Chapter 10
My uncle shot me a sharp look and huffed, “Do you take me for a fool? Relax. I’m not going to lay a hand on them, nor will I have someone else do it for me.“}
“I’m a law–abiding citizen, you know. I wouldn’t do anything that crosses the line.“}
He sounded completely serious, but something about it felt… off.
Uncle, with the way you were acting back at the hospital–so ruthless and domineering–you really don’t seem like the type to call yourself a law–abiding citizen.}
While my uncle and I were giving our statements at the police station, my mom had already been transferred to Volkten. I thought he would take me straight there next, but to my surprise, he brought me back to the same hospital we had just left.
I shot my uncle a puzzled look, but he simply lit a cigarette and said, “I told you–I’m not letting your dad and that bitch off the hook.“{ “Their illegitimate son is in this hospital too, isn’t he? The moment they left the police station, they rushed straight back here. Just wait and enjoy the show.”
The corner of my mouth twitched. “Uncle… you didn’t do something to their son, did you?“}
He rolled his eyes at me, looking completely uninterested in answering.
Just as curiosity started to bother me, a commotion erupted near the inpatient building’s entrance. Seconds later, a woman came stumbling out, screaming, blood running down her face.}
Eden?!?
What the hell happened to her?
As I stood there, frozen in shock, a man came barreling after Eden, a bloodstained hammer gripped tightly in his hand, his eyes burning with murderous rage.
That man was… my dad?!?
My breath caught in my throat. My mind reeled. What the hell was happening?!
Beside me, my uncle let out a low chuckle. His amusement only deepened as my dad caught up to Eden and brought the hammer down, the sickening impact landing squarely on her head. His smirk widened. “Now this is the kind of retribution those filthy rats deserve.”
“Prison? That would’ve been far too merciful.”
“That bitch was killed by your dad’s own hands. With so many witnesses, there’s no way he’ll escape the law. Only this–only this–is true justice for all the years of suffering you and your mother endured.“}
“Elle, this is your first lesson from your uncle. You can’t be too soft–hearted in this world. And when you choose a man in the future, don’t be like your mother–don’t let love make you blind.”
