Chapter 10%
This morning, I decided to spend the entire day at the company. The issue of the missing funds from yesterday still hadn’t been resolved–what Edgar took was gone for good
As a result, Thad no choice but to cover the company’s losses with my personal funds. Otherwise, my employees wouldn’t receive their salaries this month 1
I was still working with Hazel’s company, and this time, Trequested a team to conduct a comprehensive audit and analyze company data it wouldn’t be a quick process, but hoped it was the night step also needed Cero’s expertise to strengthen our data security so that something like this wouldn’t happen again
“Can you handle it? Lasked Cero, who was staring intently at the computer screen in front of him!!
His colleagues were also hard at work, analyzing data and securing the system. The security shield would be Cem’s responsibility
I turned just in time to see him leaning back in his chair, subsfaction flickening in his expression. For some reason, his sharp blue eyes reminded me of Nathan
God, why was I thinking about him now? His behavior last night was infuriating Besides, when I left this morning, I hadn’t seen him step out of his unit. Was he still inside, or had he already left?!
I had no idea whether he actually worked or just spent his days enjoying life like a reckless young man:]]
“Mr. Howard, f’m leaving you in charge of supervising them. I have work to do in my office,” I instructed the DBA, who nodded in understanding
I still needed to renew several files, considering yesterday’s chaos had forced me to delay some tasks.
Just as I was about to enter my office, Kate my secretary–called out to me
“Excuse me, ma’am,” the approached, stopping me just before I opened the dood
“Yes? What is it, Kate??)|
“Someone is here to see you,” she said, her voice tinged with hesitation
Frowned, trang to recall any scheduled meetings I did have plans to meet with a few shareholders regarding yesterday’s incident, but those were group discussions, not individual appointments.
“Wright, I’ll head to the meeting room:
“No, ma’am” Kate cut me off, preventing me from taking another step. Before I could question her, she quickly added, “He’s in the lobby
I nodded, surprised. It was unusual for my quest to be kept downstairs. If it were one of the shareholders, my staff would have escorted them up following standard protocol.
Was it Nothan?!
Remembering his odd behavior last night, I wouldn’t put it past him to do something unexpected. But I hadn’t told him where my company was As far as he knew, I was just a designer with a boutique–unless he had gone out of his way to dig up information about

When I reached the lobby, following Kate, my suspicion was confirmed. Sitting casually on the sofa was a figure I recognized all too
Nathan
So, my guess was right!
But what was he doing here? Had he seriously followed me to work? That seemed unlikely
“Oh He greeted me cheerfully%
“What are you doing here? Lasked bluntly, not bothering to mask my irritation X
“Just taking a stroll Nathan shrugged, looking as annoyingly carefree as ever
Astroll? Do you think this building is a tourist attraction?” I folded my arms across my chest.
I never understood what went on in this man’s head.X
He chuckled, as if I had just cracked a joke. Should I smack him upside the head?
“You’re too sensitive, Sharon.” He tried to stifle his laughter but quickly sobered when I shot him a glare. “Okay, okay. I’m actually here accompanying a friend who just started working at your company I didn’t know you owned a business this big”
Trolled my eyes. Of course, he would say something ridiculous like that. And unfortunately, I had no comeback to deny it
“Do you have time to grab a coffee? There’s a new café nearby, and I heard they have a new menu” he suggested with his usual easygoing smile
1 seriously thought you were unemployed, Nathan ”
“Yea, well, just keep thinking that,” he replied, slipping his hands into his pockets. “So, what’s the verdict?“%
I sighed. “Not for coffee

“Yeah, well, just keep thinking that he replied, slipping his hands into his pockets. “So, what’s the verdict?”
I sighed. “Not for coffee.”
“Even though I think you could really use a caffeinated drink?”
I shot him a flat look, unwilling to entertain his nonsense.
Regardless, we ended up heading to a small cafe not far from my office on Greenwich Street.!!
I ordered a hot chocolate and a bagel with cream cheese, while Nathan settled for an Americano. It didn’t take long for our orders to arrive, and we quietly enjoyed our drinks.
I sipped my hot chocolate, savoring the warmth in the chilly weather. When was the last time I took a moment to relax like this? | couldn’t even remember, Probably before I discovered Edgar’s betrayal–almost two months ago.
A sudden wave of nausea hit me at the thought.
“Hey, Nath” I called, making him look up. “Actually-”
“Well, well, look who we have here!”
A loud, mocking voice cut me off.
Nathan and I both turned toward the source, and my stomach twisted in dread.
Of all the people in the world, why did I have to run into them?
Life really had a sick sense of humor)
