Chapter 26
Sheila glared at her resentfully. “What do you know? You, an outsider, pretending to be an expert! If people hear you, they’ll laugh themselves to
death”
Oliva chmed in as well, “Lindsey, even if you don’t like Sheila, there’s no need to say such things. She did win an award, after all”
“You shouldn’t be hanging around with this kind of man either. Find something decent to do, and your father can worry about you less,” she casually glanced at Shawn, her disdain evident.
“Mom, Lindsey is quite content with this. Why waste your breath on her? Let’s go back first,” Sheila didn’t even bother to pretend anymore.
Since Anthony wasn’t here, she saw no need to pretend to care about Lindsey. Lindsey’s self–indulgence was a good thing for her.
After the two left, Shawn turned his
his head to look at Lindsey. “You just let them bully you like that?”
Lindsey thought for a moment, then countered. “Mr. Ludwig, don’t you also just let them misunderstand you?”
They exchanged a glance and both laughed.
Lindsey seemed to suddenly remember something and suggested, “I mentioned taking you out for a meal last time. How about today?”
Shawn hesitated for a moment, but still replied, “Sure
“What’s the matter? Do you have other plans? It’s okay, we can reschedule for another day” Lindsey noticed his hesitation.
“It’s fine. Let’s do it today.” Shawn said.
Lindsey chose a restaurant
taurant and handed the menu to Shawn. I remember you said you came to see if there were any designers you liked. Did you find any?*
quite interested in him”
Shawn nodded frankly. “Yes. It’s that anonymous participant. I’m quite
Lindsey paused. She pressed down the comers of her mouth that were slightly curving up. “I also really like her designs; it seems we have the same
She poured coffee into Shawn’s cup and poured herself a cup as well. She sipped her coffee, her gaze unconsciously falling on Shawn.
“What do you think this L would be like?” she asked Shawn.
Shawn looked up at her. “I won’t comment without knowing the full picture.”
Suddenly, he frowned. “You seem quite concerned about this L. Are you jealous?”
Lindsey almost spat out the coffer in her mouth, not understanding how Shawn could come to such a conclusion. I. was herself. Of course, she couldn’t be jealous of herself.
“I’m not at all. I’m just asking our of appreciation. You’re such a narcissist.” With that, Lindsey lowered her head and nibbled on the edge of the cup. the coffee just wetting her lips.
Shawn raised his eyebrows at her, a smile of indeterminate meaning on his face. “Then why were you stealing glances at me just now?”
Lindsey’s face turned red in an instant. She didn’t expect that her sneaking glances at Shawn would be noticed by him. This made her very embarrassed
She composed herself and began to argue. “There are only the two of us in this private room. If I’m not looking at you, should I be looking at my phone!”
Shawn chuckled, “You can look at
at me openly. I don’t mind”
Lindsey was at a loss for words for a moment. She waved her land. “Forget it. You’re too good–looking. I’m afraid I’ll get stuck.”
Shawn was indeed very handsome. He had all the warmth one could expect, and just the right amount of sharpness. When gentle, he was the epitome of a gentleman, when serious, he had a devilish charm.
Especially his eyes, deep and affectionate. One more look seemed as if it would draw a person in Lindsey half–jokingly told him she was afraid she would actually fall for him.

Chapter 26
Shawn, however, chuckled softly. “It’s okay to fall for me. You could make me permanent.”
“What?” Lindsey didn’t catch his meaning at first,
“We could be a real couple. I don’t mind taking responsibility for you.” He kept his gaze fixed on Lindsey, so focused it was as if his eyes could only hold her.
Lindsey’s face flushed again. She averted her eyes nervously. “No, I’m not ready for that yet.”
Shawn looked a bit disappointed. The atmosphere in the private room was awkward to the extreme,
Fortunately, at this moment, Shawn’s assistant knocked and entered. Shawn whispered to him for a few moments, seemingly discussing work
“Sorry, I need to take this call,” Shawn said
Lindsey nodded. “Go ahead”
He didn’t shy away from Lindsey and dialed the number right there in the private room. Then Lindsey’s phone rang.
They looked at each other in surprise. Lindsey saw the caller ID displayed The Bastard Who Slept with Me” and felt incredibly embarrassed,
For some inexplicable reason, she answered the call. “Well, what a coincidence”
Shawn looked at her and suddenly chuckled softly “So, can you explain what’s going on here? I was clearly calling Designer L
“You might not believe this, but I am Designer L, Lindsey answered blankly, holding the phone to her ear. She laughed awkwardly, trying to cover up the embarrassing atmosphere.
Shawn
nent, then said meaningfully. “It seems I’ve found a treasure?”
nput down his phone and looked at Lindsey carefully for a moment, then
Lindsey lowered her head, pursed her lips, and her cheeks turned slightly red. “You flatter me.”
“No need for modesty. But I really didn’t expect you to be Designer I. It’s quite a surprise,” Shawn smiled, his gaze intense
Lindsey returned his smile.
“As I’ve said before, I’m looking to recruit outstanding designers to my company. I wonder if you’re interested?” Shawn asked.
Lindsey thought for a moment and shook her head. Although the Ludwig Group was a company many people aspired to join, she had other plans.
Shawn didn’t get annoyed, nor did he ask for reasons. He just said regretfully. “That’s too bad. But if you change your mind, you can always come to
Lindsey’s heart stirred a little. In fact, ever since she met Shawn, he had always been very tolerant of her. Lindsey even suspected that the rumors about Shawn circulating outside were spread by his competitors
Shawn took a deep look at Lindsey and seemingly casually remarked, “Tm quite curious, what kind of man could win your favor?”
He recalled what Olivia and Sheila had said at the exhibition hall entrance and felt a bit uncomfortable inside. Lindsey noticed his strange look and feli an anxiety she herself hadn’t realized.
She blurted out, “Shawn, actually, you’re just fine. It’s just that I don’t plan to be in a relationship now,
“I signed an performer yesterday, and when I was signing the contract back at the hotel, Olivia and Sheila happened to see it and got the wrong
As soon as Lindsey finished speaking, she regretted it. She didn’t know why she felt the need to explain her personal matters to Shawn.
She thought someone of Shawn’s stature probably wouldn’t care about her trivial matters. By explaining, she might have given him the impression that she had ulterior motives towards him.
While
Lindsey was feeling regretful, she suddenly heard Shawn ask, “You signed an performer? Are you planning to start your own company?”
As far as he knew, although Lindsey had a company named Laminova under her name, she didn’t have actual control. She couldn’t get involved in the company’s affairs at all.
