Chapter 15
Natalie frome, her body stiffening as Jonas’s words crashed over her like an icy wave. The sheer shock made her instinctively jerk back, her upper body arching ever so slightly–only to collide with the unyielding wall of his chest.
Her breath hitched, a startled gasp lodged in her throat as she immediately recoiled, sinking into the mattress beneath her like a cornered animal seeking refuge.
Jonas had only meant to tease her. After all, no matter how desperate he might get, he had no intention of entertaining any kind of entanglement
with a “little spy” whose motives seemed far from innocent.
But the moment Natalie’s soft form pressed against him, something primal flickered in his gaze. His usual restraint faltered as his eyes darkened. their depths holding an intensity he could no longer mask. A sardonic chuckle escaped him, low and edged with provocation. “Getting a little wild,
aren’t we?”
Natalie’s heart plummeted. He had clearly misunderstood her. Though she lacked experience in matters of romance, she wasn’t entirely oblivious. Jonas’s breaths were heavier now, the rhythm of his chest rising and falling in a way that set off every alarm in her head.
Panic clawed its way to the surface, and she blurted out hastily, I was… I was worried you might be cold. So, I thought I’d grab something to cover

Her tongue darted out nervously to moisten her dry, singling lips. Wide–eyed and desperate to appear features contorted with earnestness, practically pleading for him to believe her
Jonas tilted his head back slightly, his profile catching the moonlight filtering through the gaps in the structure. The faint glow illuminated Natalie’s face beneath him—her flawless skin, her luminous eyes that shimmered with innocence, as if butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth
“She’s good, Jonas mused, the corners of his mouth curling in amusement. “That pretty face could fool anyone. And now that lovely mouth of hers is spinning another story
Interest reignited in his expression, a devilish smirk dancing on his lips as he leaned closer. “So, sweetheart you were worried about my ankles catching a chill? Planning to wrap them up for me, were you?”
Natalie’s face burned at his words. She hadn’t realized he’d been awake all along. No wonder his leg
eg started feeling heavier…
He was watching me the whole time like some kind of twisted spectator, letting me play the fool, even pressing down with his leg on purpose just
to mess with me!
Humiliation and indignation swirled inside her, but she bit them back, knowing better than to lash out. She forced herself to speak calmly, her voice tinged with panic. “Actually… I was feeling cokl. I just thought if I stayed close to you, I’d warm up faster.”
What she didn’t dare admit was the real reason for her actions–the gnawing fear that Jonas might abandon her out here in the middle of nowhere..
His temperament was unpredictable, and she knew better than to give him ideas. If the truth sparked some cruel whim, he might very well leave her behind just for sport.
Jonas’s eyes gleamed with mischief, his lips quirking as if he were buying into her excuse. “Oh..” he drawled lazily, his tone dripping with mock acceptance, “is that so
But before Natalie could breathe a sigh of relief, she felt it–his hand, warm and slightly rough with calluses, sliding aga
against her leg.
The touch was electrifying, her body going rigid as every nerve screamed at her to move. Fear and disbelief collided in her chest, her teeth clenching to suppress the urge to shout,
Tears prickled at the comers of her eyes, her humiliation now mingled with dread. “Don’t.. don’t do this..” she whispered, her voice trembling
They were isolated, stranded in the middle of nowhere. Just the two of them. If Jonas truly intended to push things further, there would be no escape. She had followed him willingly, and now she was at his mercy.
Jonas watched her intently, his gaze fixed on the subtle tremor in her lips and the way her tear–brightened eyes glistened with vulnerability
Moments ago, she had been quick–witted and defiant, sparring with him like she could hold her own. But now, she looked utterly defeated, her fragile composure cracking as her emotions bled through her expression.
Something about her broken resistance tugged at him in a way he hadn’t anticipated. That so, quivering voice of hers–laced with just the faintest hint of a sob–gnawed at his control, tempting him to the edge of reason.
His thoughts turned cold, a sharp contrast to the heat simmering in his veins. “What a masterpiece of temptation she is

Jonas’s voice dropped lower, his tone rich and velvety as he leaned even closer. A teasing, alluring smile played on his lips, betraying the wicked amusement dancing in his eyes. “Relax. I’m just warming you up, sweetheart”
Natalie felt a deafening buzz in her head, like her mind had short–circuited under the crushing weight of helplessness and fear. After a brief moment of blank terror, she began to thrash like a fish gasping for air, desperate to escape.
But her frantic struggle was no match for Jonas’s iron grip–he subdued her effortlessly, his strength unyielding.
“Don’t..L..” Natalie stammered, her voice trembling. Before she could finish, she found herself enveloped in his warmth, his solid, unyielding body pressing against hers. Yet, to her surprise, he didn’t take things further.

