Richard’s parents were quite careless. When he was young, they often forgot to prepare his lunch box for him.
This brat has been eating my free lunches for years. Since he’s now successful and I’m a kind–hearted person, I should indeed give him a chance to make amends.
After learning that I had agreed to Richard’s weekend meal, Sarah teased me, “You’re really a bad girl. Matthew just fought for you, and now you’re making plans to meet another young guy.”
I raised an eyebrow in response to this but didn’t say anything.}
Before officially agreeing to be Samuel’s girlfriend, I was always open to both men and women.
I liked making friends and hoped to be a gentle sunbeam among friends.}
For Samuel, I had suppressed my true nature for many years, and now I could finally release it without any reservations.}
Divorce was truly liberating.
The day after the fight, I received a call from my parents who were overseas.}
My traditionally–minded father sternly lectured me.
“Back then, you refused to go abroad with us and insisted on staying by Samuel’s side. You’ve been a married couple for ten years. It’s ridiculous to talk about divorce at this time, Natalie. Do you still think you’re a child? This is simply ridiculous.” I lowered my head and obediently listened to his lecture over the video call.}
As I listened, tears began to flow uncontrollably.“]
Seeing this, my mother immediately asked my father to stop.
She said, “Natalie, Samuel has explained everything to us, and he has admitted his mistake. He has already fired that Emily intern. Look, why don’t you two…”
“Mom, do you know what Samuel was doing when I had the car accident?”
I pinched my thigh, trying to cry while pitifully and stutteringly recounted in great detail how Samuel had taken Emily abroad for a trip.}
My parents finally fell silent.”
I continued, “So this isn’t just a moment of caprice. Are you willing to let me continue to be with such a man? Besides, I had planned to go abroad to be with you immediately after the divorce…“}
Upon hearing this, my father sighed and cleared his throat. After a while, he finally relented.
“Forget it. Your mother and I have never been able to control you since you were young. I’ll book your ticket when the time comes.“}] “Wow, thanks, Dad. I want a first–class ticket.”
Time flew by, and finally, the day before the official divorce appointment at the City Clerk’s Office arrived.
I was about to text Samuel to arrange a time.
At that moment, the doorbell rang.
Opening the door, I saw Samuel, who had clearly become thinner, holding a large bunch of my favorite sunflowers. He looked hesitant and uneasy.

“May I come in?“{
Seeing that I didn’t stop him, Samuel’s spirits lifted, and he walked into the house.}
Seeing the barely touched takeout box on the table, he went to the kitchen without asking and soon cooked my favorite spaghetti to
Knowing that I liked good food, Samuel had specifically spent money to learn cooking from a master for a period of time.
He made the spaghetti, which was definitely suiting my taste.”
I casually sat down on the sofa, rested my head on my hand, and asked him, “What’s the meaning of this?”
After a moment of silence, Samuel squeezed out a very unconfident smile and simply said.
“You’re so picky. You’ve been eating takeout a lot lately. It must have been tough. Natalie, eat the spaghetti first, and then we can talk.” He knew that I wouldn’t waste food, especially not good food.”
As I ate, Samuel turned on the TV and sat on the single sofa opposite me, watching an English Premier League match.
Our interaction remained so natural and ordinary.
For a few minutes, it felt like nothing had changed, until I finished eating.?
“Tomorrow at 9 a.m., you’ll come to pick me up for the appointment at the City Clerk’s
