“Her son? What do you mean by that?” Damon could no longer enjoy the comfort of his bed and had to stand up to move
closer to Steve.
“I asked around like you said I should; you desired to know why she was here,” Steve nervously answered. He had also been surprised by the report he gathered about Isadora being there with a child.
“Did she remarry?” Damon couldn’t keep the question from slipping through his lips.
“Unfortunately, sir, I have no idea. Mat is working on that and will soon arrive with an answer,” Steve informed, but the troubled look on Damon’s face didn’t disappear.
“A child. A child.” He kept repeating the word to himself.
“Mr. Rollings asked to see you, sir; he sent the message fifteen minutes ago; won’t you reply to his call?”
“I’ll see him in the evening,” Damon said, turning and walking back to his bed.
“Please excuse me.” Steve excused himself and walked to the door. He stopped at the door to take a last look at Damon’s troubled face. Deep down, he also wished that the report could come out negative. The thought of Isadora remarrying didn’t sit well with him.
Two hours later, a text came to his phone, and he immediately checked it. After reading the message, he rushed to Damon’s room and knocked on the door.
“Sir, I got a reply.” The door to Damon’s room opened to reveal an anxious Damon.
“What does it say?”
“There is no record of her remarrying, but there is something about her that is quite shocking.”
“What is it?”
“She seems to be from an influential lineage. Steve showed the reports to Damon, and Damon read through them.
“The good thing is that she’s not married, but who’s the father of the kid?” Damon stared at Steve with grave expectations.
“It doesn’t say.”
“Even the age of the kid is not revealed. I need to see her.”
“Sir,”
“I need to see Isadora; what’s her room number?”
“105 sir.”
“Her contact, call out her contact information.” Damon picked up his phone and typed in the number Steve called out.
He grabbed his coat and walked out of his room and to the elevator, which took him down.

Isadora sat in the spacious sitting room of the hotel with her assistant, John, as they discussed their potential partners and investors.
“I think Mr. Bart Markeell will be interested in you after he reads the proposal; he might propose to establish

outside the country.”
“Mrs. Sandy Leonardo holds a great reputation in the business world; I reckon we work with her too,” John advised, and Isadora listened.
“What about Mr. Peterson? He does seem like a perfect person to collaborate with.”
“Yes for Mr. Peterson. I’ve done my investigation, and I’ve found out that…”
The sound of Isadora’s phone interrupted them, and Isadora had to excuse herself to answer the call.
“Hello.” Once she reached her room, she answered the call.
“Hello, I’m outside your door.” The familiar baritone voice boomed from the other end.
“Who are you?” Still trying to convince herself that he would not be the one, Isadora asked.
“You know it’s me, Dora; I’m outside your door.”
“Why?”
“Because I want to see you.
“I don’t want to see you!” Isadora quickly disconnected the call, but a second call came in.
“Are you sure about that? Should I knock loudly at your door?”
“What?” Isadora gasped. Is he crazy?
“Do you prefer I knock until everyone finds out about us?”

“Shit!” Isadora gritted her teeth and ended the call. She walked out of her room to see John still concentrating on the project.
“John, I need to step out for a little bit. If Asher wakes up, tell him to call me if he needs anything.”
“Sure, be safe,” John answered, and Isadora went out to indeed find Damon waiting by the door. He held a cigarette stick in between his lips. In the past, she could frown and warn him about the dangers of smoking, but now she didn’t give a fuck, and if he liked, he could smoke himself to death.
“What do you want?” With an angry tone, Isadora questioned.
Damon immediately threw the cigarette stick on the floor and stepped on it. The cigarette seemed to have kept him company while he waited for Isadora.
“You’re here,” he grinned like a child, but Isadora moved her gaze away; she wasn’t going to entertain him like she did in the
past.
“Let’s go.” Damon pointed to the elevator, and Isadora narrowed her eyes.
“Go where?” she frowned.
“You’ll see, he made to hold her hand, but she quickly moved away from him like he was some wild animal. In the past, she was always the one craving his touch, and he was always the one creating distance between them–well, until he got used to her, or so.
“Let’s go,” he said as he walked to the elevator and pressed its button. The elevator door opened, and Damon urged her to get in. She took a deep, nervous breath before stepping in. Immediately after she got in, the memories of the last time flooded
into her mind.
