Chapter 210
Janet, meanwhile, was enjoying the situation with quiet satisfaction, watching the man she’d been keeping company with stay at her house every
night.
She was pleased by how Tracy’s decision to abandon Elaine in favor of Bianca had led to Elaine distancing herself from Tracy Janet couldn’t help but smile at how everything was falling into place.
Elaine, though young, was
was more perceptive than most.
If only Tracy hadn’t forsaken her own flesh and blood, maybe she wouldn’t have been so vulnerable to Robert’s charm. But Elaine, with both physical and emotional skill, had successfully trapped him.
And Tracy, poor thing, was too clueless to see what was happening. Her lack of sharpness had created the perfect opening for Janet to step in.
Bianca was a natural, inheriting her mother’s sharp mind and deep sensitivity. In fact, she was already plotting with her biological mother to take control of the Yeats family.
It wouldn’t be long before the right moment arrived, and Tracy, that foolish woman, would no longer be needed.
Janet could already picture the day she’d finally confront Tracy, gleefully telling her how ridiculous it had been for her to choose another woman’s daughter over her own.
The thought of seeing Tracy’s face twist with pain and regret filled Janet with an intoxicating sense of superiority.
After a passionate night together, Janet snuggled into Robert’s arms, her voice soft and tender. Robert, is something wrong with the Yeats family! You seem so stressed out lately. Is there anything I can do to help
Robert’s brow furrowed. “Elaine’s been attacking Bianca and the entire Yeats family, throwing everything into chaos. I’ve been holding all this frustration inside, but I don’t know who to vent to. She’s completely lost it, and anyone who crosses her path gets crushed. No one dares to stand up to her.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the Yeats family ends up falling to second–tier status, all because of her,” he muttered, his face darkening with rage.
What Robert didn’t realize was that, to Elaine, the ultimate punishment for the Yeats family was their eventual downfall.
o fix things—after all, she was just a woman with no real power, relying on him for s support like a delicate vine clinging
Robert didn’t expect Janet to
to a strong tree.
But she did provide him with an emotional release, and that was enough for now. During the time he’d spent with Janet, he had found a sense of relief he hadn’t realized he needed.
Janet’s voice was soothing as she continued, “I think part of the reason Elaine has become this way is because of Tracy. If Tracy had handled the situation better, maybe Elaine wouldn’t have turned against the Yeats family:”
Janet wasn’t really trying to defend Elaine, of course. She just wanted to plant the seed of dissatisfaction in Robert’s mind about Tracy.
Sure enough, Robert’s frown deepened even more.
He knew exactly why Elaine hated the Yeats family. Tracy could’ve chosen to ignore Elaine, but instead, she had made her own daughter an enemy of the family.
“Enough” Robert snapped. “Let’s not talk about that wretched woman.”
With that, he pulled Janet back into his arms, and for a moment, they lost themselves in each other’s embrace.
From Robert’s point of view, he didn’t see the flicker of triumph that flashed in Janet’s eyes.
