“He should be ashamed of himself! How can
someone do that to his own family?”
“He’s a monster! He should have stayed
loyal!”
“He’s disgusting! He should be banned from
the earth!”
The crowd’s murmurs made Mark’s face red.
I used this as an opportunity to get into my
car.
“Sarah!” Mark shouted, taking out a shiny
knife.

The crowd backed away.
I was scared, even though I knew Mark
wouldn’t actually do anything. What if he did
hurt me and Lily? What would I do then?
As I was thinking, Mark stopped in his tracks.
“Sarah, listen to me. If you don’t give me Lily,
I’ll kill myself right now! If I die, it’ll be on you,
and you won’t sleep well again!”
I knew Mark wouldn’t do it. But I was still
scared. I didn’t want him to die so that he
could torture me for the rest of my life.
I didn’t react, so Mark sliced his arm with the
knife.
The crowd gasped as blood spurted out, and
Mark fell to his knees.

I covered Lily’s eyes.
I put Lily in the car and got out to approach
Mark.
He was on the ground, half conscious. His cut
wasn’t too deep though.
Mark didn’t want to die.
I crouched down. “Mark, stop your pathetic
show. You don’t want to die.”
“And by the way, I know that you gave Lily
sleeping pills, you did it so that you could go
and see Tiffany! That made Lily very sick and
had to be hospitalized.”
“I have evidence of you drugging Lily! If I give
that to the police, do you think you’ll go to
jail?”
“Just stay away from me, we will never see each other again.”
Mark’s face paled at my words, he finally
knew that I was the one who had known his
secret.
After that, he would never bother me again.
I didn’t turn back as I got into my car.
My new life with Lily was starting today.
