Chapter 14
“Mom?” The door opened a little, and a young boy popped his head out.
“Who are you?” The boy made to close the door, but Damon stopped him.
“Wait, wait a minute… I’m here for your mom,” Damon told him.
“Really?” The door opened a little again, and the young guy brought his head out.
“Who are you?” He repeated.
“Damon, my name is Damon.” Damon struggled to see the face of the boy.
“Damon?” The boy called and immediately threw the door open at his name.
“Yes, Damon. I…” Damon stood transfixed, staring at the familiar face of the little guy before him.
“You’re Damon?” The boy asked again.
“How on earth?” Damon gasped and slowly went down to the boy’s size.
“You look like me.” The boy couldn’t help but point it out.
“Exactly. Why do we look alike?” Damon muttered in shock as he stared at the boy.
“Asher!” Isadora’s voice suddenly caught their attention.
“Mom! You’re back.” Asher came out to embrace her.
“Asher, what are you doing out here?” Isadora’s eyes welled up with horror as she watched the scene before her.
Did Damon just discover Asher? Shit! This is big trouble.
“Mom, is he really Damon?” Asher asked her right away.
“Asher, go inside.”
“Huh?”
“Go inside!” Isadora ordered, and Asher reluctantly carried out her order.
Isadora made to go in with him, but Damon stopped her.
“I think I need an explanation; you can’t just ignore me. I need an explanation,” Damon deadpanned.
“Okay, what? What do you want?” After locking her door, Isadora turned to face Damon.
“Why does that kid look like me? Why do we look alike?”
“You must have seen it wrong; he does not look anything like you.” Isadora turned to leave, but Damon pulled her back.
“Do not lie to me, Dora. I know what I saw. I’m not blind.”
“Let go of me.” Isadora snatched her arm away and glared at him.
“You don’t have any right to question me, Damon. No right.” Isadora snapped.

Chapter 14
Damon took a deep breath, left her side, and paced about for a while before coming to meet her again.
“I just want to know who the father of that kid is. Isadora, is he mine? Did you… did you take in that time?” Damon asked in a much softer tone, but Isadora kept silent.
“Dora, please, I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but do not lie to me about such things; if he is mine, I have the right to know,” Damon groaned out in frustration.
“He is not yours, Damon.”
“Then explain the resemblance; why do we look alike then?”
“You are mistaken, I’ve told you. He does not look like you. My son looks nothing like you,” Isadora insisted.
“Then why aren’t you looking at me? Look at me and say it one more time.
“You think I can’t?” Isadora took her gaze to Damon’s face. “He is not your son, Damon,” Isadora repeated, now looking straight into his eyes. If he hadn’t seen the little boy himself, Damon could have been convinced. Even the little guy said they looked alike, so why was Isadora denying it?
“Goodnight, Damon.” Isadora turned to leave but halted her steps. “Do me a favour; do not ever come close to my room again. I’ll be forced to take extreme measures if you try what you did again.” With that said, Isadora took her leave.
Damon took his hand to his hair and ran his fingers through it roughly. Damn!
He knew what he saw. He was not drunk. He was in his right mind, yet Isadora kept denying it.
Why? Why is she acting that way? Is it that hard to admit the truth?
“Mom! Mom, who is that guy?” Asher didn’t waste time asking once Isadora entered the room.
“No one of importance.”
“Mom, please tell me. Why do we look so much alike?” Asher pleaded. “You have to tell me the truth; I know you’ve been lying to me.”
“Asher,” Isadora called, her voice full of warning.
“Okay, I understand,” he mumbled before rushing to his room.
“Shit!” Isadora groaned out in anger and frustration. Why did this have to happen? Why today? Why any day? Why did Damon have to find out about Asher?
What the hell was he doing in front of her door?
How do I solve this issue? Damon isn’t going to give up, and neither will Asher forgive me if I keep this attitude up. I don’t want him to stay mad at me. What do I do?
Isadora thought of who she could call, but no one came to mind. After thinking more about it, she left the room and went to Katherine’s. She still owed Katherine an explanation.
“Dora, what a surprise!” Katherine opened the door to let her in.
“No, I won’t stay long; I just wanted to apologize for my son’s behaviour. He is allergic to human contact.”
“Allergic to human contact?” Katherine stared at her, stunned. “I’ve never heard such a thing.”

“Yes, I know; it’s rare. At first, I thought he merely hated human contact, but I discovered with this incident that he was actually allergic to it. So far, I’m the only person he allows to be close to him. He allows his grandfather and my assistant to do so too, but not too often. I’m really sorry for what happened yesterday,” Isadora explained.
“Oh, then we’re the ones at fault here; we were not supposed to touch him without his permission.” Katherine looked at her with deep understanding.
“No, absolutely not! It’s no one’s fault but mine; I’m the only ignorant person here; I’m the one who doesn’t understand what my son truly wants.”
“Come on, don’t be too hard on yourself; I’m sure he has forgiven you.”
“Well, yes, I have to go now; I’ll catch you up later.”
“Yes, goodnight, Dora.” Katherine went into her room, and Isadora left. When she got back, she went straight to Asher’s
room.
“Honey!” Isadora knocked on the door.
“Honey, it’s me. I’m sorry for what happened. Please open up.” She knocked but got no answer.
“I’ll tell you about him, okay? I won’t lie to you anymore; just open up.” Isadora continued pleading. A few seconds later, the door opened, and Damon stood there with his tear–stained face.
“Really?”
