Chapter 19
Asher slowly fluttered his eyes open at the sound coming from the living room.
“What’s that sound?” He sat up on his bed and turned on his bedside lamp before checking the time.
“It’s past midnight; is Mom still awake?” Asher took off the duvet and walked down from the bed to the door. As he opened the door, he noticed that the lights in the living room were off. He carefully walked to the switch and turned the lights on.
“There’s nothing here,” he murmured after looking around the living room.
“Mom?” He walked to her room and knocked on the door.
“Mom,” he said, trying to open the door, but it opened from inside, and Isadora came out.
“Mom, were you the one?”
“Oh my gosh! Did I wake you up, honey? I’m really sorry about that. I was thirsty, so I got up to get a glass of water from the kitchen. The water fell, and I had trouble cleaning it.”
“Oh, I just wanted to confirm that you are okay.”
“I’m perfect; thank you, my son,” Isadora replied as Asher turned and walked back to his room.
“Sleep well,” he said before disappearing into his room. Isadora took a deep breath after Asher left.
“Oh my gosh! I almost got into trouble.” Isadora placed her hand on her fast–beating chest to calm herself down.
I almost got into trouble. How would I have explained it if he had seen him? Isadora thought as she walked into her room and locked the door.
No matter what she did to Damon, he wouldn’t wake up.
That damn bastard! She had to drag him to her room after she successfully removed his body; removing his body was the most difficult thing she ever had to do. He was just too heavy; it frustrated her a lot.
What’ll I do with him now? She had to quickly bring him to her room so Asher wouldn’t see him.
Isadora walked to him and started searching his body for his phone. When she found it, she tried turning it on, but it didn’t
turn on.
“Is the battery dead?” She took out her charger and quickly charged it before switching on the phone.
She opened the phone with his thumb and then went to search for his contact information.
“Huh,” she said as she scrolled through his contacts but couldn’t find a single saved number there.
What is this? Doesn’t he keep people’s numbers? Isadora tried other ways but still didn’t find a single number that she could
call.
What is the meaning of this? What the hell is this? Isadora cried out in frustration.
She was hoping to find Steve’s number.
This bastard! She turned to glare at Damon.
I hate him so much. She kept his phone aside and paced about the room.

Chapter 19
I should have asked Steve for his number that day; should I look for him now? Isadora pondered.
I can’t leave him here: I have to look for Steve, she said to herself before changing into normal wear.

“Mom, are you going somewhere?” Isadora turned to find Asher standing in front of his door.
“Asher, why aren’t you asleep?”
Isadora left the front door and walked to him.
“I can’t sleep.” Asher answered. “Can I sleep in your room?”
“In my room? No! No, not my room!” Isadora’s eyes grew wide.
“Huh?” Asher stared at her. Why was she acting weird?
“Let’s stay in your room; come on.” Isadora led him to his room.
“Lie down; I’ll stay here with you until you fall asleep.” Isadora laid him down on the bed and covered him with a duvet.
“But where were you heading to?”
“What?”
“You were about to leave the house.”
“No, I was not; I heard a weird noise and came out to check,” Isadora lied.
“Okay,” Asher said, closing his eyes, and a few minutes later he was sleeping soundly.
“Oh gosh,” Isadora said, standing up and quietly walking out of his room.
Isadora walked back to her room to check if Damon was awake, only to find him still sleeping.
What should I do with him? Isadora stared at him in frustration. This man was really frustrating her life.
“Sir,” very early the next morning, a man who looked to be in his mid–forties walked into a room with a file in his hand.
“Sir, I have retrieved the information you asked for.” He walked to the only table in the room and dropped the file on it.
“Have you gone through it?”
“Yes, your suspicion is right, and this file here will put him behind bars for the rest of his life,” the man replied.
“Hmm, what about my granddaughter? What has she been up to lately?”
“Your granddaughter? Which of your grandchildren are you referring to, sir?”
“Oh, are you referring to Ms. Isadora, Sir Isaac’s daughter?”
“Yes, tell me what she has been up to.”
“Sir, she has not been in town for days; she left with her son to Lovestruck City.”
“For her food business?”

“Yes, she’s attending a chefs gathering. If she emerges as the winner, then she will be given the title of Executive Chef”
“Hmm
“What are you thinking about? Will you go ahead with your plan to shut down her food business?”
I have no option; she is not giving me much of a choice Bring all her businesses down; do it before she returns.
“Why are you not replying?

“I just think this is not the right way to go about things; she will end up hating you even more; she thinks you are responsible for her father’s death, and forcing her into the company will only make her despise you more.”
I’m close to my grave; if I don’t hand the company over to her before I die, then everything that I’ve worked for will go to waste. Shut down her businesses, as well as find the man she was involved with. I need to know who he is; when you find him, bring him to me immediately.”
