Chapter 9
[Darling, once your wife and daughter are dead, you have to marry me right away!]}
[Don’t worry, I’ve been sick of that old hag for years. She’s nothing compared to you–young, beautiful and so much more exciting! And as for my useless daughter, if my wife hadn’t stopped me back then, I would’ve given her away to someone else long ago!]
[It’s such a shame our son was born unlucky–so young, yet already suffering from kidney failure. But at least your wife and daughter are a perfect match for his transplant! As long as we handle this carefully, there shouldn’t be any problems, right? Her family won’t suspect anything, will they?]
[That old hag doesn’t have a family! She’s an orphan! As long as we keep things discreet, no one will ever find out.]}
The hospital’s massive screen displayed, in horrifying clarity, the scene of my dad and Eden plotting to harm my mom and me.}
A collective gasp swept through the crowd. The way people looked at my dad and Eden shifted instantly–what was once mere curiosity turned into sheer disgust and hatred.N
“What a heartless bastard! He’s willing to murder his own wife and daughter just for his illegitimate son?!“}]
“And that woman–absolutely vile and shameless! A pair of filthy rats. Don’t they fear about karma?“}
“They deserve to be torn apart! Scum like them don’t deserve to be called human–they don’t even deserve to live!“}
The crowd erupted in fury, their outrage surging like a tidal wave. Meanwhile, my dad and Eden stood frozen, their faces deathly pale, eyes filled with shock and despair.
I was furious too, but more than that, I couldn’t help but wonder–how had my uncle even managed to obtain such a video of them in a hotel room? If it weren’t for the police holding them back, my dad and Eden would have been drowned in the crowd’s spit alone.
While my uncle arranged for my mom’s hospital transfer, he took me along to the police station. There, we gave our statements. My dad and Eden, rattled by the damning video played on the hospital’s big screen, didn’t dare pursue charges against my uncle for hitting them. They were too busy panicking to cause him any trouble.}
But as we walked out of the station, frustration simmered inside me. A mere hotel surveillance video wasn’t enough to convict them. Sensing my unease, my uncle ruffled my hair and said in a low, measured voice, “I have more evidence. If I had presented it at the police station just now, your dad and that bitch would’ve been convicted on the spot.“}
I froze for a moment before instinctively asking, “Then why didn’t you?“}
My uncle narrowed his eyes. “Because even if they went to prison, that would be far too easy of a punishment for what they did to your mother and you.“%
A chill ran down my spine. I sucked in a sharp breath before hurriedly saying, “Uncle, murder is illegal. You can’t do anything reckless!”
