Chapter 76
At the Morgan family estate, Elaine returned to her carefree life after the charity event, seitling into her usual rhythm. With Grace around, the Yeats family had no grounds to demand her return, and no one dared bring her back
As her fingers flew across the keyboard, a mysterious website appeared on the screen. Hidden behind advanced hacking techniques, it was not a site for ordinary people. Only the global elite could access it. And for the right price, there was no task too difficult, no job they couldn’t handle–unless you hadn’t paid enough.
Elaine hadn’t logged in for a while, but today, she was curious. The homepage was filled with tasks, ranked from S–level. SS–level, to the highest, $855–level
The 5555–level tasks, the most challenging of all, had been completed only a few times by the world’s top operatives. One completed mission could earn billions of points and rank you among the elite, with a cash reward of $300 million.
The latest 5555–level task was the assassination of Boynton’s rising star, Kingsley. But no one dared to take it on. Ever since the last failed attempt eliminate him, the task had lingered on the site, abandoned by all.
The members of the sure, usually filled with bravado, had been buzzing with speculation.
I know only two people who could pull off this mission. One is a legend who completed a Level 4 task a few years ago–rumor has it she was only 16 at the time, and her 1Q was off the charts. The other is someone from the military. He’s not well–ranked here, but his connections make him someone to be feared, one member posted..
“You’re talking about Velver and Venom, right?” another responded. “Too bad Velvet and Venom haven’t logged in for months. If either of them were to take on the task. I’d het everything that it would be a succes”
Velvet–Elaines alias on the site–was the name bring discussed. She’d once been an indomitable force, known for completing Level–i tasks that most could only dream of
“Was Velvet’s absence because of some feud with Nocturne’s fans?” one user asked, referring to a previous controversy
“Yeah, the fans of that idiot Nocture were all over Velvet’s case. All because she completed a Level–3 task, and they thought they were invincible. How dare they challenge Velvet, the one who’s completed Level- tasks? Velvet could easily wipe the floor with Nocturne, another user commented with disdain.
“Exactly. I’m a fan of Velvet. She’s so strong yet so humble, unlike that Nocturne. I really hope Velvet comes back and shows Nocturne’s fanboys how it’s done.”
The comments continued, praising Velvet, their online idol. However, some members were
were starting to question tha
question Velvet’s legendary status “Do you really think Velvet is all that? I don’t believe it,” a new user, “Stormstrike, chimed in, casting doubt on Velver’s expabilities.
At this, others immediately rushed to Velver’s defense,
“What You doubt Velvet you better delete that post, or I swear you’re going to regret it. Everyone knows Velvet is a goddess. You’re out of your
Inind‘
It was a heated exchange, and as the drama unfolded, Trevon, a high–ranking member, couldn’t help but join the fray. His sister, Bianca, was one of the biggest stars on the site, and he wasn’t going to let anyone disrespect Velvet without standing up for her.
Bunca, despite her delicate image, had been a silent force in the world of sock puppets Hidden behind layers of identities, she’d secretly become one of the site’s top operatives. Trevon was proud of his sister–after all, she had completed a Level- task, which was no small feat
“Are you really saying Velvet is the best? I doubt it.” Trevon typed, using his 10 to add weight to his argument. “Who’s this Velvet A 19–year–old girl? She could easily be some middle–aged man pretending to be a genius.”
But before he could finish, a comment popped up on the screen that caused an uproar
“Look, Velvet’s back.”
The once–dormant ID picture of Velvet suddenly lit up, sending shockwaves through the entire site. Members flooded the chat, buzzing with excitement. Velvet had returned–Ehine had returned.
Kingsley, meanwhile, was downstairs working in his office while Elaine was in her room. He often checked in on her, worried that she might be hiding her feelings. The last time, she had teared up after a phone call with her family, and he had caught her just in time.
Today, however, she seemed to be in better spirits. He brought her a warm cup of milk and set it on her desk before heading back downstairs.

As he opened his computer, he saw Velvet’s return and couldn’t help but smile. He had never met Velvet in person, but they had once collaborated on a mission. Since then, they’d kept in touch online, occasionally sharing thoughts on the forum.
Flaine, however, was unaware of the stir she had caused. Her focus was on the latest task posted on the site an assassination mission targeting Kingsley. The reward? A staggering $300 million. It was no surprise that the offer had made waves.
Despite the dangerous reputation Kingsley had earned, no one was brave enough to take on the mission after the failed attempt last time. The mystenous bidder behind the task was clearly set on ending Kingsley’s life, but no one knew who they were or what they had planned.
Just as Elaine pondered this, a message popped up
“Zora, did you return to Hosgland?”
Elaine recognized the name immediately–Leonardo Compton, the fashion industry’s “Master” She sighed, rubbing her temples. She knew that after her appearance on the trending topic, her sock puppet persona could no longer remain hidden.
