“Asher, do you have something to tell me? You have been smiling to yourself since I returned yesterday; do you mind telling. me what it is about?”
“No, there is no reason, mom.”
“Asher, don’t lie to me; there should be a reason.”
“Oh…”
“Yeah, what is the reason?”
“I guess I’m just happy.”
“Happy about what?”
“You came first in yesterday’s competition. One more competition, and then you are declared the winner,” Asher pointed
out.
With a smile, Isadora answered, “It’s not that easy; winning the competition doesn’t guarantee that you’ll emerge as the final winner, and besides, I’ve only won first.”
“Well, it’s still a good thing, right?”
“Yeah, I guess. I told you about my second date today, right? Mr. Brio will be here in a few minutes.”
“Yeah, sure, enjoy your date,” Asher shrugged.
“Hmm,” Isadora hummed to herself as she walked to her room. Asher was acting differently, and she knew it was not because of the game. There is something he is not saying. What could it be? You can hardly find things that get him so excited.
Isadora dressed up in time for her second date with Brio Canto, and immediately she heard the door. She grabbed her bag and rushed out to answer it.
“Mr. Brio.”
“I think I’m a minute late; I sincerely apologize for that,” Brio Canto apologized, but Isadora chuckled. Apologizing for being a minute late was funny, especially coming from the great Brio.
“No need for that.”
“Uh… Can I see your son? You told me about him yesterday.”
“Oh yeah, let me check in with him.” Isadora excused herself to Asher’s room, but she met him sleeping.
“He is asleep; I’m sorry,” she apologized.
“No, it’s not worth apologizing for; I can see him next time.” Brio moved out of the way so she could step out.
“Why did you choose this same venue?” Isadora looked around the restaurant they ate at yesterday.
“Oh, I thought you wanted to come back here. We should go to a different restaurant then.”
“No! That’s not what I meant; I’m only surprised; the restaurant is great; I’m not complaining,” Isadora immediately explained.

“Let’s go to a different restaurant; there is a good one not too far from here.”
“Mr…” Isadora tried to argue, but Brio took her hand in his and shut her up.

“Let’s go; I promise it’s not far from this one.” Brio gently led her out of the restaurant and to his car. And just like he said, they arrived at the other restaurant within ten minutes.
“How do you like the view?” Brio led the way into the new restaurant.
“It’s as great as the last one; I guess this city is packed with nice restaurants,” Isadora chuckled.
“You’d be surprised; most of these restaurants are in constant competition. When they got inside,” Brio had to excuse himself to speak to a server.
As Isadora waited by a corner, she took advantage of the great view of the restaurant. The restaurant was grand. Like it was made for kings.
Her eyes continued wandering the restaurant and eventually stopped on a particular pair of eyes that hadn’t stopped staring at her since she walked in with Brio.
Who is this person? Isadora took a closer look at the person to find out that he was none other than the great Damon. That horrible man.
Damon? What the hell is he doing here? He sat at a table with two other men who continued engaging him in their talk, but his attention was far from them.
Isadora quickly peeled her eyes off him and turned her attention to Brio.
“Let’s go. I reserved a table beside the wall; the view is nicer there.” Brio led her to a table beside the glass wall. The view was indeed better, but one particular person in the room couldn’t allow her to enjoy the view peacefully.
The way he hasn’t stopped staring at her until now. Isadora tried her possible best not to stare in his direction, but the position of her chair made it impossible for her.
“Are you okay?” Brio asked after noticing her discomfort.
“I’m fine; the view is wonderful; have you been to this restaurant before?”
“Yes, I’ve been here once. Their food is also great, and oh, I’d love to congratulate you. You really impressed me at yesterday’s games. I know we are competing in this game, but I have to admit, you’re a worthy mate. I love the fact that you bested Andrew with his own recipe; that was a good move,” Brio congratulated.
“Your words are too nice.” Isadora couldn’t hold back her smile; his compliment meant a lot. But she couldn’t continue smiling after her eyes mistakenly ran into Damon’s own. It was simply hard to ignore the sharpness in his eyes. The sharpness could cut through a rock.
Noticing the way her smile faded, Brio had to follow her gaze. He looked back to find out why she was acting the way she was. Immediately he noticed those pair of eyes; he moved his chair out of the table, and then he used his body to block Isadora’s vision.
“Better,” Brio announced once he had accomplished his mission.
“Now he can no longer look at you; I didn’t notice him earlier.”
“I’m sorry about that,” Isadora apologized.
“I should be the one apologizing for bringing you here, my bad.”
“Come on, Mr. Brio, how is this your fault?” Isadora couldn’t help but ask. Why was he always taking the blame?

“This is not your fault; it’s his fault, not yours.”
“Okay, I agree. Let’s put him aside and place our orders, shall we?”
“Absolutely! What’s on the menu?” Isadora grabbed the menu off the table and started going through it.
“Let’s have…” They were about to choose their order, but the sudden movement of Damon caught their attention.
They watched as he left his table and approached theirs. Wait, why is he coming to our table? Isadora tried to ignore his presence, but the hurried steps of Damon couldn’t let her.
And then he was standing in front of them!
