton.”
Yasmine’s jaw dropped. She couldn’t believe her eyes. Trenton, the top business mogul who was not one for romance and terrified everyone with his ruthless business moves, was acting like a total softie.
She glanced at Kristina, impressed. ‘Kristina really knows how to handle her man. Maybe I should ask her for some tips,‘ she thought.
Her eyes lit up as she suggested, “Alright, let’s get this party started. It’s rare we all get together like this. I’m taking everyone somewhere awesome.”
They pulled up to a fancy skyscraper–it was Avalis’s most upscale club, the kind where only the top people got in.
Yasmine leaned over to Kristina, her eyes sparkling. “I heard there’s a big performance tonight. I only got these tickets because of my brother.”
But something was off. Normally, the club was strict about IDs, but membership usually got guests in. Today, though, people needed a special wristband, and only people with an insider’s stamp could get in.
At the entrance, staff were scanning QR codes on the stamps with machines, double–checking each guest’s details. It was seriously bizarre and made them wonder what kind of event required so much secrecy.
“Yasmine, do you know what kind of show we’re going to?” Kristina asked, glancing at Trenton nervously. She’d brought her husband along, and she was hoping it wasn’t some crazy boy band with a wild performance.
She quickly pulled Yasmine aside. “Listen, if this place is gonna be inappropriate, I’m out. My husband would go ballistic.”
Yasmine chuckled. “Relax. My brother wouldn’t let me go if it was sketchy. He gave me four wristbands, thinking I’d bring a bunch of friends, but honestly, you’re the only one I wanted to be here with.”
She glanced over at Trenton and added, “And now we’ve got Mr. McClain, too.”
With everything sorted, the group headed inside.
