Chapter 13
Hearing Sheila’s shout, everyone froze in their actions.
“Lindsey, all of this is because of you,” Sheila said.
Lindsey looked puzzled, unsure if Sheila had found out about her text messages.
Sheila ran over, clutching her phone. “Dad, Mom, look at this. It’s a test I received earlier. I came here with good intentions, thinking that if the video leaked after what Lindsey did, our family would be utterly humiliated.”
Anthony frowned at Lindsey, then glanced at Shawn standing beside her. He felt a surge of anger.
It seemed like everything had gone wrong since Shawn’s arrival. This male Anthony view Shawn as a jinx.
“Lindsey, apologize to Sheila right now,” Anthony bellowed.
Lindsey stood quietly.
“I said apologize to Sheila. Did you hear me?” Anthony raised his voice.
Lindsey give him a cold look. “No. Why should I apologize?“.
As soon as she finished speaking. Shawn stepped in front of her. “Mr. Riley, you’re being quite unreasonable.”
Shawn exuded an intimidating aura. His innate sense of dominance even made Anthony feel a bit flustered for a moment. But Anthony quickly regained his composure. He thought Shawn was just a sneaky brat, merely bluffing
Anthony glared. “Shut up. Lindsey is so unprincipled, getting involved with you before manage, and now she’s even dragged her sister into this mess. Don’t I have the right to teach her a lesson? And you, you’re no good either. Get out of here now.”
Shawn’s expression turned cold. His gaze casually swept over Olivia. “I wonder what Ms. Jennings would think of that, Mr. Riley. Don’t be so hypocritical”
You think people like you can tell me how to do things!” Anthony said indignantly, striding over and trying to push Shawn aside. However, Sluwn stood firm, not budging an inch.
Anthony felt a bit embarrassed and pusled Shawn again with more force. Shawn still didi’t move,
Matt Laughed out loud, rather impolitely
Anthony awkwardly wiped his nose, still trying to maimain the demeanor of an authoritative father. “People like you should work your way up step by step, not look for shortcuts. We will never be your stepping stones.
“Lindsey may be foolish, but we’re not. You want to marry her? In your «dreams?”
Shawn pondered for a moment, narrowing his eyes slightly as he asked, “People like me? Mr. Riley, may I ask what kind of person you think Lam?“
Anthony was taken aback, not expecting Shawn to lack any
self–awareness
So, without any mercy, he said, “You’re nothing but a sneaky jobless, good–for–nothing scoundrel
The more Matt heard, the more alarmed he became. No one had ever dared to speak of Shawn in such a way. He thought to himself, ‘Does this man not want to live in Jovencia anymore?”
Although Lindsey didn’t particularly like Anthony, she couldn’t just stand by and watch han go further and further down a self–destructive path. So she quickly stepped in to mediate. “Dad, you’ve got the wrong idea about him. He’s very accomplished”
“Accomplished Lindsey, are you blind! Are you trying to give me a hean attack Man said angrily.
Lindsey was speechless. She gave up trying to explain to Anthony,
Shawn’s expression turned even colder. Lindsey knew things were getting bad and quickly grabbed Shawn’s hand. “Let’s go. My dad’s not thinking straight.”
In fact, Lindsey thought Anthony might never have been thinking straight.
Lindsey pulled Shawn ourside. By the time they got to the car, her palm was covered in a thin layer of sweat.

Chapter 13
Matt patted his chest as he followed, silently giving Lindsey an admiring look.
“Lindsey, your family is quite something. Malt even thought that Anthony’s safety was due to sheer luck
Lindsey waved her hand. Don’t even mention it. Every day when
en I come home, I’m disgusted by the hypocrites in this house”
“Do they often bully you?” Shawn suddenly asked.
Lindsey thought for a moment. “Sort of”
“Poor you,” Mari sighed.
Lindsey lowered her head and didn’t speak, Shawn noticed and thought she was bullied but too afraid to tell anyone the
“Why don’t you move out? I have plenty of houses. They’re just sitting empty,” Shawn suggested.
Lindsey suddenly looked up and refused. “Thank you, but no. The villa was left to me by my mom. I want to keep what she left me and kick out the people who don’t belong Lindsey said, with an undercurrent in her eyes
In the past, because of her weakness and naivety, Olivia and Sheila had shamelessly lived in her villa for many years. Lindsey felt it was time to kick
them out
Shawn nodded, respecting her opinion. “If you need any help, just ask.”
“By die w

way, I have a favor to ask of you. Would you go to the Ludwig manor and meet my father with me! I’ll stop my family pressuring me to get married,” Shawn said, choosing his words carefully.
The sooner he could resolve the marriage pressure, the sooner Shawn could have some peace.
Lindsey was a bit surprised and scared. “You want me to meet Mr. Dennis Ludwig)”
According to rumors, Dennis controlled the economic lifelines of the entire country. Lindsey could imagine his imposing presence. She quickly
shook her head
“We’re not really boyfriend and girlfriend. I’m afraid I’ll get nervous and give us away” Lindsey said. She wasn’t being falsely modest, she was genuinely afraid
Hearing what Lindsey said, Matt was surprised. But Shawn’s care for Lindsey didn’t seem fake at all. Matt shook his head, confused about the relationship between the two.
Shawn was insistent. “There’s no need to be nervous. Just chat with him. I’ll be with you the whole time.”
“But chatting is even more terrifying” Lindsey was still hesitating, feeling that one wrong word could ruin everything
However, thinking about all the help Shawn had given her, Lindsey reluctantly agreed. She felt a huge challenge was about to come.
Shawn looked Lindsey up and down. Seeing that she was still wearing slippers with her toes exposed and already red from the cold, he said. “Let me take you to buy a set of clothes first.”
Lindsey looked down at her feet and shyly pulled her toes further inside.
The car drove all the way to the underground parking lot of the shopping mall. Lindsey followed behind Shawn, a strange feeling gradually rising in her heart. She felt like she was Shawn’s minion.
Shawn took Lindsey to a high–end women’s clothing store. He looked around and, based on his own preferences, pointed out a few sets of clothes. “Try these on”
Before Lindsey could say anything, she was handed a big pile of clothes.
She went to the fitting room and chose a set to change into. After spinning around in front of the fitting room mirror, Lindsey was about to ask for Shawn’s opinion when she heard a shrill voice behind her. “Well, if it isn’t Lindsey”
“What brings you here? As your cousin, I must advise you to check where you are before shopping, to avoid the embarrassment of not being able to pay,” said June Jennings. She took of her sunglasses, her contemptuous gaze constantly scanning Lindsey up and down.
June was Patrick’s daughter and currently a minor celebrity in the entertainment circle. She had some fame, but wasn’t a real star, always hovering on the edge of second and third ter
