Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Isadora’s heart skipped at the message, and she didn’t know when her phone slipped from her hand.
“Mom.” She flinched and turned to see Asher watching her from the door.
“Yes, baby,” she said, immediately placing a smile on her face.
“Did something happen?”
“No, come in,” she beckoned, and he walked into the room to meet her.
“Why aren’t you asleep?”
“I couldn’t sleep; I had a nightmare,” Asher replied, and this brought a frown to Isadora’s face.
“A nightmare?”
“Yes, but
you don’t have to worry about it; I came out to make sure that you’re in bed; I’ll go back to sleep now,” he kissed her cheek and made for the door again.
“Asher wait!” She called before he shut the door. She quickly rushed to him and engulfed him in a warm hug.
“I love you so much,” she said, kissing his cheek and holding back a tear.
“I love you too, Mom,” Asher stared at her worriedly after they disengaged from the hug.
“Are you sure that you’re good?”
“Of course I am; I got reminded of the past, but I’m good,” Isadora smiled.
“Does this past have to do with Dad? Is she dead?” At that question, the smile on Isadora’s face vanished.
“No… No, it’s not; it’s not about your father, Ashy. Go to bed now; I’ll check up on you before I go to sleep.”
“Alright, goodnight.”
“Goodnight,” Asher said, going into his room and closing the door.
Immediately after Isadora closed the door, she took her hand to her fast–beating chest. Her heart had been racing since she saw that message, but it got worse when Asher mentioned Damon.
What is happening?
The first day of the event.
Everyone is gathered in the big hall, with the chefs on one side and the businessmen on the other.
The MC made everyone introduce themselves before pointing out the main reason why they were there. The MC also spoke on the importance of collaboration and partnership. But as the MC spoke, Isadora couldn’t bring herself to pay attention as the feeling of restlessness overwhelmed her.
She was restless and scared. Scared to run into him. Afraid to be seen by him.
From the corner of her eyes, she searched the big room but didn’t find any trace of him, and till the event ended, she didn’t see anyone that looked like him.

Chapter 6
Immediately after the event of the day was concluded, Isadora started hurrying back to her room.
“Hey babes,” she was stopped by Katherine when she reached the door.
“Yes,” Isadora flinched and moved away at the contact.
Are you okay?” Katherine’s eyes widened in fear.
“I am okay; I am sorry,” Isadora apologized.
“I noticed your discomfort throughout the meeting and wanted to ask you about it.”
“I have terrible cramps.” Isadora wasn’t the type to lie, but lying right now was necessary, or else Katherine could keep questioning her.
“That’s bad; you should probably take some medication,” Katherine suggested with a sad face.
“No, Imma, just lie down for a bit. Thank you for your concern.” Isadora quickly left the hall.

As she rushed down to her room hastily, she didn’t understand how it happened, but she bumped into someone and almost
fell.
Isadora immediately regained her balance, and without looking at the person she bumped into, she bowed her head deeply in apology.
She knew that it was her fault for not watching where she was going.
“I’m really sorry,” she added and turned to continue her journey; however, she hadn’t gone too far before a hand gripped her shoulder and turned her forcefully.
“Ouch,” she winced painfully and forced her arm away.
“Dora?” She heard it and immediately looked up.
Isadora gasped and immediately took a step back when she recognized the person standing before her.
“You’ve got the wrong person,” she said. She changed her voice and quickly hurried away, giving him zero chance to look at her any more.
Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Isadora gripped her chest tightly because of how fast it was beating.
What am I going to do? He will eventually recognize me. I should have been more careful. Isadora got to the elevator and pressed the button.
As she waited for the elevator to open, she noticed someone rushing towards her.
Don’t tell me he followed me. Isadora tried to maintain an indifferent posture as he drew closer. The elevator opened, and Isadora immediately rushed in, then pressed her floor button.
“Isadora!” She looked away and pretended not to hear him, but when he was much closer to the elevator, the elevator closed, shutting him out.
Isadora released the breath she didn’t know she had been holding and collapsed on the floor.
Do I have to change my hair colour or my name to be able to escape him? What should I do? Isadora ran her fingers through her hair as she thought.
Wait, why is the elevator not moving? At that moment, Isadora realized that the elevator hadn’t moved since it closed up.

She slowly rose to her feet when she noticed the doors reopening.
Don’t tell me…
“Isadora.” The doors opened to reveal him standing there with a crazy look on his face.
He stepped into the elevator, and Isadora moved to the corner, scared of what he was going to do.
“You… you are alive.” He said it with shaky breaths.
“You… How are you alive?” He took another step towards her, and she kept moving back until she could no longer move.
“I said that I am not her! I don’t know who you are talking about; we might look alike or something, but I’m not her,” Isadora gathered herself at that moment and said.
I want to be saved. I want to get away from him.
“You are not her?” he asked.
“Obviously, this is my first time seeing you,” Isadora maintained her calm, outward look. She expected him to step back or apologize for mistaking her for someone else, but he did quite the opposite.
He pulled her closer and ripped her dress open to check the birthmark on her back, and when he found the birthmark exactly where he remembered it to be, he exclaimed and moved away from her.
“What the fuck? How is this possible? I even saw your dead body.”
“How the fuck are you alive?” His face turned white with shock.
He had searched for her two days after that incident, but he was shown her dead body instead. How is this possible?
