Chapter 17
Back in the day, Daisy and Harlan were introduced to each other by Bianca, a case of making sure good opportunities didn’t go to outsiders
Whale Harlan was busy performing surgery, Daisy waited for her fiancé to finish work at the hospital and just so happened to spot Elaine there,
“Bianca, guess who I saw at the hospital just now? Yes, Elaine! I saw her with a man, no mistake about it!
“Hmph, I bet the guy with her is blind to even take a liking to someone like her, that notorious rotten egg. Ugh, she’s not even worthy of comparing to a tiny bit of you“”
“If he knew how Elaine used to bully you. he’d steer clear of her like she’s poison” Daisy was fuming on the phone, lashing out sharply in defense of
Bianca.
As Bianca’s closest pal and future sister–in–law, Daisy was naturally on Bianca’s side, seeing Elaine as a thorn in her eye.
Even Elaine’s parents and her seven accomplished brothers dislike her, instead favoring Bianca, the undeniable golden girl. Of course, Daisy bent over backward to curry favor with Bianca for her own gain
As for someone like Elaine–a malicious, country–raised good–for–nothing–she’s totally beneath Daisy’s notice.
Daisy sneered “Probably just some ugly old man with a bit of cash. Elaine seould stoop that low, must be horry enough. Yeah, now that even Finley doesn’t want her, her dreams of being a rich madame are shattered. Guess she can only settle for scraps now.
“Alright, don’t talk about her like that” Bianca made no further comment on Daisy’s words. After hanging up, a cryptic smile crept onto her lips.
She suddenly became curious about the man Elaine was with.
Elaine sure surprised her–still managing to snag a guy.
She wondered how powerful and prestigious that guy was. If his background was strong enough, she might have underestimated Elaine after all.
All those labels people slapped on her–kind–hearted, angelic–were all fake and just masks she wore to land guys and rake in love and resources.
But it did work! Her parents and brothers all adored her, believing only her. It’s not my fault that Elaine is so useless, the smirked inwardly.
Meanwhile, on the way
back to Floren Village, Elaine and Kingsley barely spoke.
Maybe it was due to the matchmaking today, but the tacit agreement of their engagement had shifted them from strangers to almost–fiancés, a transition they hadn’t quite adjusted to yet.
With her head down, the pale skin on Elaine’s neck glowed, making her look even more appealing.
Steering wheel in hand, Kingsley pulled up at the village entrance and glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, catching a glimpse of her slender neck her skin so smooth it seemed to shimmer.
His gaze quickly moved on, his voice deep and husky. “We’re here”
“Okay” Flaine didn’t get out of the car.
Kingsley didn’t rush her. His hand rested on the sofa, knuckles distinct, long, firm, and extremely beautiful
Gently, Elaine’s hand moved closer and covered the back of his hand.
Kingsley felt the warmth on his hand and his
his gaze immediately turned, locking eyes with Elaine, growing lazy. A smirk played on Elaine’s lips from this moment on, she could openly flirt with him.
Kingdey’s voice became even hoarser, extremely sexy. “What are you up to?”
Elaine chuckled. “Mr. Morgan, your hand is really beautiful” Her sweet voice swirled around his ears, accompanied by warm, moist breaths
ne Before he could react, Flaine gave him another smile and then got out of the car.
Kingsley didn’t drive away immediately. Instead, he watched Elaine’s figure disappear from his sight before starting the car and heading home,

Chapter 17
Seeing his car leave
car leave, Elaine came out from the small garden, her face carrying a meaningful smile.
Hmm, Mr. Morgan is quite a reserved and somewhat secretive man. But the more murmured inwardly.
more austere !
e he appears, the more I feel like pouncing on him, she
When Shawn learned from Daisy that Elaine was fooling around with an older man, possibly quite old, his eyebrows were tightly furrowed
“What did you say?” he asked in disbelief.
Davy kept fueling the fire. “Shawn, I’m telling the truth. I saw it with my own eyes. Didn’t you send her out of Floren Village before? It turns out she found a man to rely on, no wonder she’s so fearless.
She was subtly implying that Elaine was with that man for money, because Shawn had sent Elaine back to the countryside and the family had cut
off her allowance.
After all, Elaine was a daughter of the Yeats family. If she did sourcing so disgraceful for money, it would surely bring shame to the family.
Tracy, bearing this, turned pale and then flushed with varying shades. “So that’s why the damned girl wanted to go back to Floren Village last time, she found some guy to back her up. If she’s looking for a man like that, she might as well marry the idiot.
“At least his family runs a hotel, and their wealth is beyond comparison. Do you think they’d ever worry about money? I think she’s deliberately going against me; it’s driving me mad, she cursed.
Shawn frowned, a bit annoyed. “Mom, it’s because you and Dad cut off her allowance and pushed her to a corner that she ended up taking this path”
Bianca was a bit shocked, never expecting Shawn to come to Elaine’s defense
In the past. Shawn almost never paid any attention to Elaine, being extremely indifferent to her.
Being accused by Shawn, Tracy felt a bit put on the spot and stubbornly retorted. “Isn’t it just because Elaine doesn’t know better–always jealous of Bianca‘ Your dad and 1 are giving her a small punishment to teach her a lesson What’s the problem with that?”
“Alright, Mom, what’s the point of saying all this now!” Shawn felt a headache coming on.
Instantly, Tracy came up with a plan.
If Elaine really ended up with that old man, that would be leverage in her hands. Convincing Elaine to marry the fool would be much easier.
In the future, Elaine would definitely understand her good intentions. For a village girl raised in the countryside to marry into such a family was already considered high–climbing.
She thought, Boynton is full of prominent families; other noble families certainly wouldn’t choose a village girl like Elaine as a wife. I at least managed to find Elaine a family with power and status among all the noble families in Boynton. She should be satisfied”
Unknown to Tracy, her daughter, in her eyes, nothing, was far more capable than she imagined and no simple village girl to be swayed by her. Besides. Elaine had already sworn never to be manipulated again in this lifetime.
Yet, the insisted on controlling Elaine.
