Chapter 242
Chapter 242
Elaine, ever the instigator, couldn’t resist fanning the flames. “Yeah, exactly! All I did was speak a few truths, and you’re already falling apart. Shirley doesn’t even like him anymore, so no matter how much you flaunt your ‘love‘ in front of her, she’ll just see you both as a couple of clowns.
“A home–wrecker’s a home–wrecker, no matter how much you try to look all prim and pure.
“You can wear the guise of an innocent angel, but underneath, you’re still just the same lowlife who destroyed a home. Don’t try to fool us. If we really got upset, we’d peel your skin off.”
Elaine gave a mock innocent blink, the kind that dripped with an almost sickly sweet malice. “Then, let’s see how you keep up that perfect angel act when the truth comes out. You’ll be the laughingstock, and you’ll wish you never tried to play that game.”
Melany’s face went pale, her expression frozen. “You… you dare?”
She hadn’t expected Elaine to be so bold. She had never met a woman like this–one who wasn’t afraid to throw down and didn’t care about crossing lines.
Elaine smirked, then gave her a playful wink. “Why wouldn’t I dare? Sure, legally speaking, beating up a home–wrecker and scumbag is a no–go, but let’s be real–if this ever got out, people would be on my side, not yours. As for the police…”
Elaine’s smile carried a hint of something darker.
With her connections to both the Morgan family and the Yeats family, she knew exactly how to play the game. No matter what happened, she had the power to make things go her way. Melany, suddenly realizing this, froze in fear.
Melany had always relied on her beauty to manipulate, but she never imagined it would come to this level of power play. If Elaine did follow through and publicly humiliate her, there’d be no coming back. After all, she was the notorious mistress in everyone’s eyes.
Even Dangelo, standing off to the side, felt a wave of discomfort.
He knew what it was like to be the product of an affair. His mother had never been given any official status, and as a result, he had been branded a bastard from birth, subject to ridicule.
Now, as he tried to carve out a life for himself with the woman he loved, he needed to ensure that he had the wealth and status to back it up. Elaine, in her own world, had no idea what it meant to fight for inheritance as an outsider.
Harvey, red–faced and furious, tried to salvage his pride, barking at Shirley, “Shirley, you’re going too far.
Elaine couldn’t hide the contempt on her face. Her disgust for Harvey had reached a boiling point. “Harvey, stop making such a scene. You’re so desperate for everyone to know how useless you are. All you do is shout and make a fool of yourself. You’re a man, for heaven’s sake–doesn’t it embarrass you?”
Her tone was laced with scorn, and Harvey couldn’t help but feel as if she was deliberately trying to make him lose his
temper
Shirley gave a small nod. “Exactly
Together, Elaine and Shirley had reduced the two of them to nothing more than the objects of ridicule.
Harvey, his anger still simmering, suddenly remembered something. His thoughts flashed to Kingsley, who had recently gotten engaged—and to his fance, who was standing right before him.
Harvey’s face darkened as he confronted Elaine. “You’re Kingsley’s fiancee, right? Look at you. I’m your future father–in–law, and this is how you treat your elders? You’re supposed to get along with us, but look at you now–attitude like that, talking
down to us.

“Do you know who I am? I’m the only son of the Morgan family, the heir to the Morgan fortune. Once I divorce Shu Melany will step into her place, and she’ll enter the Morgan family with all the pomp and circumstance
Melany, standing nearby, spoke up softly, “Let it go. She’s just a kid, she’ll learn in time. I don’t blame her.”
Elaine grinned wider, clearly enjoying herself. “I told you to stop pretending to be all high and mighty in front of us. But you didn’t listen, did you?”
Melany’s expression faltered for a moment as she heard Elaine insult her so openly.
Elaine continued, her tone dripping with malice, “Harvey, you are the only son of Benjamin and Grace, sure. But you left them for twenty years because of your love–and do you really think they’ll take you back now? They’re completely disappointed in you. They’re probably just waiting for you to realize it.
“You think they’ll ever let you back into the Morgan family? You called your grandfather this morning, and he rejected the three of you outright. The Morgan family’s message couldn’t be clearer, don’t you think?”
Melany’s world tilted. She hadn’t expected Benjamin to be the one to close the door on them. The old man–after everything she’d done, after giving him grandchildren–still looked down on her.
Harvey gritted his teeth. “They’re just temporarily angry. I believe, one day, they’ll accept me back.”
Elaine’s tone became even more unforgiving. “You’re fooling yourself. Crandpa said this morning that he doesn’t even consider you his son anymore. And why would he? You’ve already given the Morgan family two grandsons, Kingsley and Abbot. Your job is done.
“You’ve served your purpose, and now they don’t need you anymore. Have you ever wondered why, after all these years, Benjamin and Grace never even bothered to reach out to you?”
Harvey stood there, speechless.
It felt as though his entire existence had been reduced to that of a breeding machine–used by the Morgan family to produce heirs and then discarded once the task was complete.
The weight of Elaine’s words hung in the air, and for a moment, it felt like time had stopped. Even Melany looked like she might collapse from the weight of the revelation.
Shirley, seeing the shift in Harvey’s once–proud demeanor, couldn’t help but give Elaine a silent thumbs–up. When it came to cutting someone down, Elaine was a master.
With a quiet chuckle, Shirley grabbed Elaine’s hand. “Let’s go, darling. There’s no point in wasting time with these losers. Let’s get our beauty treatments done.”
Elaine, sensing Melany’s fury, added one last sting, “We’ll leave you two to your love‘ fest. But let’s be real–you only enjoy the thrill of stealing someone else’s man, don’t you? I bet you felt so good when Shirley couldn’t beat you, right?
“But now? No one’s even trying to fight you for him anymore. Enjoy the garbage you’ve fought for. It’s all yours now.”
Melany’s face was ashen, and her fury bubbled up, but she had no way to retaliate.
With her eyes red from unshed tears, she turned to Harvey. “Darling…
Harvey wrapped his arm around her and led her toward the elevator. His mind was a whirlwind of emotions–guilt, anger, regret, and confusion,
“Sweetheart, I know you’re hurting. These years haven’t been easy on you.”
Melany, with no interest in titles or money, had willingly followed him all this time, no questions asked.

She cooed softly. “As long as I’m with you, nothing else matters.”
Elaine, holding a stick in her hand, listened to the exchange with disgust, her stomach churning at the sweetness of their words. This couple of snakes had no idea what was coming for them.
Tonight, they would not escape unscathed.
