Of course, I deliberately let my dad hear the recording. The ambition of his most trusted adopted son needed a chance to be exposed. This was much more convincing than if I had directly told him, and it made him angrier too.
Chloe wasn’t my person, but I had investigated her character before returning home. I needed her to be the spark that ignited everything. She certainly didn’t disappoint me.
My brother really did love this Chloe. After being so cautious in our family for so many years, he only revealed his true thoughts in front of her.
Perhaps it was Chloe’s fabricated orphan identity that made tum let his guard down, or maybe he thought of his own dark childhood, coming from such a background to his current success. This led him to lose his sense of proportion in front of Chloe and become arrogant.

Of course, William’s actions towards our family would spread. My dad might want to save face for him, but I couldn’t afford to give him any chances.
So, my gathering with friends, letting slip a few sad words after getting drunk, was understandable.

These words flashed through my mind in a thousand threads, but by the time they reached my lips, only one sentence remained:
