Damon sat in front of Isadora and continued watching her like a hawk. He had brought her to his room against her will, and he had locked her in his room. He was finding it difficult to believe that the person sitting before him was indeed Isadora, his wife, but as seconds turned into minutes, he started registering the fact that his wife was very much alive and not dead.
“How have you been?” He asked after what felt like an eternity, but Isadora remained silent.
“You must be hungry,” he said, standing up and disappearing. He came back a few minutes later with a tray, which he placed in front of her. Isadora glanced at the tray but immediately looked away. In the past, she would have been pleased with his act, but right now, all she wanted to do was escape this man. His presence felt suffocating. She didn’t want to be anywhere near him.
“Eat,” he said, pushing the tray and keeping it beside her.
“Dora,” he called when she didn’t make any moves.
“Do you want to leave?”
“Yes,” Isadora finally answered; she didn’t even let him finish his question.
“Steve will escort you.” Damon stood up and disappeared after he said that. A few minutes later, Steve appeared before Isadora.
“Ma’am,” Steve called, and Isadora’s eyes widened. He was indeed here; Steve has always been Damon’s guard.
“You are alive,” Steve said, and Isadora couldn’t help the smile that graced her face. Steve was one of her favourite people when she was still married to Damon.
He would always come around to eat her food, and after he was done eating, he would praise her cooking skills a lot.
“Steve.” Isadora’s formal fear vanished, and she found herself embracing Steve, but the way Steve stiffened up had Isadora withdrawing from the hug.
“Are you okay?” Isadora asked.
“Ma’am, you’re a married woman; I can’t be caught in this position with you,” Steve said, and Isadora frowned.
“Married woman?” She repeated.
“We are divorced; surely you must remember the events of the past,” Isadora said. Steve even helped her with her bags when she was thrown out.
“Oh…” Steve stared at his feet shyly. He was still the same shy big guy; one look at him and you would think that he was a devil, but when you get to know him, you will learn that he is only a big baby. Isadora had liked him very much in the past because of how he dedicated himself to protecting Damon. He was skilled–very skilled–when it came to combat.
“Ma’am, how have
you
been?”
“I’ve been okay; can you take me out of here first?” Isadora asked, and Steve quickly led the way.
“Mr. Hill still thinks about you; everyone still remembers you.”
“Really? How is everyone?” Ignoring Damon’s part, Isadora asked.
“Felicia still cries whenever you are mentioned; she’s married to Tom, and they have a baby together.”
“What? I need to see her; I’ve also missed everyone,” Isadora exclaimed. Isadora became a housewife after her marriage to

Damon because he didn’t allow her to work, so she spent most of her time with the houseworkers; she loved them and knew a lot about their personal lives, and they equally loved her.
Although things with Damon went south, it didn’t mean she stopped loving them; she still thought of them every now and
then.
“Really? They’d be delighted to hear of your return. We all thought you died; we mourned you secretly and even held a memorial for you. It feels so good to see you,” Steve said, and Isadora couldn’t help the smile that covered her face.
“I’ll surely meet you all again, but I don’t know when and…”
“Will you come back to the house?”
“What?”
“Will you settle things with Mr. Hills and return to the house?” Immediately after she heard that question, the beautiful smile on her face vanished.
“No, I won’t,” she said, shaking her head.
“Okay, that’s not a problem. Where is your room? Let me escort you there.”
“No, it’s fine; I’ll take it from here,” Isadora refused.
“Are you sure? Mr. Hill asked…,
“No, it’s totally fine; you can return now; I’ll see you again; bye,” Isadora waved at him, and Steve waved back.
He watched as she walked to the elevator and got in.
She’s still so beautiful, he thought to himself.
“What did she say?” The familiar voice of Damon rang from behind, and he quickly composed himself.
“She said she was okay, so I didn’t question her further. I told her about the others, and she agreed to come by to see them. She didn’t say when,” Steve quickly summarized.
“Can you tell how intense her hatred for me is?” The next question he asked surprised Steve.
“Sir…”
“I messed up, didn’t I?” At that question, Steve lowered his head in resignation. Everyone was disappointed in him back then; all the workers at Johnson’s manor secretly hated him for how he sided with his parents and sent his wife away.
“Sir I…”
“You don’t have to answer me; tell Mat to investigate and find out how she’s been; tell him I need every detail he can find.”
“Yes, sir,” Steve obeyed.
Isadora sat beside Asher as he completed some schoolwork; looking at Asher now made her feel like she was staring at Damon. The striking resemblance they shared amazed her, but at the same time, it dissatisfied her.
It displeased her because anyone who saw Asher could easily figure out that he and Damon were related. Their resemblance is no joke.
“Did something happen?” The sweet, alluring voice of Asher pulled her out of her thoughts.

“No, why do you ask?”
“You look very emotional; I can feel different energy eradicating from you.” That was true; Isadora had felt all kinds of emotions today. Fear, anger, happiness, confusion, and anxiety.
“You are really smart, darling. I saw someone from my past earlier, and I really liked him,” Isadora confessed.
“Then you should be happy. Where is the angry energy coming from? That particular emotion is very strong; it’s hard not to feel it.”
“Just ignore Mom and work.” Isadora pursed her lips and ran her fingers through his hair.
“Okay,” Asher returned to his work, and Isadora got lost in her thoughts again.
“Sir, I’ve gathered information about Ma’am; I know why she’s here,” Steve walked into Damon’s room to announce.
“Speak.”
“She’s here as a top chef. She also brought a young boy with her; they think he’s her son.”
