Chapter 5
“Hello, Eric.”
“Hi Dora, it’s been a while,” Eric greeted from the other end. “I wasn’t expecting your call.”
“Yes, I know, but there is a problem.”
“A problem?” There was a short pause at the other end.
“Yes, I think… I think Damon is here.”
“Damon? That’s not possible; I met him last week; he is still in this city,” Eric assured.
“I… I’m scared.”

“You don’t need to be scared; Damon is here; I’ll check with his guards and get back to you.” The call ended, and Isadora took a deep breath.
“It’s not possible; it can’t be him. It’s all in your head,” Isadora assured herself once more before leaving to join John.
Later that day, a knock sounded at her door, and Isadora went to get it.
“Good evening, Ms.” The same lady that had brought her to this room stood outside with a polite smile.
“Yes, how can I help you?”
“There is a message from Mr. Rollings,” the lady informed.
Narrowing her brows, Isadora asked, “What message is that?”
“He wants to meet the top three chefs on his list before the meeting commences tomorrow,” the lady said, delivering the details of the separate meeting before taking her leave.
Around 9:00 p.m. that night, Isadora dressed up and secretly left her room for the location of the separate meeting.
“Hello, Ms. May I have your name tag?” One of the guards at the door requested, and Isadora immediately handed over her name tag and went into the luxurious space owned by none other than Mr. Rollings.
“Good evening, Ms., please sit over here; Mr. Rollings will be out shortly,” a lady in professional attire addressed Isadora, and she took a seat beside the man she recognized as Andrew Peters. He is number one on Mr. Rollings list, and he currently holds the title of best chef after Mr. Rollings.
Isadora also recognized the man sitting opposite her as the second on Mr. Rollings list. His name is Brio Canto, and he holds the title of the most handsome chef in the world. Looking at him now, Isadora could understand why they referred to him as the most handsome chef in the world.
He was really good–looking, and the way he gazed could easily make one fall in love with him. Aside from this title, Brio Canto held one other title; he is considered the wealthiest chef in the world, even wealthier than Mr. Rollings, and this is because he was born into a very wealthy family, just like the one Isadora was born into.
But the difference between him and Isadora is that the outside world has no knowledge of Isadora’s ancestry, but everyone knows about Brio Canto’s heritage.
“Hi, I’ve been meaning to meet you; I’m glad I finally met you here.” Brio brought his hand out for a handshake as Isadora made to take her seat.
With a very polite smile, she said, “It’s nice meeting you too. I’ve also been eager to meet you both,” she said, taking her gaze

to Andrew, but to her surprise, Andrew gave her a scornful look.
“Ignore him.” Brio said, still maintaining the smile on his face.

“I…” Isadora shook her head in disbelief. She had always admired Andrew; he was the other person she looked up to after Mr. Rollings, so she didn’t expect him to be so rude. Is this his real behavior?
“It’s alright, Mr. Rollings will be out soon; I guess we can catch up after we’re done with him.”
“Yes, of course.” Isadora smiled in gratitude and took her seat. A minute later, Mr. Rollings appeared from the corners of the
room.
The three of them got to their feet as an act of respect as he slowly strolled to take his seat in the middle.
Mr. Rollings is a man who has been famous for most of his life. He gained popularity at the age of seven due to his love for cooking, and then he successfully worked his way to the top and became the world’s best chef.
“I can see that you are all here,” he said after taking his seat.
“Yes, sir, I have been waiting for you.” Andrew was the first to speak.
So he knows how to speak? Isadora secretly scoffed at this.
“Yes, that is good, Andrew. How about you, Ms.? You are the only female here.”
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be here, sir; I won’t let it go to waste.” Ms. Isadora composed herself and said.
“Do you know why I called the three of you here?” Mr. Rollings took his gaze from one person to the next.
“We are the best, so you wanted to see us secretly,” Andrew was quick to respond again. Was he trying to gain Mr. Rolling’s favor?
“Yes, because I believe that this meeting is primarily set up for you. The next executive chef will be decided at this meeting. I’ve held onto the title for a long time, and I think it’s best to drop it now. Ha ha!” Mr. Rollings laughed, and Isadora shook her head in understanding.
Mr. Rollings didn’t waste much of their time and dismissed them after delivering his message. As they stood to leave, Mr. Rollings called Isadora and asked her to wait.
“How is your grandfather, Ms. Isadora? I hope he is still breathing fine,” Mr. Rollings inquired, and Isadora widened her eyes in shock.
“You know my grandfather?” Isadora made sure that her family background stayed hidden from the public. How did Mr. Rollings find out?
“Ha ha, I schooled with your grandfather; I’m pretty old; I even know your father. I was happy when I found out that you were the granddaughter of an old friend.” Mr. Rollings spoke so gently that Isadora wished he was her grandfather instead.
“Stop acting so old; you are not that old; I’m sure my grandfather is older.” Isadora found herself scolding him. He truly considered himself old from the way he spoke.
“My dear, forgive this old man. I’m glad my old friend is still alive. Please send my regards to him. And also, I truly wish you success in the upcoming competition; I hope you emerge as the winner; you have a beautiful smile; and no doubt, your meals will taste great.”
After the meeting with Mr. Rollings, Isadora returned to her room and picked up her phone; she hadn’t gone out with it. She scrolled through her phone to see several messages and missed calls from Eric.
Without hesitation, she opened his message to read it.

“I hope he hasn’t seen you yet. I’ve been calling to inform you of my findings. It turns out Damon left Scarlet City two days ago. He might be the one you saw!”
