Chapter 168
After dealing with her two best friends, who were determined to take on the world, Elaine returned to the Morgan family with Kingsley. The sky outside was overcast as if a storm was brewing. But, as always, after the rain, the sky would clear.
Elaine gazed at the dark clouds outside, a faint smile playing at the corner of her lips. The Yeats family must feel quite suffocated right now, which reassured her. This gloomy weather was perfect for staying in and having a seafood feast.
The corridor outside Elaine’s room led to an endlessly beautiful garden full of elegance and charm. The Morgan family’s villa occupied a vast area. and as they often said, it truly reflected the nature of capitalists, with the scent of wealth permeating every corner.
It was said that the garden had been specially designed by a master landscaper hired by the Morgan family.
Shirley happened to be at home, and Elaine quickly arranged for everyone to enjoy a feast together. Upon hearing that Elaine was preparing the seafood feast. Shirley happily agreed.
They never sat together in Lento City to enjoy a seafood feast. A feast symbolized closeness, and sharing one meant family intimacy. Sitting down together for a meal, maintaining the facade of a relationship while keeping a respectful distance, was already considered generous.
But in that house in Lento City, with that person present, there was no room for closeness. Since arriving in Boynton, she had noticed that the home now had a much livelier atmosphere, and Elaine was responsible for bringing this fresh energy.
Shirley and Kingsley prefer staying in Boynton rather than returning to Lento City. Even Benjamin didn’t rush back to Lento City after attending the engagement banquet. Instead, he enjoyed playing chess with Elaine, making it a daily routine.
Benjamin was just as stubborn–despite never winning against Elaine in chess, he refused to let her go easy on him. She had never realized that he had such a charting side to him. His affection for Elaine was evident, and it seemed clear that certain people were about to be disappointed.
Naturally, the people in Lento City were growing anxious about the Morgans staying in Boynton. Shirley narrowed her eyes, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.
Now that Kingsley had married such an impressive wife, she couldn’t wait to see how their presence would irritate the rest of Lento City. She felt her status was elevated with someone as exceptional as Elaine as her daughter–in–law.
Grace sat on the bench, a woolen blanket draped over her shoulders. The scent of the seafood that Elaine was preparing tempted her. Kingsley stood nearby, assisting Elaine with adding ingredients to the pot, looking in high spirits
The servants stood to the side, noticing that Kingsley and Elaine had no intention of asking for their help. Understanding their place, they quietly waited, ready to assist if needed. However, they couldn’t help but wonder–this was the first time they’d seen Kingsley humbling himself to do such menial tasks.
Grace couldn’t help but ask, “Elaine, what ingredient are you adding! It looks delicious.” As a former aristocratic lady, Grace had never had the opportunity to enjoy a seafood feast with others–such things were not deemed appropriate by her upbringing. Times had changed, but no one was around to share with her.
To her surprise, the aroma was quite appealing. Elaine smiled and replied, “Grandma, this is corn, sausage, and beef. Doesn’t it smell great? Just a little more time, and it’ll be ready to eat. I promise it will taste wonderful”
Grace chuckled. With that scent in the air, I’m already craving it
Benjamin, standing nearby, added, “If you like it, I’ll eat it with you from now on. He felt a twinge of guilt in his heart–these post years. he hadn’t spent enough time by Grace’s side,
“That’s settled then, old man. Even if we return to Lento City, you’ll still have to eat with me,” Grace said, her tone hinting at playful reproach. Benjamin rarely sur
similed, but this time, he Have ins with a warm reply, “Alright, I’ll stay by your side.”
Elaine felt a slight tug at her heart as she watched the two elders gaze at each other with such tenderness. In a world where people often forsake their loved ones for personal gain, and scandals and infidelities were commonplace, their enduring bond stood out.

The fact that they had spent a lifetime together–staying faithful to each other, hand in hand–was a love many ordinary pe undoubtedly envy.
Kingsley noticed the wistful look in her eyes and gently ruffled her hair. When Klaine met his gaze, she seemed to see a

The food was almost ready, and they began to sit and enjoy the feast together. As the family happily gathered around the table, a servant suddenly

entered to repo
“Mrs. Morgan” the Crvant said, looking at Elaine. “A lady is waiting at the door, claiming to be your biological mother. We told hers weren’t bome and tried to stop her from coming in, but she was very persistent. No matter what we said, she wouldn’t listen and stood at the door, refusing to leave.
“So, we came to report to you to see how you’d like to handle this. The servant was also helpless. That woman refused to leave and had been disturbing their work. If they deducted her salary, she would have to compensate for it.
“Biological mother?” Elaine then realized it was someone from the Yeats family, most likely Tracy.
She thought, “I didn’t expect her to come here. She must be here for something related to the Yeats family. Elaine’s eyes darkened as she remained
silent.
When the Book Elf, who had been munching on cat treats nearby, heard Tracy had arrived, it immediately stood up and meowed as it hurried to Elaine’s side. Elaine looked at it with concern in its eyes and gently petted its head, signaling that it need not worry.
The Book Elf wasn’t worried about Elaine’s disadvantage; it was concerned about something else. It wanted to speak with Elaine, but seeing too many people around, it decided to wait for an opportunity to talk to her later.
“What biological mother? How dare she say that,” Shirley said, her expression filled with displeasure as she spoke first, “How can this woman have the nerve to come here? I’ve lived this long and never seen such a strange mother who loves her adopted daughter more than her owIL
“Don’t try to tell us about the deep bond with the adopted daughter. Parents who can’t treat their children equally don’t deserve to be called parents?”
Seeing her mother–in–law defend her so vigorously, Elaine felt a deep sense of gratitude and warmth in her heart..
Grace added, “That little schemer, Bianca, I’ve seen her before. You can tell right away she’s full of tricks. The Yeats family must have been blinded by her, thinking she could make them prosper, but it’s laughable. I believe that girl has a hidden agenda, and one day, she’ll fall.”
In terms of relationships, no one could accept seeing their own family showing favoritism toward another person, especially when that person was adopted with no blood ties to the family
In the past, Elaine had been stuck in a mire, unable to escape. But now, she had already emerged from it,
Elaine said, “I’ll meet her first and see what else she has to say
Shirley initially wanted to tell her not to go, but when she saw Elaine’s determined gaze, she refrained from saying anything more. Instead, she held her hand and said, “Don’t worry, Elaine. From now on, Kingsley and I will be here for you.”
“Alright, Elaine responded.
Kingsley gazed at the young woman before him, so strong yet fragile. He would protect her fragile side with all his might, while her strength could conquer anything
“Go ahead, Kingsley suddenly leaned down and kissed her forehead.
Elaine felt the warmth on her forehead, surprised by the kiss. A smile spread across her face, and her eyes sparkled as she looked at him. It was the first time Kingsley had kissed her in public, ignoring the gazes around them.
The servants were left in shock, their jaws nearly dropping. It was clear that Kingsley truly adored Elaine. After all, everyone knew that Kingsley was typically a man of strict restraint.
Grace and the others couldn’t help but chuckle, exchanging knowing glances with those present, thinking that the reserved man had finally come to
his senses
