- 3.
This was the first time in five years that I was taken out of the dark cell.
When the sunlight hit me, I screamed like a frightened mouse and tried to run away.
Adrian Bright caught me and dragged me into the villa.
On the spacious sofa in the villa sat several heavily made–up women.
“Mr. Bright…” They stood up to greet Adrian Bright. One of them even came over to kiss him.
In front of me, Adrian Bright passionately embraced her.
“Lily, take her upstairs for a bath and clean her up,” he said to the woman.
The woman named Lily glanced at me sideways, “Come with me, bitch.”
It took Lily and the other women an entire afternoon to clean the dirt and fleas off my body.
Hot water washed over my skeletal frame. My ribs were clearly visible, and I looked like a walking corpse.
Five years had taken their toll. The once beautiful FBI agent Chloe Summer had become a living dead.
Lily was brushing my hair, speaking softly, “Don’t get any ideas. Mr. Bright is not the same man he was years ago. If you want to live another day, just behave yourself.”
“Lily, you can leave now,” Adrian Bright appeared at the door.
Lily gave me a warning look before leaving.
Adrian Bright stood behind me, looking at my reflection in the mirror. His long, slender fingers brushed through my hair, down my neck, across my collarbone, and slipped inside my collar, slowly moving downward.
frowned, unable to hide my disgust.
He stopped.
Suddenly, he grabbed my hair, forcing me to tilt my head back.
“Look at yourself now! No one would want to see you even if you were naked!” he snarled viciously.
“Daddy!” A little girl’s voice came from the doorway.

Adrian Bright paused for a moment and released my hair.
“Daddy, you finally brought Mommy out!” The little girl ran over, looking up at me intently. “Mommy is so pretty, just too thin. Mommy needs to eat more meat.”
I looked at her, my eyes welling up.
Is this really my child? Is she really my child?
“Hailey, how about Daddy takes you and Mommy out for steak tonight?” Adrian Bright said.
“That’s great!” Hailey jumped and laughed.
I didn’t know how she had grown up to be so innocent and lively in this den of evil. On the way to the restaurant, she kept smiling, interested in everything outside the car window.
Adrian Bright spoke to her gently, his eyes no longer showing their usual cruelty.
As I watched this “father and daughter, my thoughts drifted back to over twenty years ago.
That year, I was also five years old.
