Chapter 8
My uncle, still brimming with barely restrained fury, glared daggers at my dad and Eden, as if itching to dish out more punishment. It was clear he didn’t think he’d done nearly enough. Sensing things were about to escalate even further, I quickly grabbed his arm.
“Uncle, forget about them for now–saving my mom is more important!” Hearing my plea, my uncle shot one last murderous glare at my dad and Eden before turning to me and saying, “I brought Volkten’s top medical team with me. Don’t worry.“}
Moments later, the hospital director and several senior executives rushed over. They were extremely respectful toward my uncle, readily agreeing to all his requests, including transferring my mom to another hospital.>>
That alone was enough to show just how powerful and well–connected my uncle was. Meanwhile, my dad and Eden were still paralyzed with fear, their faces deathly pale. My uncle’s sheer brutality had completely shut them up–they didn’t even dare to breathe too loudly.
But the moment the police arrived in a hurry, my dad and Eden seemed to come back to life.”
“Officer! That man attacked us! Arrest him immediately! I want a medical evaluation–I’m pressing charges! He belongs in jail!“} “Everyone here saw it! This man attacked us without any reason! We don’t even know him! He came out of nowhere and beat us up- he needs to be held accountable!“}
With the police present, my dad and Eden immediately became emboldened, shouting as if they wouldn’t rest until my uncle was thrown behind bars.
I glanced at my uncle, a flicker of worry in my eyes. But he simply looked at my dad and Eden as if they were complete idiots. “You two shameless scumbags tried to harm my sister and her daughter and now you have the audacity to play the victim? Do you really think your dirty little secrets can stay hidden forever?“}
“A cheating bastard and a homewrecking mistress–do you seriously have the nerve to stand here and make a scene?“}
My uncle’s words sent a ripple through the crowd and all eyes turned toward my dad and Eden, their gazes shifting to ones of suspicion and intrigue. My dad’s face twisted in rage.}
“Bullshit! You’re slandering me! I’ll sue you for defamation! My wife is an orphan! Where the hell would she get a brother from?” Eden, too, shrieked in protest. “Zane and I are just business partners! What’s your motive for throwing dirt on us?”
Then, her eyes turned venomous as she glared at me. “Elle, did you bring this man here to pretend to be your uncle?”
Before I could even respond, my uncle let out a cold laugh. “Still trying to deny it? Fine–let’s show everyone exactly what kind of filthy rats you two really are.”
The moment his words fell, the hospital’s large screen flickered to life–displaying none other than my dad and Eden. The video showed them in a hotel room, completely naked and tangled in each other’s arms–an obscene, shameless display.
