Chapter 208
[Seriously, why is Bianca always tangled up in drama? Every time we hear about her, it’s either her being slapped in the face by Elaine or heading straight for public humiliation. This top–tier celebrity really can’t catch a liteak.]
[For someone who takes so much from others, this is the ultimate karma.]
[Wow, Bianca actually tried to get close to Harper! Does she even know what she’s doing? The only person who could get him to tweet something so nice must be Elaine.]
[I’m dying to know what Bianca is thinking now, seeing the trending toples and Twitter storm
As for the smaller investors who saw the Twitter post and the trending stories, they were just now realizing they’d been duped by the sly Jepson.
They thought. Who could sink so low as to deceive us like this?
One of the investors, David, was fuming. He immediately dialed Jepson’s number.
Jepson was still pacing back and forth, his mind racing over Harper’s situation. The company’s funds were far from enough to finance Dragon Lock. A handful of smaller investors had jumped on board after Harper, but even with their help, it wasn’t nearly enough.
When he saw David’s name on the screen, he assumed it was just another call to beg for a partnership.
He had always kept his distance and acted high and mighty around David, but this time, David wasn’t having any of it
“Mr. Yeats, are you seriously kidding me right now! Why didn’t you tell us Harper pulled out of the project sooner? Sure, we might be small fish compared to Galaxy Entertainment, but that doesn’t mean we’re fools. Our money isn’t some magic gift. I’ve had enough–I’m pulling my investment and I’m out.”
Jepson froze. The idea of David pulling out hadn’t even crossed his mind.
He had no idea who had spilled the beans about Harper hacking out, but he quickly recovered and fired back, “David, where the hell did you hear that? Don’t tell me you’re buying into some nonsense online. If you’re not serious about working with us at Galaxy Entertainment, then it’s over. We don’t need people like you.”
Jepson was about to hang up, convinced David would panic and beg for a second chance.
But David didn’t flinch. Instead, he laughed–one of those dry, mocking laughs that sent a chill down Jepson’s spine. “Oh, Jepson, you still playing the same game!
“You’re good at this, I’ll give you that. You guys have done this before, remember? If it wasn’t for Radiant Media and Harper announcing their partnership on Twitter, I’d still be in the dark.”
