Chapter 279
Chapter 279
Tracy could barely contain her outrage after hearing Bianca’s words.
It was absurd, laughable. After everything she had done for Bianca, everything she had sacrificed, it all boiled down to manipulation in Bianca’s eyes. Not only had Bianca reduced her gestures of care to mere ‘self–serving arts, but now she was even blaming Tracy for offering it in the first place.
“You’re just like your mother–hypocritical, selfish, and malicious, Tracy sneered. “You take and take, without a shred of gratitude, and then turn around and accuse others of being wrong”
Her smile was twisted, shallow as if mocking the entire situation.
“For you, I abandoned my own flesh and blood. I was deceived to this point, but you and your mother, and Robert three are born to be a family. Even if you’re not Robert’s biological daughter, the three of you are a perfect match. I sincerely wish you all the happiness you deserve. A happy, united family,” Tracy added bitterly.

Janet, who had been quietly watching the disintegration of the bond between mother and daughter, was elated. She paid no attention to Tracy’s odd expression, mistaking it for just the aftershocks of emotional turmoil.
“Tracy,” Janet said smugly, “I must thank you for raising my daughter so well. Now, your part in this is done. It’s time for me to take over and care for Bianca and Robert. You’ve done your part in nurturing her, but from here on out, I’ll take over. As for your sons, they’re the true heirs of the Yeats family. They’ll stay and carry on the family name.”
Janet’s smug tone made no attempt to hide her sense of triumph.
But Tracy’s smile grew ever more unnerving.
“Janet,” she said with feigned admiration, “you really are a master at scheming. I must give credit where it’s due.”
Her voice softened, growing almost melancholic. “The only thing I regret is my daughter Elaine, the one I carried for ten months, but I know there’s no turning back now. I will never dare to approach her again, and she will never forgive me.”
Tears of regret filled Tracy’s eyes as she finally acknowledged the depth of her mistakes. Her mind felt consumed with anguish–an anguish far worse than her hate for Bianca, Janet, and Robert.
This torment was the result of a lifetime of wrong choices. She had been blind, stumbling from one mistake to the next.
She had foolishly believed in Bianca, had fallen into their web and didn’t even realize how badly she had been played.
And now, the consequences were her own to bear.
But she wasn’t about to let Bianca, Janet, and Robert off so easily. If she had to suffer, so would they. The rest of their lives would be spent tormenting one another. Tracy swore that she would never forgive them, no matter where they went.
Just as Janet reveled in her perceived victory, Tucker and his family showed up.
“Janet, how dare you come to our house?” Tucker’s voice was filled with suppressed rage.
This home–wrecker dared to flaunt herself at the Yeats family?
Janet simply smirked, “Why shouldn’t I be here? Let me tell you, I’m your father’s woman. He’s agreed to divorce Tracy and marry me. From now on, I’ll be your stepmother. You’d better show me some respect. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude.”
“Rude?” Tucker smiled, but there was nothing but scorn in his expression. “You really think Robert is the one in charge here?
In this house?”

Janet froze. “What do you mean?”

Shawn, standing beside him, added, “Robert has been embezzling money from the company and gambling it away overseas. He’s been arrested. The police have already taken him in for questioning.”
“What?” Janet’s eyes widened, the shock clearly written across her face.
Shawn continued, “Curious how we found out? Well, I gathered the evidence myself… and reported it.”
Janet was speechless. The ground seemed to shift beneath her.
“You’re a monster, Shawn,” she spat. “How could you betray your own father?”
Shawn coldly chuckled. “I’m a monster, and I was born from Robert. Don’t forget that.”
Janet’s face twisted with frustration. How had everything gone so wrong? Just when she thought victory was within her grasp, everything fell apart in the last moments.
And yet, the worst was still to come.
Police arrived, and with them, the most crushing blow of all: Janet was arrested for child trafficking, based on the crime of having taken Elaine to Huaxi Village years ago.
Bianca stood frozen, still processing the fact that her real mother had just been taken away by the police.
“Janet, no!” She cried. “I didn’t–this is all a mistake!”
“You’re telling me it’s a mistake?” The officer asked, coldly. “You didn’t take Elaine to Huaxi? You didn’t commit the crime of child trafficking? We have all the evidence, Janet. You’re going to be prosecuted.”
Janet’s legs buckled, and she collapsed to the floor. She couldn’t go to prison; it would ruin her life forever.
Desperate, she tried to fight, but it was no use. The police calmly placed the handcuffs on her, and she was led away, kicking and screaming.
Left behind in the chaos was Bianca, standing alone and disoriented.
Tracy, her expression unreadable, watched as Janet was taken away, her smile growing colder, more calculating.
With a soft chuckle, she turned to Bianca. “What are you doing standing here, my dear? The criminal has been taken away. Don’t let this unsightly scene trouble you. Come, let’s go to your room.”
Bianca’s skin crawled at the look on Tracy’s face. It was too much. She could barely breathe.
“Mom…” Bianca said, her voice trembling. “I… I was misled by Janet. I don’t know what came over me, but I… I regret it so much. You’re the only real mother I have. Please, forgive me.”
Tracy’s smile never wavered. She merely chuckled softly. “Of course, I won’t blame you. Now, let’s go to your room.”
But the way Tracy smiled, her eyes gleaming with something dark, sent a chill through Bianca’s spine.
She felt trapped, cornered, with no way out.
She had lost everything–her identity, her life, and now, her own sense of self.
She didn’t understand. She had carefully planned every step of her life, and yet it was like every move she made was one inch too far from her goal, and now she had fallen into an abyss.
The resentment toward Elaine only grew deeper, a bitter thought forming in her mind. Maybe, just maybe, if she had stuck

with her old, submissive life, none of this would have happened.
The thought came out of nowhere, shocking Bianca herself. But there it was, as clear as day.
And then that night, she had a dream–one that transported her to a past life, where everything had been so different. She realized that her life was a twisted version of a novel, where Elaine was still the hated character, and she was the adored, beloved figure. But fate had turned against her. She had been designed to die in a car crash at the hands of a villain from the
story.
Bianca woke with a start, gasping for breath. But what shocked her most was the sensation of someone’s hand tight around her throat. Tracy’s grip. Tracy was choking her. Bianca struggled for air, unable to breathe, her world going dark.
