Chapter 10
Sheila walked up to the stage, holding the speech she had prepared earlier, and began speaking.
Lindsey smiled faintly and changed into a cinched–waist dress. The style was simple, but it perfectly showcased her figure.
She hadn’t bothered with makeup, and wore slippers as she descended. The rhythmic sound of her slippers echoed, making it difficult for Shrila to continue with her speech.
Annoyed, Sheila looked up and immediately noticed the sparkling necklace around Lindsey’s neck.
Lindsey exuded a relaxed, carefree aura as she walked down in a casual way.
Man, somewhat excited, nudged Shawn with his elbow. “Wow, Shawn, this girl is stunning. She’s totally my type”
Shawn’s eyes darkened suddenly,
v, and his voice turned cold as ice. “Don’t you dare say that again.”
Matt shuddered, quickly falling silent.
The whispers among the crowd resumed.
“Is this Lindsey Riley? I thought Sheila was already a beauty, but turns out Lindsey is even more beautiful”
“Yeah I need to have a word with Mr. Riley. My silly son really should be seuling down”
Everyone’s eyes were on Lindsey, filled with admiration. Sheila clenched the speech in her hand, furious. She was supposed to be the star of the day, but the moment Lindsey appeared, all attention was diverted to her.
Olivia, quick to react, rushed over with a concerned expression “Lindsey, you’re up? Even if you’re running late, at least change out of those slippers before coming downstairs.”
“Normally, it’s nothing. But today’s important. Don’t let others see you like this, it’ll make a mockery of you” As she spoke, Olivia tried to push Lindsey back upstairs.
Lindsey, well aware of Olivia’s intentions, understood she was criticizing her for being lazy and sloppy Olivia probably wanted her to go back to her room and never show up again.
With a dismissive wave of her hand, Lindsey brushed off Olivia’s grip, not even furrowing her brows. “Ms. Jennings, today is Sheila’s big day, so of course I’m here to witness it.”
Olivia couldn’t convince her otherwise and was left standing awkwardly as someone nearby commented, Lindsey looks gorgeous no matter how she presents herself. It’s true what they uy–beauty gives you the freedom to be yourself.”
Lindsey turned and flashed a polite smile at the speaker. “Thank you.”
The person froze, blushing instantly and unable to say another word.
Sheila could no longer hold back. She wouldn’t let Lindsey steal the spotlight at her recognition banquet,
Suppressing her anger. Sheila forced a smile and approached Lindsey, calling out awkwardly, “Lindsey”
Lindsey didn’t respond.
Anthony scolded her sharply, “Your sister’s calling you.”
“It’s fine, Dad,” Sheila said, her tone attempting to sound generous, but she deliberately let others sense the sadness in her voice. “Even if Lindsey remains silent, she has accepted me. She’s wearing my necklace.”
Anthony followed Sheila’s gaze and his expression changed immediately. He raised his voice and demanded. “This is the gift your grandpa gave Sheila How is it around your neck, Lindsey?”
Lindsey pressed her lips together, not saying a word. She was honestly baffled by Anthony’s intelligence he was being used by others without even realizing i
Claude glanced over but remained silent.
Seizing the opportunity, Sheila added fuel to the fire. “After that day, Lindsey kept asking me about what was inside the box Grandpa gave me. I couldn’t resist, so I showed her the necklace. She said she really liked it.

Chapter 10
“I liked it, too. Which girl doesn’t love diamonds But this morning, when I woke up, I couldn’t find the necklace anywhere. Well, it’s alright, as long as Lindsey likes it, she continued.
Her tone was clearly implying that Lindsey had stolen the necklace. In an instant, the crowd’s gaze toward Lindsey shifted suspiciously,
“Lindsey is beautiful on the outside but ugly on the inside. What a shame.”
“Seems like there’s a reason Lindsey isn’t well–liked. What a headache for any family with a daughter like that.”
“I was thinking of introducing her to my son, but not anymore. What if one day she cleans out our entire fortune?”
Lindsey didn’t get angry at the gossip. Instead, she calmly took off the necklace.
“Sheila, even if I like it. I wouldn’t steal your things. This necklace may look similar to yours, but it’s just made of glass,” she said.
She held the necklace up to the light. The guests in the room, all familiar with jewelry, could immediately tell the difference between glass and diamond
“Oh, it really is glass. So, was this all a false accusation?” someone said:
Anthony felt embarrassed for scolding the wrong one and wanted to salvage his dignity, so he pressed, “But Sheila says her necklace is missing, and you liked it so much. So where did it go?”
Seeing that Anthony was sull suspicious of her stealing the necklace, Lindsey smiled bitterly. The crowd’s eyes turned toward her with doubt
Lindsey’s eyes reddened, as if she had been deeply wronged. “I don’t know. Sheila’s always careless with her things. She probably just left it somewhere and forgot aboun ict
She shook her head, but there was an unmistakable sense of restraint in her demeanor.
Anthony was further enraged by her refusal to admit anything. In this villa, there were only a few people. Anthony didn’t believe that Sheila was pretending to be the victim.
“Lindsey, if you did something wrong, you need to own up to it. If you hand over the necklace now, we won’t pursue it further.” Anthony said firmly
“I didn’t! I really didn’t!” Lindsey cried out as though on the verge of tears.
Just then, a bark echoed through the room. A small Corgi trotted through the crowd into the hall.
The dog’s collar caught everyone’s attention–it was wearing a blindingly shiny diamond necklace. Upon closer inspection, it looked strikingly similar to the necklace Lindsey had just been wearing
Sheila’s eyes widened in shock. “Snowy? How did you get here?”
The Corgi, hearing Sheila’s voice, eagerly ran to her feet, wagging its tail and looking up at her, as if begging to be picked up.
Lindsey covered her mouth in disbelief, pointing at the dog. “That’s the necklace Grandpa give Sheila, isn’t it?”
She seemed unable to process what was happening, muttering. “Why would Grandpa’s gift to Shella be on her dog?”
Snowy wagged its tail happily, trying to climb up Sheila’s legs, but Sheila looked as it like it was something dangerous. She nearly kicked it away in frustration
“Go away,” Sheila muttered, trying to push the dog aside, while shaking her head in denial. “No, I don’t know how this happened?
“But Snowy is your pet, and it has only been close to you. No one else can touch it,” Lindsey said with a playful smile, her voice dripping with feigned innocence.
