“Honey, you must have heard it wrong.” Isadora despised the fact that she was lying to her son, but she couldn’t help it. He can’t know about this.
After a few minutes of silence, Asher shook his head. “Okay, if you say so,” he mumbled, and Isadora carefully ran her fingers through his dark, curly hair.
“I love you, okay?”
“I know.” Asher smiled, and this caused Isadora to take a deep breath.
“I’ll get the food.” Isadora excused herself and left the dining room. After she came back with the food, they dug into the feast. They ate in silence for most of their meal, and after Asher was done with his own meal, he thanked Isadora and excused himself to his room.
“He is so young, vibrates, and…“Eric held himself back from completing his words. He is just like Damon. I behaved like him. I like him. I stared like him. I walked like Damon. Even breathed like him.
The fuck. Eric was in complete awe. How could this happen? Was nature taking revenge on Damon and his family for treating Isadora the way they treated her?
“What?” Isadora stared at Eric’s pale face.
“Nothing.” Eric cleared his throat and took his attention back to his meal. “The food tastes great, but yours tastes better,” Eric complimented.
“Are you sure? Mr. Rollings made the side dish himself; he made it for me; I doubt mine could taste better,” Isadora chuckled.
“Who is Mr. Rollings?” Eric took a sip from his water before asking, and Isadora gasped at his question.
“You don’t know him?”
I…”
“He is the world’s best chef,” Isadora exclaimed.
“Well…” Eric touched his nose nervously.
“Are you being serious?” Isadora’s eyes grew bigger.
“I sincerely don’t know who he is; pardon me,” Eric laughed, but Isadora continued to shake her head in disbelief.
“Eric I’ve been meaning to ask you something; it’s about what Damon said,” Isadora explained as she walked him down to the entrance of the hotel.
“What did he say to you?” Eric turned to look at her.
“He said you made him believe that I was dead.”
“Oh…? He said that?”
“Yeah, he did; he also said that you showed him a fake body. I shouldn’t be asking this, but I can’t just get it out of my mind. What is that supposed to mean?”

“Dora “I had to do all that to make him back away from you.”
“Huh?”
“He was looking for you, so I…”
“He was looking for me? Why would he look for me after he and his parents threw me out? It makes no sense,” Isadora scoffed.
“The thing is…” Eric was trying to explain, but Isadora stopped him from talking once her eyes landed on Steve.
“Damnit, you have to go, Eric; see you next time.” Isadora pushed Eric out of the hotel.
“Bye, go now,” Isadora waved at him.
“Okay, bye.” Eric waved back at her before leaving.

“Hey Steve, what are you up to?” Isadora approached Steve to distract him from going out. She didn’t want him to run into Eric because she knew that he was going to report the incident to Damon, and Damon was going to find Eric.
Isadora’s mind has not been at rest since Damon threatened to harm Eric.
“Hi ma’am, why are you out here? It’s late; please go back to your room.”
“Will you then accompany me?” Isadora inquired.
“Uh…” Steve stared at his wristwatch before returning his gaze to Isadora.
“Okay, please lead the way.” Steve followed Isadora to her room before going down to meet Eric.
“Tell Damon to come out here; I want to see him out in the open,” Eric ordered, and Steve carried out his order.
“So who is the father of her kid? I hope you found out.”
“No, I didn’t; I already told you to stop getting overly curious. You’re too curious for your own good; it’s better if you don’t know who the father of her son is.”
“It’s better?” Damon frowned as he looked at Eric’s face. “What do you mean by that?”
“Don’t get too curious. I already warned you earlier on; do you need me to warn you again?” Eric rolled his eyes.
“I should get going,” Eric added after a few minutes of silence.
“Where?”
“Your men kidnapped me.” I was in the middle of something when I got abducted. I need to finish my work; have your men take me back,” Eric murmured and kicked his feet into the air.
“I’m waiting,” he groaned when he still didn’t get a reply from Damon.
The next day.
The competition officially commenced. The chefs walked to the booth, which had their names. They were made to prepare different foreign dishes, and one by one, those who didn’t get the cut were eliminated from the game. At the end of the day’s competition, six chefs were able to remain.
“Mom, how did it go?” Asher ran to Isadora immediately after she came into the room.

“It was a bit stressful to be honest; other than that, it was very fun,” Isadora confessed, and her confession made Asher smile a little.
“I wish you could smile like this around others; they complain about your inability to smile around them,” Isadora said, making a sad face. Asher was really good–looking, with a smile on his face. He was more than good–looking. His beauty constantly reminded her of the reason she ended up with his father. That was a was a horrible man. That unholy man.
At her words, Asher frowned. “Why would I smile for them? They are not mom or dad” He whispered the last word to himself.
“It doesn’t have to be me, Asher; there are other reasons why you should be friendly to other kids.” Isadora always got reports of how Asher preferred to be alone.
He despised physical contact, just like his father. He loathed it. He can only allow it with someone he has become familiar with.
It was disheartening to watch Asher slowly become another Damon.
“Mom, I’ll change; I’ll try,” Asher promised.
“Really?” A wide smile broke out on Isadora’s face.
“Yes for…”
Isadora didn’t wait for him to complete his words; she picked up her phone and dialed Katherine’s number. Soon Katherine was at the door, and she came with her kids. The knowledge creeped Asher out.
“No!” Panic gripped Asher as he watched the kids surround him.
