The moment they arrived at Star City, Steve called for a ride, and two minutes later, a black car stopped in front of them.
“This isn’t our ride,” Steve pointed out but went ahead to check in with the driver.
“Get inside the car.” About fifteen hefty men, all dressed in black, surrounded them.
The moment this happened, Steve quickly went behind Damon. What the hell is this? Steve wondered. Who were these men? Who sent them?
“Sir, should I attack?” Steve waited for Damon’s command, but Damon remained quiet. The only thing he did was observe the men, their clothes, their shoes, and their faces; he studied them.
The men started closing in on them, prompting Steve to ask the question a second time.
“Sir, what should I do?” Steve asked. Steve could singlehandedly bring all the men to their knees with Damon’s permission, so why wasn’t he saying anything? Why was he hesitating?
“Allow them; don’t fight them,” Damon ordered finally.
“Sir!” Steve stared at Damon in disbelief. Was he being serious?
“Allow them,” Damon stated again.
“As you command,” Steve said, lowering his head in respect before turning his attention to the men.
“Clear the way; we’ll follow you but do not try to provoke us,” Steve warned. With or without Damon’s command, he could still knock some of their teeth out.
Steve moved to the black car and opened it for Damon to get in. Damon got in and sat, then he sat beside him before closing the door.
The driver brought the car to life before driving out of the airport.
A few minutes later, the car stopped in front of a huge house.
“We’re here,” the driver announced.
Some of the men from the airport came forward and opened the door.
“Come down,” one of them ordered.
Steve glared at him before stepping out of the car. He held the car’s door for Damon, and Damon also came down. With a glance around, Damon followed the men to the house’s entrance.
A butler came out to greet them and said, “Welcome.”
“The chairman is waiting in his office; I’ll inform him of your arrival; you can wait for him in the waiting room.” The butler led them to the waiting room before hurrying away to inform the chairman.
“Sir, are you sure about this?” Steve turned to ask Damon when they were alone.
“This house is one of the finest that I’ve been to. Whoever owns this place is a made person,” Steve pointed out.
“Do you know who this person is? When Damon didn’t answer,” Steve probed.

“I don’t know who he is, but I guess we’re about to find out.” Damon took a deep breath.

He doesn’t know him. Steve stared at Damon in disbelief. Why, then, did he allow his men to take them?
“You’re here.” A man who looked to be in his mid–sixties walked into the waiting room and took a seat. His majestic walk, the way he spoke, and the way he stared. Damon didn’t miss it.
The man took his seat and looked at them.
“Why aren’t you seated?” He questioned.
Steve turned his gaze back to Damon, expecting him to react, but Damon didn’t; instead, he did as the man said. He walked to the couch opposite the man’s own and sat down.
Once he was seated, Steve walked behind his couch and stood. Determined not to let his guard down.
“Your guard is a bit too serious,” the man pointed out. A maid walked into the waiting room and served the man a cup of tea. She turned to serve one to Damon, but Damon waved his hand and dismissed her.
“Or maybe I’m mistaken; you are a bit more serious yourself.” Do you think it’s poisoned?”
“I was taught not to accept a stranger’s generosity; it could kill,” Damon said, and this earned him a chuckle from the man seated across the table.
“You were not taught well then.” The ones around us are mostly the devil, which we should be wary of.”
“Who are you?”
“Do you not know me?” That’s rare; I’ve never seen someone who doesn’t know me.” The moment he said that Damon sent a message to Steve with his eyes.
Steve got the message and quickly researched the man. He gave his phone to Damon to read the information about him.
“I see,” Damon mumbled before handing Steve his phone.
“I guess I can relax a little now; my apologies.”
“No need for apologies; I think I can see the reason why my granddaughter chose you.”
“Your granddaughter chose me?” Damon repeated after the man. What was he saying? Who was his granddaughter?
“The information didn’t show you that? You should be able to see my children there. Oh! I almost forgot that Dora’s name had been removed. She didn’t want people to know how she was associated with me.”
“Dora?” At the mention of her name, Damon’s heart raced.
“Did you just say, Dora?”
“Yes, Isadora.”
“You are Isadora’s father?”
“No, grandfather, Aren’t I old enough to be considered her grandfather?” Her father is late. “The man took a sip of his tea.
Damon and Steve exchanged glances at the man’s assertions, Was he serious right now?
What does he mean by this? Isadora was his granddaughter?
“Based on your reaction, I can tell that she also hid her identity from you.” She hates being associated with me.”

“I won’t easily believe you.” Being a powerful figure doesn’t make one incapable of lying.
“I don’t need you to believe me. I brought you here for a reason.”

“For years, I decided to ignore Dora’s baby daddy’s identity after she kept the truth from me.” But recently, I’ve decided to fish the man out, whoever he was. I was about to send my men to Lovestruck City when I received a message about your arrival at Star City. You willingly walked into my net; it’s amazing.”
“So, what do you want from me?”
“What do I want? Before that, tell me why my granddaughter left you. Why did you abandon her and your child?”
“I didn’t…” Damon was about to explain himself but stopped.
“It doesn’t matter what happened in the past; right now, your granddaughter hates me and doesn’t want me around. Whatever plans you have won’t work.”
“She hates you?” He narrowed his brows. “Tell me why she hates you.”
“I wronged her.”
“Why then are you sticking around her since you wronged her? Why are you in this city? I suppose you followed her back here.”
“I’m trying to make it up to her.”
“In what way?” How do you plan to dissolve her anger?”
“Do I have to explain that to you?”
“Yes, tell me everything. I want to hear everything. I have the power to make you disappear from her side forever, so you better open up to me.” “Your words will determine my next line of action.” Damon made contact with Steve at the man’s warning.
This man was something else. No wonder Isadora didn’t want to be associated with him. She probably disliked his guts.
“Can you tell me about your plans for me first? What do you plan to do?”

“A husband. I want to find a husband for her; if your answers don’t impress me, then I’ll make sure you never see her again.” With a determined look, the man delivered his answers.