A faint scoff escaped Jonas’s lips, the sound brushing against her ear as his breath–warm and slightly damp–teased the delicate curve.
His voice, low and teasing, sent shivers racing down her spine. “Don’t what?”
It dawned on Natalie then that she had completely misunderstood his intentions. His deliberate mockery hit her like a sudden gust of heat, sending a blush rushing to her checks.
Knowing there was no right answer, she shrank into herself, instinctively pulling her neck in as though retreating might save her. Feigning ignorance seemed like the safest move.
Jonas noticed the pink hue creeping up the tips of her ears, standing out like tiny blossoms against her clear skin. His lips quirked into a faint amused smirk.
The girl in his arms was softer than he’d expected, her small, delicate frame warm and pliant against him. She felt almost absurdly fragile, like a downy feather, and for a fleeting moment, she reminded him of Myla’s old husky puppy–clumsy, needy, and utterly unaware of its own charm.
The thought brought a glimmer of mischief to his eyes. Tightening his bold slightly. Jonas adjusted his grip and reached for the camo jacket lying discarded nearby. In one swift motion, he draped it over Natalie’s head and upper body, plunging her into darkness,
Caught off guard by the sudden lack of visibility. Natalie wriggled instinctively, trying to push the jacket away. Then she realized her wrists were still trapped in Jonas’s large hands. Even the slightest movement was met with his fingers tightening around her, a silent but firm reminder of his
dominance.
And in that moment, it became painfully clear to Natalie–Jonas might be lying close to her, teasing her like they were sharing some intimate secret, but his actions screamed caution. He didn’t trust her, not for a second.
at just regret it”
His voice came next, calm but laced with an unmistakable edge of warning. “Sweetheart, move again, and you might
The threat hung in the air like a blade poised over her, and Natalie froze immediately, the fight draining out of her
She should have felt anxious or terrified when nestled in the arms of a stranger as unpredictable and dangerous as Jonas.
But whether it was the exhaustion of the day’s events or the way his body radiated warmth against the chill of the night, a strange sense of calm
washed over her.
Before she could stop herself, her eyelids grew heavy, her breaths evening out as fatigue pulled her into a
an unbidden sleep.
Jonas felt the shift almost instantly–the way her small frame softened, her breathing becoming slow and steady. He opened his eyes slightly. She really fell asleep?
Shaking his head slightly, Jonas let his eyes drift closed once more. But his hand, still loosely clasped around her wrists, didn’t let go. The grip seemed casual, almost lazy, but his mind remained cautious, running through the calculations and possibilities that had him alert.
Jonas thought, “This little spy really knows how to play hard–to–get. At first, I thought she was just putting on an act, teasing me until I couldn’t resist and giving in herself
But now? She actually fell asleep? What’s going on in that head of hers? Or is this her way of testing me, seeing if I’ll break first? Trying to make me beg
A flood of questions surged through Jonas’s mind, but he pushed them aside, letting out a sharp, derisive snort. His lips curled into a mocking smirk, laced with disdain. “Trying to seduce me into sleeping with your Pathetic..
“Not in a million years, he thought, the words bitter and final in his mind.
Meanwhile, Natalie stirred faintly. In her half asleep haze, she heard a low murmur near her ear, but it felt more like a dream than reality. Feeling the cool airbrushing against her exposed legs, she instinctively shifted closer to the warmth beside her, seeking comfort.
Within seconds, she drifted back into a deep, untroubled slumber, her ability to sleep through anything both enviable and infuriating.

Chapter 15
Jonas’s brow furrowed. So, she’s finally making a move?”
But as seconds stretched into minutes, it became apparent that the girl in his arms wasn’t planning anything. She was completely out, her breathing soft and steady
Curiosity and confusion got the better of him. Jonas opened his eyes and glanced down at her, only to see her nestled against his arm, fast asleep. her features relaxed and innocent.
A sharp, sardonic laugh escaped him as he rolled his tongue over his back teeth. For a split second, he entertained the idea of shoving her off the makeshin bed. His leg twitched in readiness, but just as he was about to act Natalie moved again.
Like a drowsy kitten, she nuzzled her cheek against the crook of his arm, her small, delicate face brushing against him with a familiarity that felt both startling and oddly endearing.
Jonas frowned briefly, then shut his eyes again. Forget it. This dump of a place is uncomfortable enough as it is. Tossing this human pillow away will only make things worse.
With that thought, he grabbed the camo jacket from beside him and draped it over her exposed legs. Not satisfied, he shifted. hooking his leg over her to keep her snugly in place. Natalie was completely enveloped, caught between his chest and limbs like a human–sized teddy bear.
“Mm…” Natalie murmured sleepily, her cheek brushing against his arm again. A fint discomfort registered as her face pressed against something firm, stirring her awake. Opening her eyes, she felt a dull ache on her cheek, though it quickly subsided.
