Chapter 28
After venting her frustrations, Sheila collapsed onto the floor, her piercing gaze fixed on the photo of Lindsey as if she could bore two holes right through the screen.
“Ha! Second place! What a joke!” she scoffed, laughter spilling from her lips tinged with bitterness.
No wonder… No wonder she found that design skrich in the yard, no wonder she ran into Lindsey at the competition–everything was clearly orchestrated by that woman.
Lindsey had deliberately let her find the sketch, all to throw doubt on her in front of everyone at the contest. And to top it off, Lindsey even showed up to witness her embarrassment. It was absolutely infuriating!
With gritted teeth, Sheila grabbed her phone and called Jayden, asking to meet him that afternoon. Despite the storm of hate swirling inside her, she took the time to get dolled up before heading out.
In the café, Jayden’s demeanor was aloof. “So, what’s the reason you dragged me out here?”
Sheila stirred her coffee absentmindedly. Noticing his impatience flared up her irritation. “You treat me like this, but what if it was Lindsey asking you out?
“Don’t even mention her!” Jayden snapped, an edge of annoyance filling his voice.
He was still holding onto a grudge after Lindsey spent the night with another guy and rejected his proposal in front of everyone.
Sheila felt a flicker of satisfaction at his reaction. Smirking, she leaned closer and said. “I know exactly what your intentions are with Lindsey, and guess what? I can help you”
Her words were laced with temptation, prompting Jayden to raise an eyebrow and look h
her way, “What’s your price?”
“No price at all really. I just admire you and want to help,” she said, softly laying her hand over his. She flashed him a flirtatious smile.
Jayden hesitated for a moment, then broke into a low laugh, not pulling his hand away.
Meanwhile, at Nordopolis Airport, a sharply dressed middle–aged man quietly boarded a plane, his gaze set on a photo in his hand. His eyes were fixated on the feather–shaped necklace around a young girl’s neck. It had been a long time since he’d seen it
Three hours later, Jovencia Airport
“Whoa, watch our Lindsey exclaimed, quickly stepping in to support Claire, who almost got knocked over
“Sorry, sorry!” the clumsy man apologized repeatedly as he adjusted his glasses. He intended to brush past them, but suddenly, he noticed the necklace around Lindsey’s neck. His pupils dilated, and be froze in place.
“Sir? Are you alright?” Lindsey asked, righting Claire and glancing at the clearly distressed man.
The man snapped back to reality, hesitating before he asked, “Can I ask where you got that necklace, miss It’s lovely. I’d like to buy one for my daughter.”
He wore an earnest expression, but Lindsey felt a twinge of caution. She replied coolly, “It was passed down from a family elder
The man seemed to become even more animated. “May I ask what your relationship is with that ekler!”
Given how much Dennis treasured that necklace, Lindsey knew it was anything but ordinary. Warily, she studied the middle–aged man, remaining
silent
Realizing he might have overstepped, he cleared his throat. “I apologize if I’ve offended you, miss.”
Lindsey nodded and took Claire to the luggage pick–up area. Henry had already gone ahead, so they were headed to meet him.
“Hey, Lindsey, that guy you were just talking to was really weird. He seemed super interested in your necklace. Do you think he’s a bad guy?” Claire said, worry creeping into her voice.
Lindsey shook her head. “I don’t think so. But I’m not sure either.
In the car, Lindsey messaged Florence to ask for the address of the new company. When the address came through, she felt a strange sense of deja vu. She opened up the map and couldn’t help but roll her eyes. The new company was right next to the Ludwig Group,

At that moment, Lindsey felt a bit relieved. Thankfully, the whole building next to her company belonged to Ludwig Croup; otherwise, she might’ve had to share an office with Shawn.
After dropping off Henry and Claire at Elaindsey Productions, Lindsey quickly briefed Florence. “Claire needs to see a doctor ASAP. You can take them this afternoon. Also, help them find a place to rent. 111 handle things on my end.”
The moment Florence saw Henry, she was taken aback. Forget about anything else, his looks screamed star material.
But she also thought that Lindsey was being a bit overprotective of the siblings. Seeing a doctor and finding a place? She was their boss, not their babysiner!
Florence pulled Lindsey aside and whispered. “Lindsey, we run an entertainment company, not a charity. Even if you’re rich, you can’t treat them
like this!”
Lindsey just smiled, reassuring her, “Don’t worry. Ms. Calloway. Henry is worth it.”
Florence had no idea how famous Henry was about to become!
Not wanting to argue further, Florence pulled out a list and pointed to one name. “Lindsey, this Quinn she’s the one I think she is, right? Isn’t she a scandalous artiu?”
Quinn used to be a top star in the industry–a hot property with a chance to reach mega–stardom. Unfortunately, during her peak, she was exposed for being the other woman in someone else’s marriage, which nosedived her career.
She lost all her resources and was gradually pushed to the sidelines, almost getting shelved completely. The company’s contract with her had ended recently, and they chose not to renew it..
Florence couldn’t understand why Lindsey would even consider signing someone like her. Did she think Quinn had a chance to bounce back!
Lindsey glanced at the list. The other names had all been checked off, and only Quinn’s was left. Henry’s was freshly written and not yet dried.
“Is she the only one left? Leave it to me Lindsey said confidently as if she hadn’t heard Florence’s concerns
“Lindsey, the company has just started, and we can’t afford any mistakes, Florence tried to reason with her again.
Lindsey just smiled back. “Ms. Calloway, sometimes we don’t know the full story. What we see is just what some people want us to see.”
Florence shook her head, still unconvinced by Lindsey’s words.
As Lindsey walked Henry and Claire out, her phone rang. It was Anthony.
“Lindsey. I don’t care where you are right now. In one hour, you need to be at the regular suite in Fragrance Restaurant, Otherwise, don’t bother coming back!” His tone was harsh, and his words were anything but pleasant
Lindsey was about to snap back, but Anthony was already done with the conversation, hanging up without waiting for her response.
She couldn’t help but wonder why Anthony had chosen to meet at such a fancy place when he couldn’t even afford to pay for deleting the trending topic
When Lindsey arrived, she found not just Anthony there, but also Olivia, Sheila, and a man in a suit who looked to be in his mid–thirties.
As soon as she entered the room, that guy scrutinized her with a look that felt uncomfortable–like he was inspecting some merchandise. Lindsey felt a wave of annoyance wash over her.
