Chapter 9
Chapter 9
“The father of your kid, who is he?”
“I… I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Dora, you know what I’m talking about; you didn’t remarry, so who is the father of your son?”
“It’s none of your business; why are you asking me that?”
“Did you sleep with some random guy?”

“What?” Isadora stared at Damon with disbelief written on her face. “Even if I slept with a random guy at the club, it shouldn’t be your business, and let me warn you: do not… Don’t ever come to my door,” Isadora warned him sternly.
“You don’t want me to see the boy?”
“Damon!”
“I won’t come to your door unless you force me to.”
“What do you mean?”
“Come to mine whenever I ask, then I won’t have to come down to yours.”
“What do you take me for? Do you still see me as your housewife? Your obedient housewife,” Isadora snapped. “How dare you try to control my movement, you freak?!”
“I’m not trying to…”
“Fuck you,” Isadora said, turning and heading to the entrance.
“I’m sorry. It’s just that I’ve missed you.” Damon went after her, but she didn’t stop or try to entertain him.
“Dora Eric made me believe that you were dead; that’s why I stopped looking for you. If I hadn’t seen the fake dead body he showed me, then I would have continued looking for you. It’s his fault, okay?”
“Is it also his fault that we are divorced today?” Isadora scoffed.
“I was going to make it up to you, but he ruined it, and I won’t forgive him for that.” At his words, Isadora stopped walking.
“What do you mean?”
“He deceived me into thinking that you were dead. I knew he liked you, but I didn’t expect
him to
go
that far to separate us.”
“Look, Eric didn’t do anything okay; it was all me. I wanted to get away from you forever; he did nothing wrong, so do not
blame him.”
“Do you want to save him?”
“What?”
“Do you want to save Eric?”
“Why are you asking me that?”
“If you want to save him, then promise me one thing.”

Chapter 9
“I won’t promise you anything; I shouldn’t even be having this conversation with you.”
“Then I suppose you won’t have a problem if he dies.”
“What?” Isadora gasped. He must be joking!
“You are going to kill him? You…?”
“I’ve not been the same since you left; I’m more than capable of that. I’ll take my anger out on him,” Damon vowed.
“You’re out of your mind.” Isadora shook her head pitifully before walking away.

He is out of his damn mind. Isadora grabbed her phone immediately. She got into the elevator and dialed Eric’s number.
She needed to warn him. Damon isn’t known to make empty threats.
Why is his line not connecting? Isadora stared at her phone with panicked–filled eyes.
The elevator opened, and she rushed out of it. She got to her room and continued dialing his line, but didn’t get through.
When she got tired of trying, she decided to send him a text message.
Eric, you are in danger. Please call me as soon as you read this text.
“Mom, are you okay?” Isadora flinched before turning to look at him.
“Did I scare you?”
“Yes, honey, you’re awake.”
“I just woke up.” Asher walked into the room, and Isadora quickly embraced him.
“I love you so much, honey,” Isadora kissed his forehead.
“Are you sure you’re fine, Mom? You’ve been acting strange since we came here.”
“Asher, it’s just work; Mom is busy with work over here. The competition starts in two days. I feel nervous.”
“I believe in you; don’t feel nervous.” Asher’s words brought a smile to her face, and she embraced him again, momentarily forgetting her worries.
“You are the best son any mother could ever ask for; I’m so proud of you.”
“I’m proud of you too, Mom.” Asher’s words came out muffled because of their tight embrace.
Same day.
Mr. Rollings quarter.
“Are you still angry about being here?”
“Who is he?” Ignoring Mr. Rollings question, Damon inquired.
“He is the new person that you would be working with.”
“I don’t want to work with anyone; I’m not done with my previous jobs.”

Chapter 9
“You’ll get a lot of benefits; why don’t you get to know him first?” Mr. Rollings suggested and Damon moved his gaze to the face of the man who couldn’t stop smoking pot. The man had his full attention on his pot, and the ugly scar on his face looked pretty visible. He must have lived a tough life.
“I don’t think I can work with him.” Damon lit his own cigarettes and took a drag.
Your judgment skill is below minimum; you judge with what you see on the outside; you don’t care about the inside.” The man suddenly spoke.
“Fuck the inside,” Damon groaned.
“No wonder you lost the one person that gave you happiness; you are not as smart as you think you are,” the man chuckled
“Who are you?” Damon stopped smoking and focused his attentio
on him.
“I’ve worked with your father once, and I can tell you that you are nowhere near his level; your skills are below zero.”
“I didn’t ask you that; what do you mean by your statement?” Damon groaned.
“Oh, about losing the person that gave you happiness,” the man laughed. “Isn’t it true? The woman you married secretly years ago, you married her only because of the benefits you’d gain from getting married, but you eventually fell in love with her. A smart person could have held onto the one thing that makes them happy, but no, you got scared and pushed her away. A single threat was enough to make
you throw her away.”
“How did you know that I was threatened?” Damon slowly rose to his feet. Who is this person?
“What is going on? Do you know him, Marcus?” Mr. Rollings turned his gaze to the man.
“More than you can imagine, I know everything about him and his ex–wife. His ex–wife is my niece, and I am responsible for their separation,” a vicious smile covered his face as he stared at Damon.
